If you want to keep your wallet information safe, then you should not click on any kind of link because you can lose your information. If you notice that your device is infected with a virus, then you should understand that your files can be stolen, so be careful. You can always use known exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase, you can definitely trust large trusted exchanges that will keep your assets safe.
How can you be so sure that your assets will be safe using an exchange? When you deposit Bitcoin on an exchange, the exchange has full control over the private keys of your exchange account, which means that you do not actually own 100% of your Bitcoin, and in this case I completely agree with Coyster that "not your keys, not your Bitcoin". Also, there can be many types of problems in exchanges, sometimes these exchanges freeze user funds for various reasons, that too without any permission from the user.

So pay full attention to Self-Custody, Self-Custody is a right, keep your private keys completely secret, use Cold Wallet or Hardware Wallet, these are the safest for long-term holding.
His post is very wrong. Using exchanges to store crypto is one of the most dangerous ways to do it. Unless you are very old or have very limited knowledge, you should not do this. Even in those cases, it is better to keep them in a highly regulated ETF. By keeping coins on an exchange you are just waiting for the next FTX to happen and then most of it is gone.

If there is one thing I’ve noticed from most legitimate support services like I find in the OP, it’s the continuous effort by support to ensure privacy is maintained even when there are issues with a service. When I see statements like this:

Quote
Remember, NEVER share your wallet backup — it must always stay private
and offline. Trezor will never ask for your wallet backup.

It’s always reassuring that it’s coming from the right source but, should they ever start getting into details, using what ever means to cut in on those privacy concerned details, you should just know you are talking to a potential scammer and resist them as best as you can.

In as far as this attack (phishing attack or social engineering attack) is old, it is still common today and unfortunately it still catches some victims, most especially since this kind of attacks are from legitimate looking account. But the warning still remains that do not share your phrase or keys with anybody.
Even a lousy scam attempt will still have those who will fall for it, especially if monetary reward is tied to it. It's even worse when it comes from what looks like a genuine email of the site. I've come to adopt a strategy of never to be in a hurry in responding to anything that hurriedly seeks my response if that response entails me submitting personal data. Such hurriedness triggers my antenna to search for a possible scam attempt.

Quote
One of my other scares from vulnerability like this is the emails of those affected are already exposed to hackers, path of the reason why using online storage method to store your seed phrase or private keys or passwords are considered to be bad
We can't emphasize the danger of that enough. It's a bad practice for those who do it. Nothing beats writing out such stuff manually. Yes, it takes a bit of time to do but then who's going to be in a hurry if they truly understand they will be exposing themselves to danger if they do otherwise? I guess those who do the online saving stuff don't understand the enormity of vulnerability they expose themselves to.

One of the CEOs of the aforementioned CEXs publicly states that 99% of people are not capable of guarding their cryptocurrencies and will lose them sooner or later.
The famous CZ, lol. His idea sounds crazy to quite a lot of us in this forum, but we'd be shocked at the number of people who actually believe him and would give up the custody of their assets because CZ and binance would offer them better protection against attacks. This same CEO has also brough another idea on how to allure people to leave their funds in binance, through drawing them an inheritance plan, you've read about that one right.

Too many people clearly share his opinion, which means he will very easily earn all those billions of $ he paid to stay free. The man literally says "you are stupid to keep your own money, I will do it for you (for a fee of course)".

If I were to guess what CEX's next move is, the idea that comes to mind is that it could be something like a test of each client to assess their ability to manage their digital assets. One day, clients start receiving messages saying "Sorry, your funds have been frozen because we have determined that you are not capable of managing them, a new assessment of your capabilities will be in x months."

Well I can't say for all though, but someone who is elite in the crypto space and understands how important their keys are, they won't be so stupid in sharing it to an email no matter where it's coming from.. the phishing scheme is becoming something else especially with emails.. fact is a good number of people still falls victims to this and the best way to prevent this from happening is to let them know that such things actually exist. I'm happy that trezor shared this as well..it shows how reputable they are and would be in the future....
It shouldn't surprise you that not everyone old in crypto space is really aware of phishing mails aside from newbies, Though the scammers, they're not mainly targeting crypto OG's, They're most targeted is the newbies and that's why the scammers responsible for sending out this Phishing mails are not relentless in doing what they're doing, this information is very useful to newbies in the space and also existing crypto enthusiasts that doesn't know what phishing is all about.

