They're both still included because they rightly qualified to play in the competition this season and regardless of their results, they'll have to play all their group stage matches. For Ajax, I think it's more understandable that they've failed to get a point since the start of the season but for Jose Mourinho's Benfica, it's actually very embarrassing that a manager who's won the competition with two different clubs can't help Benfica get results after he was hired help bring them back to winning ways.

Yes, because there are eight qualifying rounds and four more remaining, so regardless of the outcome of each match, each club will still have another match scheduled. Next up, Ajax will face Benfica, both clubs who have been very poor in the UCL this season.

The honest truth is if Arteta manages to actually bottle the league this season not that the point gap is even that much to consider them having far more advantage, but should Arteta goes Trophyless this season then it might be the best option to actually part ways from him. Bayern Munchen is more experienced than Arsenal when playing in the Champions League, and overall, I feel like most people would favorite Bayern Munich over Arsenal. However, we shall see what happens when the two teams face each other in the next match, perhaps the game will end in a draw, and both teams will share the points.

On the other hand, I agree that Arsenal problem has perhaps been about mentality, where they often lose momentum when under pressure, and this frequently happens towards the end of the season. Having good defense doesn’t gurantees that you will never get scored against it is impossible just that your effort is actually measured by how well you set this up against majority of most clubs, for example before the Sunderland game they were on a three or four games in without facing more than one shot not to talk of actually conceding anything like a goal but you definitely do not expect that to actually be the norm everyday. This is because there are other clubs that might definitely be better at causing you problems.

This is the reason why one game doesn’t defines a season rather it’s the consistency that does that for any one. For me I think this Sunderland game was beyond them because they did everything right but Sunderland definitely deserved points in the game and this isn’t anything as Arsenal can actually build on this momentum more
