With the depth of knowledge we now have concerning how to save wallet phrases and the danger associated with just being the only one to know about your crypto lifestyle among all of your family members, I don't think any of my accumulated assets, if there be one, will get lost if aged up and my creator calls, because before any of my child will get to 12 years of age I will try as much as I can to give them all necessary tips and knowledge about crypto and how to uncover the security to my wallet, they might not easily get access to it but if need be all of them putting head together nothing will be lost.

By your last statement, are trying to suggest that you’ll split your seed phrases amongst your children or family? That they’ll need to come together and all bring out their various halves of the phrase and together they’ll be able to unlock your wallet and get you funds out?? Is that what you’re indirectly attempting to suggest or maybe I’m missing the whole thing.  Cheesy

The meaning you are reading could be the case, but I have a lot of options sleeping in my head right now, not just a way to save for the future, but also the possibility of avoiding issue of favoritism, and a case of trust in terms of greed coming into play, options like one of the family could know that I have wallet backup somewhere which might not have the idea of where it is, why the other might have idea of where all my safe could be but don't know the exact combination to unlock it and the other could also know about my possible key combination when it comes to setting up locks, there are more to it let's just leave the mystery unsolved till then.

An idea I feel can be pretty effective is just splitting the keys amongst them, according to their status of seniority, which means the first child gets the first part of the phrases, then the second gets another part and then the third and so forth, that way they’ll need each other in order to access the funds in the wallet. But then again, what if something happens and one of them misplaced their own part of the keys? Then that’ll only mean losing everything right?

In that case, we can still store the backup somewhere just in case one of the kid misplaces his part. A backup can be stored somewhere which is accessible only to our family or maybe trusting the partner and storing backing with them might even be a good backup plan depending on the relationship status.

It can even be fun to create a treasure map and bury the keys someplace within our property and save the treasure map someplace which can will only be accessible if in case something happens to us. Maybe telling the oldest kid about the treasure map and telling him this can only be accessed if anything happens to me will be useful but that kid should not just go look for the map because he wants his girlfriend to have a better time.

What happens to your crypto if something happens to you?  Have you really prepared for that?
This is something that’s been on my mind lately ,and I think it’s something many of us in the crypto space avoid talking about.

We go to great lengths to protect our private keys and seed phrases. Cold wallets, metal backups, multi-sig setups... we lock everything down so no one but us has access. That’s great for security — but what if you suddenly die or fall into a coma? Would your spouse, kids, or family be able to access your crypto?

A lot of people might say, “I’ve written it down somewhere, they’ll figure it out.” But let’s be honest — in a real emergency, things get messy. Crypto isn’t like a traditional bank account where someone can just present a death certificate and get access. If you haven’t made a clear and secure plan, your coins could end up lost forever.

I actually know someone this happened to — a guy I met a while back died unexpectedly in an accident. He had a cold wallet with a decent chunk of BTC, and to this day, his wife still hasn’t been able to recover any of it. He didn’t use any kind of inheritance system or trusted setup. It’s just... gone.

After seeing the news I'll quote below, I thought about the same thing you started this thread about: for example, who will receive the money held by crypto millionaires, and who will receive our cryptocurrency from wallets? How will it be transferred?

Quote
Cryptocurrency businessman Alexey Dolgikh died in a car accident in Moscow. His Lamborghini crashed into a pole and caught fire.

Law enforcement agencies told TASS that the accident involving the Lamborghini occurred overnight on the International Highway. The car struck a guardrail, then overturned and caught fire. According to the Moscow Interior Ministry, two people were killed and two more were injured in the incident.

According to Baza, there were four people in the Lamborghini Urus. Dolgikh was driving and died at the scene. His passenger, Ivan Solovyov, also died in the accident. Two other men were hospitalized: 21-year-old Nikita Tezikov was diagnosed with an open leg fracture, and 22-year-old Kirill Mochalov was taken to Botkin Hospital with multiple fractures.

Baza reports that Dolgikh purchased the car for 35 million rubles in August 2024.  During his ownership, he accumulated more than 500 fines totaling over one million rubles.

This question remains unresolved for me personally, as it does for most cryptocurrency users. I don't know what else to do. I could leave my wallet's full phrase with someone, but how secure is that? I could leave 11 words in a bank safe and tell my parents the remaining keyword. There are many options, but they're all questionable...

I don't think people are avoiding this discussion, and as a fact, it has been discussed many times on the forum. The issue is that we procrastinate so much, and most times, we live our lives as if tomorrow is sure, which is the reason why some people and their families lose their crypto assets forever, in case of unforeseen circumstances.

