Crypto scams will continue to seek victims in various ways. They use various methods, from offering tempting profits through Telegram chats, emails, and other social media. However, this type of scam is actually easy to spot as long as we are careful and vigilant when chatting or when someone sends a link.

If you receive a suspicious chat, you should immediately block it. If it comes from a group you don't belong to, you should leave and block it. One of the easiest ways to become a victim of phishing or fraud is for those who are greedy and careless when seeking information and immediately click on the shared website. I quite often receive chats like this from social media, and I immediately block them. I'm grateful that so far I've never been a victim of a scam. I hope it never happens again, because it's very painful.

The activities of crypto related airdrop made it worse for people to be scams. Last year this time, I was really piss off by the spams and messages I was getting on the app even if I don't want anything interested. At some points, even Telegram was frustrating was making adverts for some of those projects and it was easy for scammers to penetrate users and scam them, promising all kind of return on investment that are not feasible. Most of the new users that joined telegram were victims of this scams.

The earlier everyone realized that scams comes with trend, the better they can avoid this scams. There was a time nfts was everywhere, buying and selling of all sort of images but today it's no longer bringing money because the hype is gone. Even AI at some points was one niche, people were making promises of all kind to people to revolutionize different things but the only thing I have seen AI has done is play around with privacy and improved them.

It's never cease to amaze me how scammers eventually brings something unique and new to eventually trick you. Is there any school or college dedicated for learn scamming? Cause everytime I saw there's something new they come up with. The more we getting aware of it they were improving themselves more to scam with new way. I wonder if they would put those effort tho do something good for world ,for our society.

Believe it or not they are the most hardworker I've ever seen ig.

It's not that these scammers are improving, but rather, there are lots of potential users who can easily be baited.

Scammers are always there as long as there are potential victims. The cycle just repeats.

So many red flags. If there indeed were sensitive photos of mine in the internet, then why not just send some screenshots? Why send a suspicions looking link? One has to be very dumb for to fall at such scam tactics. Those who has the simplest idea about scammers and their methods, would avoid such links. For me I would just ignore the message, delete it, probably block him and move on. Not worth my time.

Anyway, I know humans sometimes cannot resist the curiosity of clicking such links. Even after fully knowing the risks associated with it. So my question is, is there any tools or site that will tell me more about these links. Like for example, copy the link, paste it into their tool/site and it tells me the potential dangers and maybe show pictures, what's behind the other side? Just asking...

However, the second message prompted me to investigate further. When I clicked on the link,my browser issued a warning, confirming my suspicions of a phishing attack.
Curiosity, they say, kills the cat.

Yeah, I know it's not a bad thing to be curious but when it comes to cyber security I'm highly conscious not to trigger anything that will jeopardize me online. I wouldn't have gone ahead to click on that link. Nah! To even make it worse, on Telegram? That's a double red flag. To make it worse, it came from a total stranger and it was unsolicited.

For me, the rule is very simple. Any unsolicited DM from a stranger raises my suspicion of a scam waiting to be triggered. Telegram is the worst place to give a stranger a chance at friendship or business. They will exploit you.

You are right crypto scams are common and always changing their methods mostly give fake offers on social media or send bad links in messages. Being careful is key as most scams are easy to spot if you just think before clicking. It is good to block suspicious messages and leave unknown groups.

And you are also right that greed and if not careful mostly lead people to fall for these scams. It is easy to get excited by big promises which is exactly what scammers wants. It is great you have not been scammed and stay updated and cautious to stay safe from these threats.

Aside from being greedy is being excited and don't have time to analyzed the situation, once they have read like free bitcoin or free token/money, they lost the ability to process the situation they are in, even though they have read lots of news, also warnings.
Scammers will always find a way to scam people, we just have to be alert every time, and just don't decided immediately because we are happy or excited.
I have been a victim before and learn a lot ever since, that happen to me.

Always review the fee and output amounts before hitting send, especially if you’re using advanced features or third-party services.

It’s a tough lesson, but you’re definitely not alone.

Telegram is really messed up and in need of  thorough cleaning, I receive messages on a daily basis with the same message format of me being given a casino bonus and some funny links, sometimes its telegram username offers of them trying to buy it , sometimes its one of those airdrop messages but these guys forget that I have been arround for a very long time and well aware of these tricks...i just "delete and report" and move on..

**btw upon opening the messages country usually  shows Indonesia and wondering if these want to be kings of scamming **

And thanks for the alert OP.

Scammers are always there as long as there are potential victims. The cycle just repeats.
It's always both sides; scammers are improving and upgrading their strategies. Some who might not fall victim to their strategy A might with their strategy C. There are also those victims who are very vulnerable to these scammers, so no matter how little the scammers try, they will get them and end up achieving their purpose. It's as simple as that. It's not just about the users who are bait for this scammer; everyone is almost a target for them. Whoever falls into their trap becomes the victim.