That's right...
Even those who are considered to be OGs in the crypto space are still vulnerable and can be swindled if they're lose their guard, and that's why matters that concerns security and safety of crypto is a matter of concern to every single person in the crypto space.
One thing about scammers is that, they're constantly updating their schemes and that's why it's also crucial for crypto users to also constantly furnish and update their knowledge, I know it's not always possible to be ahead of scammers but being updated gives us a fighting chance to avoid them and protect ourselves.

There are some investors who stay on the forum hoping to make more profit right from the start. And they always wait for good offers. Scammers are opportunists and they constantly keep their scams updated and cheat people with tempting offers. Those who stay on the forum regularly and analyze more can understand these tempting opportunistic tricks of scammers.

Therefore, those who target various offers for opportunities on the forum must know how to keep themselves in check and move forward with confidence in the forum. Control yourself and you will see that you will be able to earn the right to stay in a high position at some point as you get rid of the possibility of falling into the clutches of scammers.

Yes, you can lose your Bitcoin if you are too hasty in responding, this is definitely not only happening to Trezor as a cold wallet, other cold wallets must also get the same attack and try to trick all of us who have it.

So if you get any email from any party asking for a code or seed phrase from you, never share it, be it from a cold wallet or Hot wallet issuing company, beginners who enter this industry are much more easily fooled, so I suggest you be careful.

Being too hasty is 99% of the time the reason why people get scammed or lose their coins by accident, even for veterans who have far more experience than most of the people in this forum.

Scams or accidents can happen to anyone at any time. We get too relaxed by routine things and end up losing focus.

And phishing scams are not the only ways people lose their money.  For example, the copy/paste clipboard injection of a similar but different address. One moment of getting caught off-guard and your money is gone forever.

This clipboard injection is far more dangerous because it could be that people who have long been exposed to this method, this is very difficult to identify, if not to check the address then it will lose what to be sent, this method is quite difficult to do the infection, ordinary thieves will not be able.

Many people ignore their own safety in this world, even people like me, sometimes do not re -check what I write, without checking what is on my PC and cellphone, someone's amusement slipped something, this must be checked again.

All scammers' tactics and methods must be watched out for. Although phishing is one of the easiest scams, in a moment of haste and recklessness, it can be very effective. Scammers may send it to you via Telegram or Discord, or impersonate a Trezor’s account on X and send you a link to connect your wallet or enter your seed phrases. Doing research and verifying things is one of a good security practices. Any device can be infected with clipboard injection malware, due to the random downloading of programs or applications and opening websites randomly without verifying their safety.

Unfortunately, many people neglect to protect themselves. Even if they have a hardware wallet, ignoring necessary security measures can easily lead to losing their assets.  Scammers never stop, and we must also have the ability to confront them.

Scammers favor to use most common and available scam methods because they're are lazy and even don't have ability to think out of box and are not able to be creative.

You can read this one and understand about most common scams.
The cryptocurrency scambook.

Telegram, Discord, Facebook, X, WhatsApp and whatever platforms, there are always scammers who find and wait for naive people to scam them and steal money if possible. People only need to be knowledgeable and careful for simply and easily avoiding scam.

Scam can’t be totally eradicated from the crypto space that’s why people need to take their safety seriously and there is a saying that, not your keys, not your coin and this is to stress the importance of phrase safety and for no reason should one release their seed phrase to anyone no matter the circumstances surrounding it.
These scammers comes in absolutely several forms and as such you should be very careful, I feel more for the new comers whom might not be aware of all these warnings and still fall for these scams.
I’ve also understood that, most times pressure makes one take some drastic decisions and actions that they might later regret and the news with a wallet bridge be it centralized or decentralized wallet have the possibilities of sending pressure to an investors and in course of trying to take actions to secure their wallet, especially receiving an email from a phishing email is actually one great way to fall for these scams and in some cases, even people who already are aware of these might still fall if care isn’t taken to hard.