It's even good now that CEX has been introducing next of kin claims. I've not used it before, but I hope there are plans in it that will make the CEX contact the next of kin by themselves after the account owner is inactive and becomes unreachable for a certain period of time. But as people run from the custodial arrangements, it should dawn on them to plan for the unforeseen. It's just like a Will, there should be a plan to transfer the crypto assets to their people.

There is no nominee when it comes to crypto. If something happens to us, the cryptos will be lost in the network and can never be used again if we have never shared the private keys with anyone. That's why it is always necessary to have a backup plan if in case something like this comes up.

We can always share the private keys with our loved ones and tell them what needs to be done in a situation like this or we can store the private keys in a bank locker which can only be accessed by our loved ones after we pass away. Life is unpredictable and anything can happen so it is always better to have a backup plan so at least our family can enjoy the profits.

Agreed… it’ll be foolish to entrust the safety of your Portfolio to your kids. not like we pray for something bad but there’s no saying what life holds and how unpredictable life can be. If something should happen and one of those kids are no more, that’ll only mean all your Bitcoin is gone, so distributing it to your kids would only serve as plan B method of backing up your phrases, but the plan A should still be yours to decide.

It is heavily reliant on the situation in question..Life indeed may sometimes be unpredictable and bad to us, when we least expect it too, just like in a game of sorts Cheesy

Its good ideas and I think most security back up wallet by saving the phrase or private key of bitcoin and altcoin assets in the Bank locker which only access by our self or our lovely family after we pass away. So far many people saving back up wallet in their mobile phones or computer and its easily access by any one else if something bad happening with our mobile phone or computer. Saving private key or phrase wallet in the Bank locker likely more secure than other place with possibility access by the other.

We can't predictable how long still life and can't anticipation if something bad happen to us, so share your private key with your trusted friend, family or any one else you can guarantee them as the most trusted person. Right now many broke relationship about money or assets and don't trust any one else for sharing your private key wallet.

Bayern Munich is in their best form this season compared to the past few seasons. They only drew the last match in the Bundesliga, we have seen Munich win in all the other matches. Bayern munich has won  all four matches in the Champions League. Bayern Munich is also at the top of the table with 14 goals in 4 matches.

Munich has a strong squad. At the same time, we can see that Kompany's tactics are also excellent. Munich has been able  to defeat teams like PSG due to his descent tactics. Now Kompany's next target is  to defeat Arsenal. Will Kompany be able to get full points against Arsenal ?
I think quite interested upcoming champion league match Bayern vs Arsenal, both teams unbeaten all 4 matches in phase league round and waiting for which one can defend the unbeaten would be Bayern Munich or Arsenal. All prediction looks like favoriting Bayern Munich after winning achievement last match from PSG and have more confidence for defeating Arsenal and giving first loss in Champion league match.

Champion League matchday 6 will play at 26 to 27 November, due international break upcoming this week I think many club get worry will their player getting injury at international break match and will absent for upcoming match in champion league? Now have entering at crucial matchday behind 4 matches left and all teams won't eliminated from the top 9th position or outside from the playoff round standings position.

The way I'm keeping my cryptos it's clear that if something happens to me, everything is lost but I prefer this over other plans. I've memorized my seed phrases, which means that the key of my Bitcoin is only stored in my brain, i.e. in other words, no one can find any physical or virtual information about my wallet's seeds, which means that I'm extremely secured at some point but very vulnerable to lots of threats at the same time but I prefer it this way.
If you tell your keys to your family members, it has pros and cons too. A good thing is that if something happens to you, they won't lose your Bitcoins but the bad thing is what if there is a huge issue between you and your spouse and she steals coins? It's not an easy thing for discussion, it's very complex and complicated subject.

I don't even have seed phrase outside for now cos I don't have much to be considering hardware wallet for now but in future I will do. If I ever want to back up my wallet, I will do it like everyone is doing but my father will know about it, I don't care what other people think about their families and their seed phrase exposure but there should be someone close as family that will never betray you, if you don't have anybody that can be trusted them you need to check your circle.

