This crossed my mind as I was reading another bad news in our country about the bad effects of gambling. So I'm asking fellow gamblers here,

Have You Ever Felt Like Gambling Was Affecting Your Life Negatively? And if so how?

It's just a self-reflection on my end, again, I felt sad that there are young gamblers taking someone's life because of their addiction. And then they disposed of the body just like that, but they surrendered to the authorities after a couple of days that lead to the discovery of the body of the driver. As for my experience, probably the worst for me, is maxing out my credit cards or borrowing money that it takes me sometime to pay. So it's hard to understand what's going in the mind of this 3 persons when they unalive a hapless man and get his money and then gamble.

I have felt that gambling was affecting my life negativiely on many occasions and those were after series of losses. This should be normal for every gambler, what makes the difference is what action you take after feeling this way and how long such feelings last. If you put proper risk management in place, within a very short time, such feelings usually disappears because you would have gambled with what you can afford to lose.

I have never felt like gambling was affecting my life negatively in anyway.

I would say that I have been quite lucky in life to know earlier on about how small habits which we often ignore can lead to addictions that linger for a long time and can ruin a person's life. And I have also been quite lucky to about gambling even before I started gambling. It has helped me to become very cautious about it.

I know people whose lives have been negatively affected by gambling. I have also read stories of people who killed themselves because they lost their lives savings to gambling and didn't know what else to do. They are always a reminder to me that there is a thin line between responsible gambling and gambling addiction.

I can't say that I have ever felt like gambling was negatively effecting my life.  I've had a few times where I thought it was adding a lot of fun to my life.  Like enjoying New Year's Eve in Las Vegas, or a good night out at the casinos in Lake Tahoe.  If I did feel like gambling was negatively effecting my life, I would stop doing it.  That seems like a simple enough fix, yet so many people use addiction like a crutch to keep themselves from just stepping away.

This isn't the only murder committed because of gambling addiction. I remember there was even like a massacre at Resorts World in my country which killed dozens of people because of a problematic gambler.

Gambling should be strictly regulated. If it doesn't curb addiction and the crimes proceeding from it, it should then be banned, and violators be severely penalized.

I'm a gambler myself, but I'm also a witness to how the lives of some people in my immediate neighborhood are destroyed because of gambling.

The most negative I have gone through gambling is that it made me restless — I would seek dopamine rush of gambling at cost of not completing other tasks.

If I did feel like gambling was negatively effecting my life, I would stop doing it.  That seems like a simple enough fix, yet so many people use addiction like a crutch to keep themselves from just stepping away.

In the beginning when I started gambling, I spent so much time and money on gambling and it started affecting me negatively, because I thought that I could win a fortune from gambling. When I saw that it is affecting my work, I had to stop gambling entirely in order for me not to get sacked.

There was a time that I find it difficult to stay away from gambling but I had no choice than to give up on gambling in order for me to move forward in life. This has really helped me a lot, because I have changed  that mindset of gambling for profits after this experience and only gamble for fun during my leisure time.

What I know is that gambling is affecting some people's lives negatively and this is because the people are greedy and not able to know what gambling is.

They will think they can make some strategies to win and they will lose. After losing, they will think of a better-to-them strategy and they will lose again until it becomes an addiction. People that think of the consequences along are better avoding the negative side of gambling.

Gambling supposed to be for fun and not a means of making money but some people will think that they are different and special and that they can make money from gambling but losing continuously instead.

Of course I've felt this way especially when I'm not in a good mental state and after I make a mistake where I don't control myself well which drains my balance I always feel this way.
But in the end this was also unable to make me make it a thing that made me stop even though there was an impact but when I think further it is a fairness and I consider it a risk.

Indeed, this seems naive and even quite denial but I think for those gamblers must feel when they know that this is a mistake but still cannot stop from it then in the end we only minimize so that losses are not too large and make past mistakes an experience that we should not repeat again considering that to stop completely from gambling when we are often in the scope of gambling in the end this is clearly difficult to happen.

Gambling affected me negatively in my early days, I would feel very sad when I lose and I will try to chase loses, praying that I will recover and win but most times it doesn't happen like that and I will feel very sad throughout that day. I later learnt how to gamble responsibly and since then I don't feel very sad when I lose because I started to use very small amounts. This forum has been very helpful to me, visiting this board everyday and interacting with fellow gamblers helps me to stay focused, fellow gamblers experiences and information are very key to learning new things about gambling.

If there was a time that it started affecting me negatively, I knew better to stop whatever I was doing wrong. So I guess it did not come to a point where my life was genuinely getting changed. It might not be possible for our gambling journeys to be perfect but once you see things that should not continue you should know to cut it short.

I did, long time ago when I was excessively gambling. It was fun but I wanted more fun, as the numbers grow, my fun was growing as well. Of course it didn’t last very long. Fun stuff never do. I had to quit at some point because I noticed I was about to lose everything I got. Luckily for me I had that enlightenment. Most people never do and they keep pushing their luck. Gambling excessively was making me stressed and anxious. It wasn’t a healthy mood. Nowadays I don’t play that much but I still have fun. I don’t get obsessed over my losses anymore. I might even say, I am having more fun than I was before.

I know for sure that some have been reckless in their gambling and yet don't have an idea on how addictive they had been and irresponsible with gambling until they got someone to observe and inform them about their gambling habits.

Also, when it comes to this situation in particular, whereby the gambler already observed that by himself, then things would have gone wrong largely to the extent the gambler was able to detect his gambling habits and how it influences his life in a negative manner, this has never happened to me and I wonder how those involved managed to escape such situations.

No I have not and this scared me because I know how many people are trapped in the mess, I don't want the same to ever happen to me so I am very careful around gambling and its also the reason why I don't chase money when gambling, I accept things the way they are and risk only what I can afford to lose.

Small money makes you responsible as a gambler but many don't like hearing this fact, it's like you telling them to never earn big from gambling but I don't always mind asking them what work they do for casinos to have the gut to believe that they must make money off them.

Luckily I have not experienced too much negative effect of my gambling habit. Perhaps there were some times when I lose important times (for family and work) because I prefer to spend my time to gamble than to spend it for my family during weekends. In case on financial effect, luckily gambling did not affect me negatively because I know how to limit myself when it comes to gambling budget.

I have not felt like that before Because before I started gambling I have heard things those that are addicted are going through and I have discovered that they went into gambling because they wanted to win huge amount of money that will make them become rich, so when I started gambling i only wanted to see how good I am in knowing football and it was fun to me and I continued gambling.
I know so many people has felt like gambling is affecting them negatively and when you feel like this it means you are already addicted to gambling.
So many people have done a lot of bad things because of gambling addiction, some set of people have done things that has affected there life because of gambling, when I was in the university one of my course mate was so addicted to gambling that he used his school fees to gamble and that was how he dropped out from the university, there are a lot of stories of how gambling has affected the life of people negatively.
My advice to anyone who feels gambling is affecting his life negatively is that you should stop gambling for money purpose, do it for fun only.

Is it that they took someone's life just because they needed to steal money from the person to use it for gambling and the person resisted or that there addiction pushed them to commit murder just for no just cause? if the former was the case, then this can be said to be an extreme form of gambling addiction where they victim have gotten their mind all messed up that they can not think really straight again. it is not a state anyone should allow himself get to because when the authority eventually get hold of you, you wont go free with the excuse that you are just an addicted person.

Th only possible way that gambling can easily affect me negatively will be that it is eating into my time too much and that i am spending too much on it. apart from that, i wouldn't for no reason allow it get into my head to the extent of stealing from people just to satisfy my gambling urge.