The rate of cybercrime is becoming alarming and we really need to be careful although I believe it is only newbies that will fall for this kind of attacks because anyone that knows the importance of seed phrase will never give it out since they understand the implications of what they are doing which is equivalent to giving out all the bitcoin they have in there wallet. However extreme care should be exercise especially while handling crypto related issues as long we are dealing with a second or third part because attackers will always come up with new tricks so security should always be the watch word.

Phishing attacks like this are actually nothing new, but there are still some who fall victim. The target may be beginners who are just entering the crypto world, but people who are already experienced in the crypto field will ignore this type of attack because they already have enough knowledge to protect their assets and are fully aware of how important it is to keep their code and seed phrase secure.
Beginners should build a strong foundation to keep their assets safe by educating themselves on how to secure their assets, they should also be more vigilant when faced with such attacks by verifying the related sources, if there is something suspicious, it is better to ignore it to prevent something bad from happening.

What is Trezor doing with the email contact list in the first place if it stays true to what Bitcoin (that made it) preaches?

Everyone is now crazy, they are only pretender who wants to gain from crypto one way or another, for I don't know why Trezor would demand an email. This is uncalled for in both payment and whatever reason they have, it is not an excuse, but selfishness. This is just like any other centralised system that wants to keep the customer on the hook.

I just opened my X account and read this;

https://i.ibb.co/fVkDy4nR/Screenshot-146.png
Source

Yes, you can lose your Bitcoin if you are too hasty in responding, this is definitely not only happening to Trezor as a cold wallet, other cold wallets must also get the same attack and try to trick all of us who have it.

So if you get any email from any party asking for a code or seed phrase from you, never share it, be it from a cold wallet or Hot wallet issuing company, beginners who enter this industry are much more easily fooled, so I suggest you be careful.
Actually i do appreciate Trezor, they did a good job by advising the dangers on how one can be able to loose his assets if he/she is not careful. I kind urge other digital wallets who face the same criteria
It’s actually not about being a newbie or being a crypto expert for years, one can possibly fall for these traps in the sense that these phishing nowadays looks so legit and real. Publishing these phishing schemes in the internet can save one who doesn’t know or isn’t aware of the process and might end up being a victim.

Trevor is using the contact list to send updates of their products and services to their customers. How the emails are gotten is when users purchase their devices or subscribe to their newsletter. People who subscribed to their newsletter do it voluntarily, they do not have guns pointed at their heads. But if you want to buy their device, you may choose not to use your real email address.

Those trusted exchange you mentioned are not safe either because you are not in control of the assets in it. There's a popular saying on the crypto space which says that "not your key - not your coins" so this is a good theory which you should understand that since it's a centralize exchange it can be hacked anytime.

That is it, it started this way unsuspected and unbothered, but it's wrong in my opinion. I don't have Trevor's wallet, so I didn't know it even worked like this. I thought everything was planned privately for being a hard wallet, which is most secure, so I am disappointed. All these big names are just making money in the name of crypto, but they lack the mind, spirit and plan of Satoshi. Everything should have been done without a contact, in my opinion.

As for the update, can't that be done generally without contacting anyone? Any news and developments can also be regularly be informed on their public outlets.

Usually users who do not have much experience with the typical like to open random links that often experience bad events.

In the practice of maintaining asset security, all things that have the possibility of losing assets must be properly guarded. Seed phrases and/or activate keys and passwords should not be used as toys.
There have been many reminders to be careful in online activities and many have been victimized by opening links sent via email or through other actions. Every reminder has an example. Enough of those who have been victimized, let us not be the next.

So, caution really needs to be prioritized. Including me.

Lesson? Always, always read the content first, and always look for the link twice or even thrice if it's the legit one or not.

Even the so-called "Safest" wallet isn't safe from these type of scams. Speaking of scams, these are quite common nowadays, but somehow it works and the primary targets of this scam are those newbies, ignorant ones and like you said, the hasty ones that just responds without having second thought. What's good is that they manage to solve this problem, but expect more of these in the future.

Always read the content, don't click links randomly, and of course, don't share your seed phrase from other people. Anyway, instead of them tricking you, why don't you just do the opposite and you trick them. Give them a random 12-word seed phrase. Cheesy

These kind of phishing messages should be detected and blocked by the email system's anti-phishing feature.

Sadly a lot of mail providers are too buy trying to figure out how to place larger ads on your mailbox instead of focusing on this.