It's a norm to not share seed phrase for security reasons which is good but we have to also consider things like this. I'm not hoping to die now and I don't want to see my self die before my time but we don't know what tomorrow hold if I'm to be honest. We need to let someone close know about one or two things about us because things. I will have my wallet to my blood person than die and allow my money rot for nothing, I don't wish for such.

if someones dies and his or her bitcoin gets lost its actually 2 bad news at ones, because probably part of the plan or the fortune of that investment, is to help his or her family as well, so loosing it is not good, the best thing any investor can do is to give the details of his bitcoin to his trusted lawyer, because even lawyers too can be fraud and can take your death as a way to get rich, so even your lawyers are not to be totally trusted except you guys are close,
Another the best option should be 2 individual awareness, maybe your marriage partner and lawyer should be a good meg. but the goal is to keep it with a trust worthy person it must not have to be a 2 individuals or a lawyer, even if it is your very close friend it still works. Nobody knows tomorrow we all pray for long life and prosperity, but you should do what is right and necessary.

I already teach and explain to my family how to access my crypto and if something bad happens to me, I hope they can access my crypto and use it to continue their life. With the crypto I have, they don't have to worry about earning money because I prepared a nice amount for them to survive. But they still need to make money with their ability and not just depend on my crypto.

If you want to give Bitcoin as your legacy, you need to prepare many things including teaching your family how to use it. Maybe it needs time until they understand but it is worth it so they can use our crypto without a problem.
It is good to educate family members about crypto, but if they do not know the passwords or seeds, then it is not possible to find them even if they have the knowledge. Therefore, in addition to educating family members about decentralized technology, it is necessary to inform them about where the passwords are stored so that later, even if we are not there, family members can find our hard-earned money and use it to change their financial situation. I think it is good to have privacy, but it is better to give some information to some family members in advance so that they can learn about these assets and save themselves later.

If I am no longer alife and my siblings want to claim my bitcoin, that wouldn't be an emergency situation. So, there's no iota of emergency and I don't see anything going messy. Meanwhile, it is expected that you teach any of your trusted siblings how to claim bitcoin with a particular seed phrase.

If it were to be my over religious uncle, he will say something like this, "God forbid, nothing will happen to me, I'll live to reap the fruits of my labour" lol. That been said, let's not be like my uncle because anything could happen anytime. Let's be alert

Personal Keywords/seedphases should be shared only within blood relations and not with outsiders. They should be shared with the most intelligent member of the family. If you share with honest and relatively good members, if something unexpected happens to you, they will be able to recover the Bitcoin you left behind and distribute it to your family members. It turns out that someone you shared your Bitcoin with, but after your sudden unexpected accident or death, he embezzled it all by himself. So you shouldn't share it with someone who will be unfaithful to you even after your death.

Bitcoin is already lose and can never be recover if your the only one knows your seed phrase your the only one who can open your wallet so if you die no one can open it anymore, This lost Bitcoin kinda contribute on increasing the market price price because it just means the supply is getting lower, since those Bitcoin will never move it just like we burn a Bitcoin supply. For a long time its already been a topic here in the forum,so I already have a backup plan, its easy you just need to let someone that you trust about it.

In my case I have my notebook where my password, seed phase etc. is all written and I told someone I trust about it that when I die this is where you could access my Bitcoins. But ofcourse make sure that your going to give it to someone that you really trust like your spouse or something, or probably a family member, not just your friend. I wouldnt even share a lot to a friend that I have a cryptocurrency investment unless you really trust your friend, even with your financial, in that case atleast dont share your seed phrase.

You didn't even talk about the possibility of any of the child losing their life or falling into sickness that could possibly mess with their mental health then, looking for the same funds stored in the seed phrase for treatment but could not because  the sick child for one reason or the other can not be able to provide his own part of the seed phrase. It just does not make much sense to me unless again if the dad has hide another copy of the seed phrase somewhere else and is just doing this for the purpose of uniting them and not necessarily to store it with them.

~~~
The way I'm keeping my cryptos it's clear that if something happens to me, everything is lost but I prefer this over other plans. I've memorized my seed phrases, which means that the key of my Bitcoin is only stored in my brain, i.e. in other words, no one can find any physical or virtual information about my wallet's seeds, which means that I'm extremely secured at some point but very vulnerable to lots of threats at the same time but I prefer it this way.
If you tell your keys to your family members, it has pros and cons too. A good thing is that if something happens to you, they won't lose your Bitcoins but the bad thing is what if there is a huge issue between you and your spouse and she steals coins? It's not an easy thing for discussion, it's very complex and complicated subject.
Keeping your crypto seed phrases in your head looks like the most secured way of keeping your keys safe but it is also the most risky way of doing that because it can easily get lost in your brain no matter how well you must have rehears it. I think the best way I could store my seed phrase if I must involve family is to inform my wife about it. It does not have to be under her custody but I will give her a cue about it and if I trust her enough, why won't her tell her.
