Madrid were slaughtered by Benfica and it was a devastating defeat for the players. Two red cards for Rodrygo and Asensio, but most interestingly Benfica last goal was scored by Trubin, the goalkeeper who advanced into the box. It was a surprise that Benfica broke the spirit of the Madrid players. Benfica made it through to the play off qualifying round and Madrid were eliminated in the last 8.

Ngl, that's about the biggest highlight in the game, the part that Trubin could score against Madrid. It's safe to say that Jose Mourinho knows how to inflict pain on his former employers, literally dragging the carpet from under their legs because Madrid thought they had every thing under wraps with the first goal from Kylian Mbappe but Benfica immediately bounced back. Beautiful performance from Benfica and I have to admit that their confidence is something that should be studied.

Galatasaray played better than I expected. The score became 2-0 very early, and I thought the gap would widen even more, but Galatasaray pressed well upfront. City had chances, but goalkeeper Uğurcan made some great saves. Galatasaray's Play-Off opponent will be either Atletico Madrid or Juventus. In previous years, Juventus and Galatasaray have faced each other, and Galatasaray advanced to the next round.

Real Madrid is struggling to get an equalizer against Benfica who is leading them with a goal as the scoreline is 3-2 currently. However, even if Madrid loses this match, they're still going to qualify automatically to thw round of 16.

I feel this is embarrassing that Benfica who has been performing poorly is leading Real Madrid. Barcelona is dominating their match and they're sure of qualifying because they're on 5th position on the table. Arsenal remains unbeaten till the end of the group stage.

It is over for Real Madrid in this match; there is nothing they can do to earn a point in this match because the referee has given two Real Madrid players red cards. The top 8 teams in the champions league standings have automatic qualification to the champions league knockout stage, so Real Madrid will not get automatic ticket to the knockout stage if they loses to Benfica because they will not make it to the top 8 in the champions league standings. I do not even expect Benfica to beat Real Madrid because Benfica has been performing poorly in the champions league but they are beating Real Madrid 3:2.

I want to congratulate Bodo/Glimt. They did a great job and pulled off the surprise of the night in Madrid. They beat Atletico Madrid 1-2 away and qualified for the play-offs.
They secured their place with 6 points from their last two matches.

In another surprise, Benfica beat Real Madrid 4-2 with a goal from goalkeeper Trubin in the 90+10th minute and are now in 24th place.
I didn't watch the match, but I can imagine Mourinho's reaction.

I don't know what's more crazy - Bodø-Glimt's victory over Atlético in Madrid or Benfica's ability to defeat Real Madrid with the required goal difference, where the goalkeeper scored the decisive goal. In fact, 5 teams scored 9 points each and only two were lucky.
As a Real Madrid fan I'm disappointed, but happy for Mourinho, he knows how to win as an underdog, that's a fact.
Now Real Madrid is in the 1/16, I can't wait to see which their opponent will be. If this were last year's format, it would be Benfica again

The Benfica goalkeeper has made the game more interesting than every other games because I was hoping that Real Madrid would get an equalizer but the second red card just turn things around for them. What an awesome header from the goalkeeper this was the best performance that I have ever seen from the Champions league and the funny part of it is that the goalkeeper wasn't expecting that he would be the one to score the goal because the celebration was absolutely something else.

What a night for Real Madrid.. Two red cards in just 5 minutes of stoppage time, they must have been so aggressive and frustrated as usual, too bad I didn’t watch .

Benfica isn’t an easy team..just as Real Madrid needed the win to get an R16 seat, they also needed the win to secure a seat in the qualifiers. One is more pressing as the other can still get a chance in the qualifiers, so I wasn’t surprised.

Now Arbeloa will get more pressure from the management for losing one of the key match to staying ahead in UCL.

Anyhow, I'm pleased Napoli is out of it, it's time to understand Serie A is becoming a joke and that competing even at the top there means competing at the bottom of CL, too bad the other one made it.

But overall, no real surprise for the qualifying, I'm just content Bodo made it but overall it would have been better with just 16 teams rather than another round of play-off.

Real Madrid management should be ashamed of themselves, they sacked experienced clash Xabi Alonso to hire amateur coach, the has made Real Madrid look like a middle team, king of Champions League will be playing playoff spot, it's so horrible, I never saw it coming.

Benfica outshined Real Madrid and got the play off spot,they deserve it. They fought a good fight, Jose Mourinho is such an experienced coach and his impact and experience shows on the game tonight, he proven to be ahead of Alvaro.

Were you actually thinking that Barcelona will lose that match just because they were losing to Copenhagen at half time, I didn't even think so for once because I was backing them to win and I knew second half will be hell for them and for the fact that the match is been played at Barcelona home made me to have more confidence in them.

I knew Barcelona will win the match even when Copenhagen scored in the first half of the match, anyone that watched the first half of the match will know that Barcelona will bounce back in the second half of the match. Barcelona played better than them in both the first and second half of the match, they were just lucky to score a goal during the first half of the match, but Barcelona retaliated in the second half of the match and they scored 4 goals. It’s was a nice one for them, Copenhagen is a team that Barcelona are not even suppose to find difficult, and Barcelona humiliated Copenhagen in the match.

Barcelona are 5th on the UCL table, no injuries, currently ahead of Copenhagen, will not be involved in the UCL playoffs February they are right where they want to be.
Barcelona are fighters that listens to what ever their coach tells them at the half time break.
I don’t know which place Real Madrid is at but with PSG and Newcastle is level they are within the 8th place cut off.

