Exactly how it feels being a defender.
Honestly, this years balloon d'or, there is no clear outstanding performer. It would have been Salah but he did not make it to the champions league finals according to Ronaldo's logic.
I also do think that if defenders were given thr credence that is due them, Dembele wouldn't be mentioned ahead of Hakimi but it is sad that no system is perfect. Defenders are disadvantaged in this one.

1. Best goal keeper
2. Best midfielder
3. Best striker
and there won't just be an overall best.

Maybe this the very first post I'm on here in agreement with you.   But then, there's no way they're voting for Lamine Yamal this year as the best player. It's got to be Ousman Dembele fr fr he's both played the Champions League Competition finals and also the club world cup finals. Also to add to your post is awarding Lionel Messi rather than Erling Haaland. This time, I'm sure it would be difficult as hell to not award the right candidate.

In the history of Ballon d'Or based on my research, only three defenders ever won it beginning with the legendary German defender by name Franz Beckenbauer who was popularly known as Der Kaiser and known for his libero skills of sweeping. He won the Ballon d'Or twice and is the only defender in the history of football who has won it twice and doubles as the pioneer winner of the award in the 1970s. After him, the next defender is Matthias Sammer another German who became the second person to have won the Ballon d'Or as a defender in the late 1990s. He was also a libero and more of a defensive midfielder for the Dortmund club then. The last defender in history to have won the Ballon d'Or is Cannavaro, an Italian defender who became the third Ballon d'Or winner and the last recorded historically.

It's all because the efforts of defenders ain't really that recognize and that's why the award is more favorable towards the attackers and midfielder but the truth is that defenders are a core part of the game and without them the game won't be interesting as teams and players would be scoring goals and it won't be competitive at all so I think setting up an additional awards or special treat to celebrate the impact of defenders is definitely a welcomed idea.

It’s a good idea, you’re not alone in that thought a lot of us Football fans have once in a while thought of that but it’s for FIFA or whichever body that gives award to implement it. I would really love it for defenders to be recognised for all their hard works, they do all the dirty work and it’s unfair comparing them to strikers and midfielders who score goals and assists which is the highlight of football.

I think it will be going to Dembele, well he deserves it more than any other player. He won the French league, French cup and even the champions league, and not just that he won them he was superb in all competitions. He was ligue 1 highest goal scorer and even the league best player last season. He was the most outstanding football player last season, I believed if was able to win the FIFA club world cup there won’t be questions about who will win the Ballon D’or.

Another advantage he has is that he is a French player, I know most people believe this advantage won’t count but I bet you it does.
