Is a University Degree Still Worth Anything?

The situation of my country has made it look like a degree is no longer worth chasing because those that are graduates are even the ones struggling than those that haven't been in the forewalls of a university. But even with all these it still doesn't undermine the importance of education and having a degree it's just that the government and leaders are heartless and corrupt.

Who are we going to blame for this kind of situation in a country, when degrees are no longer value in the companies. I think government have to be blame on this kind of situation because the graduates have spend a lot of funds to acquired those degrees in a university, hoping that they will get a better Job that will change their life forever but no good Job in the country that will help them to earn a good salary that will make them look good like someone that have degree, if the government can build more companies or create more opportunity for citizens to bring in foreign investors into the country, I think it will make job to be available for those that want to use their degrees to get a good Job in the country.

For me I do not think it does really matter in todays world. I have started a small fund for both of my nephews to attend university if this is what they want to do when they are older.
It really does only matter for what you want to become for a profession. There is alot of people that are doing very good for not have university degree.
You can just learn a trade and be so good at it you do not need to attend the university. For me I do think it is a different way for people.

Is a college degree still valuable? My answer is yes, although not everyone with a degree can easily find a job today, as there are many avenues we can utilize to develop our skills and become successful individuals in this era of advanced technological development.
However, education remains important because it provides us with insight, ethics, and much more. If it were only for entrepreneurs, investors, marketers, or salespeople, perhaps a college degree wouldn't be as important. However, college is important for doctors, surgeons, dentists, accountants, ophthalmologists, engineers, scientists, and psychologists. So, this comes back to individual choice in viewing this issue. Many people even go to college but end up working in fields completely different from their chosen major. In other words, having a degree also opens up job opportunities.

Regardless of the job unavailability and the new technology era, getting a degree cannot be neglected. We don't just earn degrees because we want to be employed we also seek to build our confidence career path and discipline. No matter how AI replace or  relive people of their jobs there will always be opportunity for those willing to advance their careers. Those so called AI models still need humans to improve them, they still need humans to monitor their activities and outputs so education cannot be neglected. Valuable indeed on which not all those people who had switched into entrepreurship do ends up on becoming successful on which means that only a few had been able to achieve out those success and become millionaires. Its not bad on getting that inspire with those people but it would be better that you should be that getting a degree as much as possible or simply having that education. This isnt only talking about landing up a job but also this talks about that personal knowledge and awareness about on the things around you on which in comparing into those people who hadnt been able to finish up studies on which there's that significant differences in between knowledge or simply with intellect but somewhat we cant be able to make out some conclusions with that because there would be those people who do able to learn things at their own pace and eventually becomes successful and thats why its really hard to make up some conclusions in regarding someones capability and capacity. You shouldnt be thinking of on not to go to school and finish up college on which we might be able to see up the current condition when it comes to unemployment rate but it doesnt mean that you would be that trying out to make yourself that not be finishing one. Just like been said that this isnt that only talking about landing up a job but rather on the knowledge that you can get as an individual on which it would be something crucial or important when we are that living because every decisions that we do take then it would be needing up that proper approach and considerations and if you are someone who havent been able to touch up some education then your way of thinking would be that limited in compared into those people who had been that exposed or be able to learn through different aspect even if we do say that just that simply be able to learn up various things on which it could be helpful on hovering their lives with having those decisions based up or being influenced with those mentality. Not everything will be speaking about on how to land a job or becoming successful but with these factors on which it would be that surely giving out such impact as an individual. You might be able to see that it might be useless on this aspect for some but most of the time it will be recommended or something that you must give out that priority.

Go to our country and even people with university/bachelor's degree are having hard time in finding a job. But it's a must to have a degree here because of the companies owned by the oligarchs that have set the standard of employment. If you haven't finished your degree, you're likely to get jobs that are contractual and lesser benefits. And if you're a graduate, more opportunities are likely to come but looking at the job market, even the degree holders are finding it difficult because of a fewer position openings compared to the number of applicants and new graduates.

Well, we can’t deny that a lot of successful human being these days do not actually have their university degree. The most important thing is that they have skills that will serve as their source of income. However, as per my personal view, having a university degree isn’t just all about jobs and success, it’s something that we can take as a pride or gem that no one can steal from us. It’s more of an achievement for anyone who dream to have a good, quality education that will pave way for a brighter future ahead.

For me, that depends on how much you value education. If you think it’s okay for you without a college degree since you have some skills already that will make a living for you, that’s also your own belief and concept in life. In almost all developing countries this problem occurs. Where more students graduate and become undergraduates but after that they cannot find a job that matches the degree they received. The point is that every year there are always more people who successfully graduate from college than there are jobs available. And actually this has become a common problem nowadays.

