Yes, I am going to report it but let this thread serve as an explanation.

So, a guy on the Bitcoin Discussion section creates this thread:

This guy told us to buy bitcoin when it was just $1 ( watch the video)

Whose statement is false, which leads me to believe that even he has not seen the video. I explain why it is false in my comment:

Based on the number of videos he makes on YouTube, I'm a bit surprised that someone who bought Bitcoin at $1 and still holding <...

Let's see if you can get it straight, starting with the OP. This thread has had 10 comments and no one has stopped to analyse the basics.

The video was posted on May 9, 2013, when the bitcoin price was at around $110. So take a couple of zeros off all the calculations you are making. If someone had bought $1 of bitcoin back then (which is what he was recommending to people, to buy $1 worth of bitcoin, not when bitcoin was at $1), which would be 0.01 bitcoin, they would have just over $1000 today.

Unsurprisingly, after my comment on first page, there are still people responding to the false statement that this guy told us to buy bitcoin at $1.

Not only that, but not even the OP has responded to my comment or edited the title, just like the others I quoted. Maybe I'm crazy but if I made a mistake like that I would acknowledge it in a later comment and edit the title to “This guy told us to buy $1 worth of bitcoin when it was worth $110”.

I gave up on people reading the comments on the front page a long time ago but if this forum is to have a minimum of quality you can't let that thread turn into a spam megathread where on page 50 there are still people replying directly to the OP like 'oh it would be so cool to have bought bitcoin when it was worth $1 like this guy said.

I'm going to use this thread as a reference for my report.

Why not just sent him a personal message instead if he did not edit the topic title? Maybe he is busy and did not read who quoted him yet,  but he will take personal message more seriously.

But as he is the OP of a topic, he supposed to be reading everyone that is posting there, especially those that are quoting him. But I noticed you did not included his name in the quote.

Do not advice moderator to lock the thread but the OP of the thread can edit the topic title of the thread. This kind of thread may not be locked because it is where people spam are taking for granted because it is about bitcoin success story.

Are you still surprised that the vast majority of members of this forum don't read anything except the title and possibly the first post in the thread? I would put that topic in the low value topic category, and I have no doubt that most mods would evaluate such a report as good and lock the topic or move it to Off-topic.

Unfortunately, if the topic has a slightly larger number of posts, it will not be deleted. I would do the exact opposite, because those who don't read and write nonsense deserve nothing more than to have their topic and posts deleted.

Well, you're correct the guy's post isn't fully accurate but it's true that in 2013 Davinchi who's now famous influencers told people to buy $1 worth of Bitcoin, now if someone might have followed his advice then that person should definitely have invested at least $10 or even $100 in Bitcoin in hope to get good returns but that's a possibility not part of someone's real life.

The person who posted the thread should definitely edit content of his thread because he/she has posted wrong information and unfortunately most people don't even read it properly and write their own posts about it. Well, some of the content is correct but overall there are some major mistakes in the thread. OP of that thread should definitely do his/her research well before positing any threads.

unfortunately, not everyone have rational thinking or see things from different perspectives, so they rush to conclusion isn't new. however the thread has a misconceptions from the op but already diluted by others.

You did well to figure out the right thing in the topic, looking at the thread it's not a well organised thread just something the op must have seen somewhere and rushed down to the forum to create a thread. the thread is basically one of the many threads that calls for regrets and that's exactly what must of the contributots are focusing on instead of looking at the video and other important things around it to verify how much truth it is.

It's a matter of miscalculation but it seems wild! hence not sure how well mods will consider this a reason to lock the thread, I used to read things like mod or admin editing a post I don't know if that is still a thing, if op can't make corrections and the thread is relevant in the eyes of mods maybe that could be a solution.

There are topics that has large number of posts that can be deleted but this topic is different. This forum admin and moderators will see the topic useful than the signature that we are wearing because the topic is about someone that advised people to invest in bitcoin and it pays out. Maybe I'm just crazy but I would expect that on the most reputable bitcoin forum and the one where at least years ago there was a lot of quality talk, the OP should read the comments on the first page of the thread he wrote and act accordingly, especially when he is paid to write.

You are not right about this at all. The push-ups is still also valid than the signature campaign and avatar that we are wearing to bitcoin enthusiasts and also to this forum because this is a bitcoin forum. The push-ups can become a trend and which makes it worth it.

If he reports that thread, moderators may leave it unhandled because there is nothing that would be done about that thread. Am still surprised to this time there is nothing acted on the topic, it was not locked, maybe i suggest that there should be a more number of reports to the moderator in charge to lock the topic, they may have their own reason to have not deleted it or moved to off topic section.

I don't also know why some people can come up with lies in such manner, maybe trying to generate clicks on his youtube video or something related, many have innocently replied the thread without having a deep thought on how genuine it could be, but i still trust the moderators if they have indeed been informed but acted nothing upon it, which means it does not have the exact criterial for being deleted, locked or sent to off topic.
