It's a form of entertainment like any other; you gamble even with a few cents, just to win something and achieve a goal. i know people who play poker even without money, just with chips to pass the time and participate in a tournament.
After all, you don't put real money into tournaments! You pay the entry fee, because a tournament needs to be managed and maybe a final prize, and then you use fake chips, not real money.

People who play poker and don't want to spend any money from their pocket can participate in freeroll tournaments where if they win, they can get actual chips or money that they can use to join cash tables or participate in tournaments that require entry fees.

A lot of people actually build a poker bankroll through freerolls, and they use different platforms only for this purpose because different platforms would have different freerolls, some with high rewards and some with low ones, but at the end of the day, you are only using your skills and nothing else.

It is true. We must keep responsible gambling by being disciplined and stick with our limits. We must have the limit in funds and time. Sure, this is the way to minimize the chance for addiction. If we set the limit of funds, it must be the money that we afford to lose. We will be safe as long as we never breaks the limit. I know it's sometimes not easy to stick with the limit, we may try to break it. But if we always remember the bad impacts of being undisciplined, I am sure we won't break it. So, we must always remember ourselves about the bad impacts, including the addiction problem.

Does anyone in this thread has ever dealt with a family member becoming addicted to gambling? Since I see so many people claiming never gotten gambling addiction themselves, it has made me wondered who many of them have family who is actually addicted.

In my case, I have dealt with one brother getting addicted to dices back in 2016-2017, during the most critical phase of the economical crisis in this country (due to inflation), he would spend hours and hours playing dices and also chasing some losses, until one day he lost a total of 50€ (which was an important amount of money back them).

Fortunately, he managed to get out his addiction and quit gambling for the sake of money, he had never fallen for gambling addiction again, though, sometimes I suspect he could if he is not cateful enough.

I used to be addicted to gambling, and I myself have dealt with family members who are addicted to gambling. This happened because online gambling was very popular in my neighborhood. I gambled secretly because that was my comfort zone, but I was shocked when I found out that another member of my family was also gambling and was in a worse situation than me, even with his partner. their gambling addiction was shocking to me.
But to this day, they haven't stopped their addiction, and what concerns me is the fate of their family relationships and their children. I'm afraid that gambling will destroy their family relationships.

Yeah I have got a family member that is addicted to gambling, and an immediate family though, but he is addicted, and he still battling with killing the addiction up till now, he has been given several advice and all, but it seems like all of that isn’t making him change his way..
but now he has been able to realize that he is addicted and it is a problem, which is the first step.. So currently he is battling to fight the addiction..

coming out of gambling addiction is easy and not what will require those who where once an addict to come and explain how they escape from it to you. if you look at the gambling section, there has been several thread created on how to reduce or stop gambling entirely and there has been people who also learnt from it and testimonies where confirmed. i believe that whosoever that wants to stop addiction will do so in good faith without  advice. stopping gambling is just having the ability to say no when you are supposed to do so.

What's your best advice to gamblers fighting with addiction?

We can not generally asertain that coming out of gambling is easy honestly it is as easy as you make it sounds because it doesn't just happen it must pass through stages though to some people it may take much longer time compared to others but saying that coming out of gambling addiction is easy to me is completely out of place, most of the times when an addict comes out of addiction so easily you may see them coming back with a stronger force than usual, I understood your points about determination and discipline to play a good role in coming out of addiction but that doesn't really seem to be easy as it sounds.

That's right, there are freeroll tournaments like you say and also those where you pay a fee.
Using real money, let's say, isn't exactly a good idea, or rather, let me explain better, it's for those who have an addiction, because you can still play poker without spending anything or spending very little.

I haven't personally experienced addiction in this crypto gambling industry, but I did experience a strong sense of greed back when
I was just starting in the crypto gambling business.

It happened to me several times, but even so, I was able to catch myself. I managed to control my impulses as a gambler and established
a discipline that I still use to this day.

You are right, stopping in time can be the best therapy one needs to quit the addiction without needing any external help, but as most of us know, addiction to anything including gambling is of different levels, and those who gamble past the level or stage where they can easily stop on their own are the ones who end up as chronic gambling addicts that can no longer stop on their own except external help come through for them.

Have a budget for the amount that you can afford to lose, and if you spend all of it, quit immediately, there's no need to continue gambling. Understanding this really helps one avoid becoming a victim of gambling addiction.

What I can add to this is that you need some discipline to be able to keep playing, at that moment when adrenaline and emotions are at 1000% and supposed good feelings appear, well, you have to know how to control that, and only with discipline is it possible.

I remember myself and how addicted I was to gambling, but I’m glad, at least because I didn’t play too hard and understood that taking out a loan or borrowing money to play is a line that I would never cross no matter what happened. And looking back, I am grateful to myself for such responsibility, but now I understand that sometimes I can even take a break of several weeks without gambling, because my interest is not as wild as it was in my youth, which also makes me happy, but I will not completely give it up yet.

You are right, the importance of watching and controlling our gambling urge can not be over emphasized, some people fell into addiction because they ignored the little addiction symptoms that started developing when they were aware of it. Like myself, I probably would have been embedded in addiction if I had not take a strong decision not to get addicted in gambling.