So don't be surprised if currently there are many college graduates with high grades and many achievements but they don't work and earn money by relying on the diploma or degree they have. Most of them now prefer to create their own business and start earning from it. Because they know that life must go on and if they continue to only rely on their diplomas and make job applications to various companies but are still rejected then well they have to take another step. And nowadays, even to be accepted into a good company, sometimes you have to go through back channels. either by having a relationship in it or even by paying a certain amount of money. Practices like this are common today. What makes even an accomplished person unable to find a job is because they don't have relationships or money.

A degree isn't completely useless if your goal isn't just to be a low-level employee for life. Have you seen any company hiring CEOs, HR directors or assistant directors without requiring a degree?

But the CEO of big companies hire CEO's for their skills or just for the degree? A degree is an added advantage and we are already entered into the phase where tech giants like Google hire employees for their skills even if they are school dropouts.

Of course, companies still hire highly skilled employees without college degrees, I don't deny that. I mean people who are only skilled will forever be low level employees, no matter how skilled they are. Like I said, have you ever seen a CEO or department head who has no degree and only skills?
Meanwhile, those with degrees but no experience may struggle in the early days of their careers, but once they gain experience. They have more opportunities to take on senior positions in companies, something that people without degrees cannot do.

In the long run, people with degrees will always have an advantage because skills are not that difficult to acquire, it just takes time, but for people with only skills, getting a degree will be a challenge. That's why I say that degrees are not completely useless if you have vision.

I admit that I got my job not because of having a University degree but rather through effort, smart work, and starting from scratch. But what if someone got inspired by what I did and decides not to take up college soon, and starts to work right away?

My failure to pose what I have always dream about is not about University in general, if I have graduated from one particular countries that has high number of employment, I'm very sure I will be among people who will be having a well to do job like other people.

We need to look at it on a broader scale because there are significant differences depending on the country, particularly whether the specific degree is valued or not. There are some practical skills and experiences that a person can only experience if they have a degree. That couldn't be replaced with AI or anything. The human touch would still be there.

I think that right now, what's happening is that there are changes in the education path, where fast education is on the rise, such as boot camps and vocational training. It saves people time for that. I think it's leaning towards that direction in terms of the job market.

If degrees become the new norm, it means that the importance of degrees has increased, not decreased. Instead of a degree being considered something that was very valuable in the past, it will now become the basic norm. That means that people without degrees will not meet the standards and they will be the ones who have a hard time in life, not those with degrees. 

This also means that those with only skills are under threat. They may have jobs, but they are under threat and will be eliminated as more and more people with both degrees and skills appear. Therefore, degrees will be extremely important as they become the new norm.

Mate in some companies skilled workers earn more than degree holders, its depends on the assignment the company give to them to accomplish, it really not matter for CEO provided the task is been executed well. Skilled workers do more  of the jobs, they are the technical aspect of a company, they generate money for the company that they use to pay degree holders.

The reason Companies have to hire a degree holders and put them in the an administrative position is because they believed that degree holders has undergone a long time character and brain examinations in the college and they can manage and control their manners and approach client in a well behaved manners. That is the advantage degree holders has against a skilled workers that has not seen the four walls of the university. While the skilled workers do all the work to generate money for the company, the degree holders brainstorms on how to close deals with clients. Both are important in a contemporary company. To me no one is less or higher, they both accomplish   task to move the company forward.

Once it was said that "university degree is a key to every door when applying for a job", now university degree will only put you close to start in line to job interview. Even though it varies from profession to profession, degree is no longer a guarantee of knowledge or quality. University degree becomes an obligatory to parents or something you only need to be able to mention in CV. In this forum I also believe that not all who are here high faculty graduates, on the contrary if examined many elementary school or not school but they are successful here.

I remember the first time I introduced this forum by my friend, instead he was only elementary school, but he was more adept at me in the field of crypto, It took a long time to study with him about crypto and until like this, so there is no guarantee for success, those who are sure and try they are the success.

Meanwhile, graduates are stuck with debt and stress. Many young people feel lost, frustrated, and even angry, like society promised them something it can’t deliver. I agree with the first sentence you said dude, in this day and age it's not really a guarantee that having completed degree courses will mean we will be successful in life. All I can say is that good courses to get and finish are those related to food courses, IT, and Business management.

Though, I didn't graduate from college, of course as a father I want my child to graduate no matter what and that's another achievement as parents of course.

This is common in third world countries, especially in rural areas and mainly among older generations. Because at that time everything was very backward and poor and they worked tirelessly, and their efforts were well rewarded. But the world we live in is very different, a civilized world, high technology and fierce competition...I wonder how a young person can become rich if he is illiterate or has only primary education?

There are many successful people without a degree, but they are not the majority, just a few. We should not use that as an example or evidence to justify that education and degrees are unnecessary. Because the richest people, the people with high and stable incomes in the world...are mostly highly educated and have degrees.
