My thought on what a local board should be!!

Wetin I wan talk be say both English and pidgin can be used in communicating in our local board. When it is needful to use our own pidgin so that the yanky people no go know wetin man dey yan , then one fit decide to to go with pidgin. I know really see this to be problem, anyone can decide to use English whenever it is needed. I don't think anyone is having any language barrier in this local board because you fit yan wetin you wan yan and pesin wey no be naija no go still understand wetin you dey talk about. I normally use both languages in this our local board, so anyone you feel say they alright for you.

I just reason say this our board na for we wey sabi yan Pidgin well-well. As I take see am, if person wan drop post wey go follow grammar style, e for better make e carry am go the general board. I believe say the people wey push make we get this board do am because dem believe say we go fit express ourselves the way we dey normally dey talk.

As I take think am, e no too make sense say we go dey form like say na oyinbo place we dey, when be say we suppose dey run our things for ground level. As we dey yan our kripto matter, make we try keep am for that our own level — the one wey everybody go feel, enjoy the gist, and still make us unique on the low.

Abi how una follow reason the matter?

E be like say you dey miss the point wey make @Igebotz and other brain wey follow create this forum take start am. We dey local board no means say person no fit talk English if na wetin him Sabi. You feel say na every Nigerian Sabi Yan for Pidgin English? No be so!!!

Wetin matter be say person talk wetin another person fit understand. For local board, na to help bring we own closer wey you go feel among. A place wey be say if you Yan for Pidgin English another person fit readam understand. E get wetin no good say person dey where he no know anybody, you go just turn total stranger. Make we no come carry say person dey write grammar come begin dey discriminate am. Abi you no know say e get people for this country wey come from better family wey be say if you Yan them "Wetin dey sup", they go just dey look you like mum. When most translate they are so much in a rush that they fail to make sure every grammar in that translation is broken down to basic understandable pidgin it's the reason you see people of the likes of LoyceV don't see pidgin as a proper language.

Wait oh, so LoyceV don turn who done the approve proper Naija pidgin or what? Omoor no vex oh, but this talk sound to me  like someone way the talk with low self esteem. Language na identity unto a people. I think it was about a translated post that someone translated LoyceV post so that he can receive merits as usual but LoyceV posted that Pidgin is very similar to English that he does not think it is worth the translation. LoyceV never rated Pidgin language and has not involved himself in anything we are discussing related to Pidgin.

Is there anyone reading the translation contents that did not understand English? That was the reason I suggested it in the past that they should not have a single thread for it as having a new topic for each might let more people see it and visit the original thread. Although, it is now pinned.

Wetin u need to no be say, dis naija local board is for old users and newbies people to learn fast and improve for dem to no wetin people dey discuss in d general board,  Pidgin and English was agreed to be using to communicate in d naija local board, reasons is dat for those people dat no how to use Pidgin to teach newbies so dat it will be easy for dem to impart dem while those dat sabi English to impart newbies, it will be easy for dem too, u can see wat is making newbies to learn crypto faster in dis naija local board compare to general board.

I only corrected the part that you said Pidgin is given rating by a non-Nigerian. Also you people post on this forum in a way that it is very similar to English and which is good. Also we totally communicate like that just like on this forum while chatting with friends. Let me ask a question, is Pidgin now on translators? The last time that I checked, it was not there.

I am always surprised that most of you people do not know the reason we should have a local board. There are some discussion that should be discussed locally and also we can get closer to know each other from the local board even if not knowing ourselves physically. Also there are some topics that are totally related to what is happening in our local community.

Example is this topic. Did you see the second person that I gave merit? He gave a link about someone in Nigeria that his daughter was kidnapped and crypto was demanded for her ransom. The topic was more about physical attacks related to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in Nigeria. I have not read about the news before poster by sokani. Also from the thread, I understood that there has been kidnaps in Nigeria that is related to bitcoinnas the ransom.

The truth is that I don't see it your way. Nigeria is more diverse, and upbringings are not the same. I'm sure we would have at least 3 categories of people here:

1. Those who understand and can write well in both English and Pidgin.
2. Those who understand both, but can only write well in English and struggle to write in Pidgin.
3. Those who understand English, but barely understand Pidgin, let alone write in it.

Should we disenfranchise the 3 and force 2 to write what was supposed to be written in 5 minutes, 20 minutes, or more? By virtue, I vote for freedom of language. Besides, having a local board doesn't mean secrecy as you make it look (we can't hide on a public forum). Local board only means more bonding with our fellow countrymen.

You are right with your opinion, but it is not right for other people opinion because it has been discussed here before now.
Pidgin no be our official language, na English be our official language, and if we talk say we go consider the major languages, it will be like four languages, and if we decide to be posting in these languages, then we might be decided because some people especially the northerners can’t even speak or write pidgin; that is why it was made optional to either speak pidgin or English since it is our official language.

The main aim of the local board to unite us more, and we are achieving that already, and we are sharing some important information in this local board as we are already achieving our goal.

Most of us Nigerians write very ugly pidgin English and sometimes those translation sounds like spam as you can barely read and understand the translation - we speak English so I really don't see the need for having to translate English posts we can all read to Pidgin English.

When you read this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5399898.60 does any of the translation sounds like pidgin English? No- they're 80% broken English and 20% pidgin. LoycV was right to some extent.

Best solution was piping them in one single thread to save the board from hundreds of translated threads all over the place. We need originality here.
