The KSA’s investigation began after reports surfaced of LeftlanePapi, whose real name is Djade Sadloe, livestreaming and promoting gambling activities on platforms not licensed in the Netherlands, such as Skyhills.com.

The influencer’s YouTube channel, with over 53,000 subscribers, featured videos that not only showcased live gambling but also included direct links and invitations for viewers to participate, as well as access to a Dutch-language Discord channel for additional support.

As a result of non-compliance, the KSA imposed a penalty order requiring the immediate cessation of all illegal promotional activities.

The order stipulates a fine of €25,000 (£21,519) per violation, up to a maximum of €75,000 (£64,559.62). If the influencer fails to comply, the regulator will also approach the social media platform directly to ensure the removal of harmful content.

It's just the same as unregistered ICO projects way before, like in 2017-2018 wherein there are a lot of celebrity endorsers who didn't do their due diligence to check and so they were fine. The only difference though is that in gambling, it's really hard to turn down this kind of offers as it involved a lot of money and so this influencers are accepting that free money to promote and maybe they can give residual income as well for those who are going to sign under them, like a referral link. And it depends on the country itself if they are going to imposed this kind of rules. As we all know, with the advent of online gambling, many people are becoming addict and we don't hear government that allows gambling freely to do something about it. And for casino, it's business for them, the better the influencer they got and pay them with right amount of money to attract new gamblers, the better for them as they make a lot of profits.

Here in our country, gambling streamers are very rampant, many of them are seen doing this on Facebook and even on YouTube. Even though it is illegal, they will say that the online

It won't matter unless you are popular. Its the only time where people will click report but when you are no one, they'd just let the video die out it won't have effect to someone. The casino didn't just stick to spamming and wants to level up.

The influencer somehow has more than 50k subscribers, somebody reported him. Regardless of the motive, the casino he promoted violated the regulation thus the investigation.

this has been a common phenomenon since there are many of streamers and various channel/ media where you can broadcast a show.
the rule (or the safe for the player) is just to make his own research and understand if and how a site could be trusted or not.
scamming platforms are common (and even highly promoted in some case). Its player responsibility verify what and where he is going to play.

If you have a big influence in terms of people following you and you know your audience, it's up to the influencer. This is because if you have adult people as your audience, it's okay IMO. After all, they are grown people who can decide for themselves. If they have children looking up to them and you promote gambling, it sends a different message. It should be a different story IMO.

If the influencer is already a gambling enthusiast from the start of their streaming career, I don't see anything wrong with that, of course, as long as the gambling site they are promoting is 100% legit and paying (lots of unregistered gambling platforms nowadays, so take it or leave it).

If the influencer shifts into promoting gambling, where in the first place it's outside their common genre in doing streams, then I strongly advise not to support these streamers. Why? Because the majority of their followers are not into gambling, and influencing these people might lead to a worst-case scenario.

Depending on the size of the streamer and how much they got paid to promote this site, they might still actually be in profit - especially if they did it over a long time period. Gambling is a very lucrative industry with high advertising costs, so they love these more creative forms of sponsorship as fans can be encouraged to join much more directly. Usually if a streamer has a wide fan base that is not tied to a single country they would avoid targeting their home country for exactly this reason. It seems this relatively small fish in the streaming world has been caught but will probably recover fairly quick, it'll be hard for him to do any gambling ads in future unless he moves country.

That's their problem to be honest, and if I am an influencer and some casinos approach me to get a paid partnership, I won't agree quickly to what they are offering me.

I'll have to do my own research first if they're registered and legitimate before I agree to their deal. But since I am no influencer, this is not a problem for me.

These influencers need to be more responsible to the deals that they're accepting because not just in casinos that this happens but also in investment schemes. What they accept is the fee but they don't think of the audience that might get into these brands that they're advertising.

If Im an influencer and got a chance to promote gambling on social media then I would as long as I see some rules that promoting it wont put me in trouble. Why would I do that or agree to promoting, this is a theoretical answer that I am an influencer. If you are a KOL you must used your reach for promotions but be smart to these kind of stuff that could compromise you.

It depends on the influencer himself whether he wants to take the risk or not --- especially in the area, for example, where gambling is prohibited, this is very vulnerable for influencers to be arrested and fined due to their non-compliance with government regulations.

Personally, I would not do it if the area does not register its casino or is a prohibited area, because dealing with government law would be very complicated.

The problem when it comes to YouTube and what is advertised,  its pretty much unregulated water's.  But one thing I know for sure is that YouTube takes down most of these gambling related videos that don't follow their guidelines especially when links are included etcetera ,  btw does the court have a jurisdiction over such content especially that YouTube is kind of an international platform..what if the youtubers defense was that the audience wasn't for his home country   

Just hope the money was worth it for such promotions and risking a 50K channel.

this is why we hear a lot of them spread even products or services that are not actually good because they do not actually use it themselves they only make it seem like they enjoy it only because they were paid to do so

Promoting gambling is a delicate discussion, it depends on how it is set up, clearly if you stream games and similar things it is a not very recommendable way,
in some cases I have seen advertising in a hidden way.
Basically the promoter gives bonuses to their fans by signing up to the platform, in this case it is a gift without promotion and in case of a complaint you have a way to defend yourself, they cannot prohibit you from giving gifts to your fans.

The penalty that is slammed on the fluencer in the OP should serve as a deterant to others who wants to promote something that is illegal just for the money, not considering the risks on the people that they're influencing. People who click on illegal casino sites through influencers and get scammed shout hold the influencer that promoted it accountable. People do all sorts of things to get paid, not considering that if what they are promoting is a scam it'll affect their integrity but clearly it means nothing to them so far they are getting paid. People should not be too quick to accept anything that they see and hear on social media, DYOR before making a decision.

This is always the problem since they intentionally do a due diligence on the casino they are promoting due to the money involved.

They frequently put disclaimer and that’s all while they can do a court battle for the fraction of their fee if ever they encounter the legal issue.

As long as they got huge money they can promote everything.

Will not promote gambling on social media pages such as X, Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok because gambling in my area has prohibited it.

There have been many cases of local influencers promoting gambling sites via streaming, either showing advertisements or playing live, then it will be responded to by law enforcement, because gambling here is very strict, especially if the public goes to social media.

Because they don't want to take risks, they won't become influencers.
Even though the pay is high - they won't be tempted.
