Using Real Personal Emails vs. Invalid Emails: Should I Switch?

Should I also change to invalid one? For safety reason.

You have to link a valid email address to your forum account mate. But it's not necessary when registering, you can just make up something and add @gmail.com and later on decide to change it to a valid one. The reason be that if you loss access to your account, you will need the email linked to your account to help you recover it and change to a new password.

If you do use a personal email address and don't want it to be public, you can turn it off on your forum account settings.  Its there on your profile..

It’s a matter of choice. If you are using your personal email, it will enable you to receive notifications for DM and other notifications you set up to get through email, and even in situations where you need to reset your password.

If you also make use of an invalid email, just know that you cannot receive any mail from the forum, and if anything concerns resetting your password, you won’t be able to do it.

The reason why the forum admin changes some emails that are not valid into bounce.invalid ones is for security reasons, so that no one will go and create an email that’s the same as yours and use it to reset your password.

You think your email can be compromised? You can also protect the email that you used. But, most importantly, you can use 2FA on this forum which can make  only email recovery not possible.

By safety do you mean like forgetting passoword or your account being hacked or compromised, something like that?

If that's the case you should stake your BTC address first. This increases the chances of recovering your account. Afaik, It is the only valid way to prove ownership of your account. Then again you can use the 2FA option for additional security.

Just make sure that you have full access to your address, that nobody else knows your seed phrase.

Regarding email, I prefer personal one, not the invalid one.

I think you should have a personal email for the forum even though it may in my estimation not be necessary unless you want to sign up on a casino.
There is an option to keep your email hidden and I totally recommend selecting that option if you choose to use your email.

If you use an invalid email you stand a chance of losing your bitcointalk account this you may not rmbe able to retrieve your password via your email and at the same time, you may not be able to get any emails notifications.

One person can have more than one email, each for different purpose.

My Bitcointalk has its personal email, a valid email that is used for any forum related activity.

Bitcointalk isn't doing anything harmful to your email, moreover everybody has their email set to private, only yourself can see it.

Using a valid email is inevitable as long as you're registering for the first time on Bitcointalk.

If you don't like the idea of using an email then you can use an email you don't think you will be using for anything, it's not compulsory to use your personal emails but however if you want to be getting informations on the forum, they are sent to your email.

If you decide to use an email which you don't have access to and one day it becomes invalid, Theymos uses his protection method for your account safety he will use a bounce email for you untill you provide a valid one.

Additionally, if you think of having a good rank and offer some service that requires reputation on the forum then using a secured email is important because, through impersonation of your account or changing of ownership (stolen) it might be a threat to others because scammers can use that against others.

You can use any email and successfully register your bitcointalk account, there is no verification link will be sent to the email to activate your account like we see on most social media account registration or other. But it's better to use an email that you have access, that can be used to recover your account if you forgot your password and also it can be used to lock your account if someone accessed your account and changed the email/password.

No need for that, you can hide your email from others.

Email is not an aspect to security if you stake your bitcoin address. I also think anyone that is able to protect his seed phrase should be able to protect his password. If he can backup his password somewhere in like 2 or 3 places and also have it in memory, I think he can not lost his account.

You don't necessarily needs to use same email here to sign up for casinos, in fact I will advise others not to in order to avoid having higher risks for data breach.

You can choose an actual email for your account registration or a non existing email too.

Actual emails can be non privacy emails like Google's Gmail or privacy emails like Proton's emails.
If you want to register an account with a non existing email or change your account email to non existing one, there is a warning and also guide from thermos.

For me, I have been using my original personal mail for the forum. Even during the registration I have used this mail as well. Because I care about my account, in case of a hack or locked account, I must have access to the registered mail. So I decided to use my personal and original email. Though I had changed my email later, it was an issue to receive notification when someone PMs. So again I changed my mail with the original email that was registered with. Just hide the email from the public.

You can change, as I said above you may missed notifications when someone PM you. For safety reason hiding your email would be an option as well.

This is a personal choice. You can decide to use your personal email address or generate a separate email for this forum. And what do you mean by temporary email? Of course, email attach to your forum account is temporary and not permanent because you can change it if you want to.

No! Changing to invalid email address is not ideal. If you're too concerned about your security and don't want to use your personal email, you can create a random email and attach it. What matters here is you having access to the email you attached to your account.

Having invalid email address attach to your account already move you out of safety zone.

There are times that I will have message but I will not notice it when I visit the forum. I went to 'Personal Message Options' an check Show a popup when you receive new messages. So anytime someone send me a message, it will automatically fill my screen in a way thst I can click on a button to check the message or a button to decline it. It is really helpful.

If there are other evidences like PGP key or Bitcoin address staked somewhere in the forum, account can be recovered. Email is not the only tool for account recovery but I agree with you that if forum members don't stake PGP key or Bitcoin address, if they don't have an actual email address, they can not recover their account.

Using an invalid address contains another risk - risk of account hack.

Use an email alias instead, like Simple Login or one of Apple's private addresses.

If it is not only about account recovery, use an email like theymos guided (I quoted it above).

Simply create a new email specifically for the forum. This will give you the safety you want. Some people use their work email as the forum email, which is not totally bad if they can handle it well.

You may reconsider your decision. I have known some people who left the forum and it was in doubt if they just left or something bad happened to them. It was through forum pm they were contacted.
