My question is simply. Is bitcoin community ready for a global trade ban of bitcoin? Are we ready to keep bitcoin running if one day all the countries decide to ban completely bitcoin? I am new in this and i love the idea of bitcoin and what it brings. But imo for what i have see until now i think if this happen then bitcoin will collapse.
In my opinion the weak point in bitcoin community is everyone that he want to get rich in one day with the digital currency and to trade their bitcoins to fiat money. All of them will run away if we have a global bitcoin ban.
To prevent this we need a bitcoin fiat price crash and the next step to be the real meaning of btc revolution and imo this is to be 1btc=1btc.
Sorry for my bad english but i want to write my thoughts Smiley

I doubt something like this can happen now, since there are so many organizations involved and gov is now involved.  I cant see that happening.

it can only be banned once

Unless the first time doesn't work. Then it can be banned a second and third time. China is setting the bar for us.

Is the third time the charm? We'll see on April 16th.

I guess the issue is not so much if it is banned but where do you get it from if your country bans exchanges and you cant use a foreign exchange?

The options I see are: mining (waste of time for 'joe public' really) or doing work for bitcoin or selling a product for it.

If you have some already then you can spend it I guess but when its gone where do you get more?

what happends april 16th?

April 15th is like D-day for Bitcoin exchanges in China. After April 15th, there will be no more deposits to Bitcoin exchanges from Chinese banks. Withdrawals will still be supported.

According to the report; unless it's FUD.

Bitcoin doesn't appear ready for an incoming China ban, let alone the world.

The China "market" was a naive pipedream.  China has some of the most stringent capital control measures in the world.  Bitcoin is simply a bad fit in China.

They are just a bunch of ignorant narrow-minded speculators who simply want to make some bucks.   They could care less about the Bitcoin technology and innovation.  Hell, they could care less about the idea of innovation, period.  Their government is Communist, for pete's sake.

Glad they are out.  Maybe now the price will settle up and stay there.

Who exactly is going to impose this "global ban?" There is no global authority. Even if there was how would they enforce it?

It certainly looks as if the bank in China is more powerful than the government. Regardless of whether they are one and the same or separate is of little difference to the people. The bank in China has the power to destroy the Chinese government with little effort required. I have no doubt they would if they felt it in their better interest...

They can force their financial institutions and payment processing platforms to not allow the conversion of btc into yaun.

As much as no-one enjoys admitting it, it's still a fiat world.  That will change in the future, but for now...

Prohibition doesn't work that well in the digital age bu I guess we can see what will happen later
The Russians and The Chinese may accept digital currencies soon if they are not secretly piling them up to replace their heavy reliance on the US dollar as the reserve currency.

Think about how bitcoin started.  Many of the first users were using it to make highly illegal purchases, mostly just drugs, and they were doing it without the government's permission.  If people really want to do something, then people will do it regardless of who tells them not to.  It's much like the failed prohibition act, losing drug war, and failure to stop prostitution.  Alcohol is now legal, marijuana is now legal in some states, and prostitution is not going away.  Also, unlike the previously mentioned, there is no moral conflict involved in bitcoins.  Let the IRS and the government figure out a way to take their cut and bitcoins will thrive and continue.