What is more crazy is that Real Madrid lost to Benfica, and a goalkeeper scoring, that is the difference in the game now, and Benfica winning means they’ve qualified to the knockout stages also know as the playoffs position, I’m really happy for Jose Mourinho that he was able to beat Real Madrid and it was a very interesting game, because I was watching the game with so much enthusiasm knowing fully well that Mourinho is going to come up with something special after his comments about big teams employing inexperienced coaches, I think Mourinho just proves his critics right, Real Madrid need a Coach that is more experienced like Jurgen Klopp.

Well as for Athletico Madrid they’re a finished club, which is why I wouldn’t have much to say about them, we’ve seen that they’re not a very good team, considering how they are performing in the La Liga and Champions League, I don’t know why Diego Simeone is still kept as the Coach of Athletico Madrid, Bodo/Glimt just showed Athletico Madrid that they’re a very bad performing team.

They could have conceded many more goals; Galatasaray surprised and pleased me in this regard. I thought there would be at least 3-4 goals in this match. They conceded 2 goals in the first half hour, and after that, we didn't see any more goals. I predicted Manchester City would score early in this match, so it's quite good for Galatasaray that they didn't score more.

If the opponent is Juventus, Galatasaray might have a chance; sometimes they can play very well in difficult matches

Thanks to haaland that scored in the 10th minute and rayan thay scored in the 29th minute, this game wasn't gow i expected it to be to, my idea about this game was for galatasaray to score or probably win . But unfortunately that didn't happen. congrats to Manchester City though, I hope they will be able to show consistency in their next match because they're going to need it to survive in the ucl.

Even though Newcastle are playing really well and have good players, i still think PSG are a big favorite , not only because of the odds, but in every aspect, literally. It is almost certain that Luis Enrique will start with his strongest lineup, and the goal is clearly to take all three points. Without a doubt, i expect a very interesting match with plenty of goals.By the way, another match that could also be very interesting is Napoli vs Chelsea. Napoli need a win to qualify for the next round, and that will be very difficult. I’m rooting for Conte’s boys and i hope they can finally put an end to the run of poor results in tonight’s match.

I agree with you, Enrique will probably deploy his first 11 to start against Newcastle and probably try to end the game early and grant them rest by substituting some them. PSG last season went through the rigorous playoff just to qualify for the Rounds of 16 which I don't think he will want to subject himself and his team into again this very season. , my opinion though even though I still always bear in mind that anything can happen but i still support PSG to see off Newcastle.

PSG are going to win but I am not going to disrupt Newcastle United chances, they have done it before and it is still possible tonight. PSG are not really invincible anymore, anything can happen. Although, PSG ought to win the game especially since they haven't really secure their spot in the top eight, they will be coming all out I guess.

Who would have thought it , Newcastle managed to resist PSG and come away with a point. I was convinced, just like you, that PSG would win this match, but as you said, PSG are no longer invincible and they didn’t even make it into the top 8, just like Real Madrid, who once again managed to defeat themselves. Despite two red cards, Benfica still managed to score another goal and win 4-2. The scorer was Benfica’s goalkeeper , truly an unbelievable night, especially for Mourinho, who once again proved that he is "Mr. Special"

I'm currently watching the Chelsea game, +1 already, i will get the time switching between matches.

The match result has changed and it is now in the favour of the the home club Napoli, they came way from behind to score two goals consecutive making Napoli lead 2-1 before the half time break.

Oh, what a a Uefa champions league night, 18 matches! Goals pouring all over the games

The first half has ended and their results still remain 2-1 which is the favour of the Napoli has you said earlier, amd with the way Napoli performances went well before the first half ended I’m still expecting more goals from them in the second half, because i don’t think Chelsea can able to equalize back with how their performances goes in that first half.

But let us wait and see what will be their outcome in the second, since although that their expected the Chelsea to win the match we can see what will happen in the second half; weather they can make it happen to win the match but I don’t see that sign with them yet.

Football is that game that we can not make conclusion about the end when it is not yet full-time. Napoli gained the upper hand in the first half by scoring those two goals and as we have it, Napoli came back into  the second 45 minutes to meet a different Chelsea squad who defiled their home advantage and got back the lead

therefore sending Napoli out of the champions league with a 2-3 stunner. Antonio Conte watching from the sideline could not believe what has just happened when J. Pedro banged the third goal for Chelsea at the 82 minutes.

Until tonight, Álvaro Arbeloa was doing just fine as coach. In fact Most Real Madrid players had started to show glimpses of brilliance post the Xabi Alonso era. They fell short tonight but one should not just start to instantly blame the coach. There are a lot of matches to come.

I was proud of Real Madrid, because they took the lead first, I don't know what made them look bad, I didn't watch it but I saw the number of goals directly, when the score was still 3-2 I was still sure Madrid would be able to match it but my guess was wrong, besides that I was also disappointed with PSG against Newcastle, PSG did win in possession but Newcastle's defense was very difficult to penetrate. PSG only got 1 point because it ended in a draw

Real Madrid will be considering a better manager to replace Álvaro Arbeloa at the end of the season and so I doubt they may sign any defender or other player this January transfer window which is coming to the end already.

Going by this past encounter for Galatasaray against Juventus, it is likely that Galatasaray will still qualify ahead of them in the playoffs because they look to have played even a more better football than them in the first round of the champions league. I am looking to see the remaining eight teams that will make it to the next round after the ones that have made it through already through a tough game tonight by many. Some teams going for the playoffs are already the better teams to make it to the next round, but that time will tell soon.

Benfica really needed this match and they played as a masterclass team to defeat Real Madrid tonight. This was not how many of us thought the game will end, the game was thrilling though and a perfect example of a champions league game showdown. Five premier league teams made it to the next round without playoffs, this is very superb and a commendable one for those teams representing the English league.
