So do not completely trust your mentors that you ignore research, especially mentors that have no personal relationship with you.

On a normal ground even if is not about mentorship in bitcoin related case, making personal research is alway crucial. You don't have to based your facts or trust on someone else findings, you get find it out yourself for proper confirmation. Over the years many people has been a victim of such act, they beleive so much in what they're being told even more than their own self which is bad, nobody can do it better than ourselves.

For sure, I understand that in the business there're upper hands, there are Ogs, people's that matters, people's that were there before you, yeah no doubt but it's more in our own personal advantage when we sort out things or informations by ourselves.

If a mentor gives an advice or knowledge, it's best you verify that knowledge. Just swallowing it without asking questions shows that you too can't do your research on your own. Mentors can make mistakes doesn't mean they are very horrible in information giving. I am just saying this as a human that can unknowingly make mistake. I know your mentors have years of experience but still, verify any claims. I too make small research even though I can't make enormous research on something, but at least I put that effort to search.

I with the saying Don't trust but verify, you don't have to trust everything from the mouth or table of your mentor you should also have your own research ability while relying on him for some pieces of information. Don't depend on him much, always know when to turn a piece of information into a question even if you can't get the best answer from your mentor at least it will give you a clue on which area to search on.

A mentor can also be wrong so instead of just believing whatever anyone says about an investment, it's good to carry out a personal research to be sure that the information or advise about the investment is very legit, we’re humans afterall and a mentor can also make mistakes too, sometimes the investment might be legit but the strategy or method of investing a mentor is advising might be wrong. It's true as a wiser individual to learn through or under someone as a mentor, but don't relaying on the mentor to make a decision for you. Because once they control all your decisions you may be falling into different traps and you can't challenge him for that, but the only thing is, acquiring all the advices, his past experiences both good and bad and learn a lessons from their mistakes is a good ideas, then when it comes to decisions making about market movements, then you have yourself to be blamed when things gone wrong. Yes it is absolutely true that a mentor can teach us a lot of valuable experience but before following their recommendations we should definitely verify them when the risk is our own. I don't have a mentor but I think forum as my mentor, the most surprising thing is that almost everything I have learned from the forum is legit. Many times I have received wrong information but along with that many people have corrected those mistakes. For me the forum is a trusted mentor through which almost whatever I learn is legit I can learn something without any worry.

I was having a discussion yesterday with a person I consider more skilled in trading than I am and the purpose of my discussion was to learn a bit from his experience about his journey so far in cryptocurrency trading to at least gather some motivation from it. While discussing he was recommending some of the applications that he had used all through his trading journey to where he is now and then it hit me suddenly that most times different people are exposed to different applications and depending on whom you are learning something from, or asking a question, it is not just their approach that they teach you, but they also refer you to applications that they make use of. Now I am not saying all the applications they refer us to are bad, but it is important and very necessary that we do our own research about the applications we are referred to. A mentor may be referring us to an application that they have an affiliation with or will have some benefit from without even considering that that application is not the best out there for the purpose you want it for.

This is quite common in the crypto space in a whole . Mostly those top influencers on X , some of them don’t even know what they’re selling to people, Aslong the project is ready to pay them they are ready to chill it. Putting their community at risk , because they are going to be the users of those projects. This how most shitcoins gain their hype , they are usually paid to shill that shitcoins to their various community without any concern that those they are pushing that project to can literally loss alot in the process of buying that same shitcoin. That’s why you have to make researching an habit because most of those influencers know nothing apart from how to promote shit projects .

I believe this is one of the positives thing of having a forum as your mentor.  You don't have to depend on one person's experience as other people can offer a different perspective or point out where something is wrong. Even if it is bad information which has been given, the subsequent discussion can help to reveal it.  I also love the fact that you can view different people's points of view before making your own decision.

But when it comes to having one person as a mentor it will be more difficult to receive open feedback,  since you might take their experience as the correct way to do things.

Trust is key when it comes to mentorships and once it’s exploited for personal gains it becomes difficult to make headway. Some of this so called mentors and gurus make a living off their students, referring them to affiliate brands the have commissions from. When a mentor decides to make profit at the cost of his or her student then one can say threading with caution is the best alternative. My advice is to make sure you do your proper research before going to anyone for mentorship do not just take peoples word for it. When deals with someone who has a certain level of gain off your loses you need to make sure you pay attention to details before you get cut off guard.

That aside, OP there is something you need to understand literally almost no trader will teach you his strategy full time. Yes it's factual no one wants to share what they studied and understood over a prolonged space of a couple year for just a token of cash.

On the contrary, a mentor who has a personal relationship with you and is genuinely concerned for your progress will try as much as they can to make trading profitable for you in the shortest time possible.

It seems you are trying to cover a km distance using half the distance, no mentor will want to teach using a short period, if he really wants to share you the best knowledge. For those of us who have served and understood that knowing the basic is important, short ways are the reasons why most traders are not making profits and are losing consistently, all blame to Bitcoin. You choose the right mentor, learn the possible way without looking for short way of profits.

I think you miss the context of his post, he didn't say using a short cut, he was trying to say or mean learning trading faster and profitable  than how he [the mentor] learnt his. Personally I think the idea of making profitable trades takes time is a bit overracted and it doesn't always have to be that way. E depend on the particular knowledge of trade you get.