These scammers operate like casting a fishing net, targeting random victims and waiting for their response. What they are really waiting for is the potential victim's situation. In some cases, it is beginners with little experience who become victims. However, with other fraud schemes, even experienced individuals can fall victim.

For example, mistakes like copying and pasting the wrong address in a recent transaction are likely to be made. They definitely target users who are accustomed to making routine transactions, and potential victims may be careless.

There are so many scammers these days, and we must be more vigilant to protect our assets.

I totally agree with the statement "casting a fishing net". I have experienced enough scam attempts at telegram to know this to be true to the core. Literally every couple of days I would get this random unsolicited messages at telegram discord, telling me about some unrealistic opportunities. For example, remember the telegram username scam using the fragment site!? I got approached by some random guys 5-6 times for the same thing. Different scammers same tactics. This tells us they will target everyone until someone falls victim to it.

The best way would be avoiding using these platforms if possible, if your livelihood doesn't depends on them.

With the links look its already suspicious enough to avoid it. Many users whom usually dming us on telegram are most likely scammers. Dont ever engage or interact with this users, sometimes they gonna pose as legit user showing off their premium, but remember premium users can just be bought off to susbscription and evem scammers can spend for that to make it look likes they are legit.

Greetings Mates!I decided to create this topic to keep everyone informed about a rapidly growing scam trending on telegram.I've received two messages from unknown persons on Telegram,one on June 21 and another yesterday,both promoting the same scam.Initially,I ignored the first message,recognizing it as a potential scam. However,the second message prompted me to investigate further.When I clicked on the link,my browser issued a warning,confirming my suspicions of a phishing attack.Here is the warning my browser issued to me;
It’s so obvious that the link is really a fake one, why will random person even chat you on telegram with a link, it doesn’t make sense, and you don’t even have to click the link before you know it’s a scam. I don’t even think you are suppose to click the link to confirm anything, it’s kind of risky, since guy can identify that it’s a scam, next time don’t just click the link. If you receive links like this from random people, what you are suppose to do is just to block the user, and delete the message.

The best way would be avoiding using these platforms if possible, if your livelihood doesn't depends on them.
Those who use the platform can still use it safely. If you don't want to be harassed by scammers or unwanted messages, you simply need to avoid joining general groups like those offering airdrops or free trading signals.
If you use your account on the platform solely for your business, I think it is unlikely that scammers will target your account. We can only join groups or channels that we truly care about and need.

That's not always the case. Currently, I have two accounts. One is filled with channels related to cryoto and one is not, only my personal trusted contacts. And every scam messages I ever recieved was on that first account. As for the 2nd one, there isn't a single unsolicited msg. What I'm trying to convey here is that as long as you don't expose your account, (carefully choosing legit channel is irrelevant), you should be safe. But as soon as you join any channels related to crypto, expect messages from scammers. That's why I said, it's better if we stopped using it. or keep it absolutely private from general viewers.

Detailed explanation on what the phishing tactic looks like :you'll receive a message from a scammer with a link, claiming to feature your pictures on a website.The goal is to pique your curiosity and entice you to click the link. However,it's wise not to investigate further,as these sites are often malicious and can pose a significant threat.Here's an example of what the message might look like;

There are scammers everywhere, and I usually don't think twice about what I'm going to do next when I receive a message from an unknown individual on Facebook, WhatsApp, or Telegram attempting to offer me something by sending me links, I used to block the users directly.  Because I know that if I make a mistake and they get a chance to scam me, I will regret it. and we also need to be alert because sometimes what the scammers do when they gain access to any of your friends, family, or others you may know account, they will now claim to be the account owner, seeking for money or your personal information. I received such messages several times. Just last week, my bro Facebook account was hacked, and the user started requesting urgent money, and from the user conversation, I immediately noticed that something is fishing, so I had to call my brother to tell him what's going on. We need to be vigilant to avoid clicking any suspicious links.

If you receive links like this from random people, what you are suppose to do is just to block the user, and delete the message.
Also, if we find such fake accounts that display photos of naked women, we should never send them DMs or engage in sexual conversations with them because they will try to blackmail the person with recorded clips, threatening to expose them.

Also, after they gain the person's trust, they will might attempt to lure them into a fraudulent trading platform or send them a phishing link just like happened with the OP. That’s why no one should trust strangers, as most of these accounts were created specifically to target investors and those who are involved in the crypto space, especially beginners.

Best to just block and delete. If you get weird links from random people.
