Marseille already lost a given game. Rennes were hit with an early red card and still managed to accumulate 1.39 expected goals with 10 players. Not only that — they had more shots on target than Marseille and created much better chances.

Marseille, only manage to treat Rennes when Rabiot hit the post. From this first game, Marseille’s defense looked terrible — uncoordinated, weak in duels, and slow. Not something you want to see on Day 1.

PSG lose about 2 to 4 games per season, so yes if you want to ride out those draws and loss you need handicaps.

I think my theory has a good chance of being profitable.

Very nice, maybe someone should try a martingale effort on PSG with -1.5 handicap. That should be something fantastic to watch, especially if there's a big starting bankroll.

I would only watch out for Hakimi, with the allegations against him it could become a situation where they have to stop playing him. I feel like he is the one big unseen contributor to all their good games.

Watched that game. PSG came out without their best players, bar Vitinha. They played mediocre and then after 60th minute entered Hakimi, Mendes, Dembele and Due. Immediately they started playing much better and getting chances in every other attack. Scored 1 goal, but one more was disallowed to small ofside and there were a couple more good chances.

I hope Enrique does not start to overthink basic things about his line up. I was very surprised about his decision yo take out Donarrumma from the squad and I certainly will not have expected him to tinker with his squad in the first game of the season.

I got to watch some of the highlights from this week's matches to help with next week's picks. Not comfortable being at the bottom of the table.

Yes, I would understand such picks for Serie A (and not every season), but for Ligue 1 it seemed like a big insight to see such an opportunity and take advantage of it.
In any case, there is a long season ahead and everyone will have a chance (at least for a yellow cap). I hope the games will be more entertaining than 0-0 or 1-0. Ligue 1 has really not made any progress in recent years.

SerieA still have that kind of results but also this last season is not longer the "catenaccio" we use to know. But yes, here and in any other league having 7 1-0 results is a lot, and more when is the first round when some teams are still not super smooth on defense.

I feel ligue Ligue1 despite having PSG in the top of europe is still far behind as a league. Monaco is not longer what they use to be and Lyon the same.

Maybe he wants to shake the team up a little bit. They weren’t that good against Tottenham — they only started to play well when Tottenham stupidly let up around the 60th minute, and they managed to take advantage of it.

I really don't see why Enrique wants to let Donnarumma go. He was solely responsible for them getting past Arsenal last year and was a standout player throughout the Champions League. Lucas Chevalier has some big shoes to fill if he's going to replace Donnarumma, and he hasn’t started well.

It made sense... I know this league is less aggressive and statistically the home team wins 50% of the matches (depending on the league), and about 15% of the time the final score is 1:0.

Hahaha, well now after you mention it im intrigued to see how much of percentage in other leagues end in the 1-0 result.
15% seems quite high, i feel more like in other leagues that number is gonna be much closer to 5 or 10%.

But also taking into account the 15% in this specific round we have a 70% of 1-0 so we destroy all the statistics, and standar deviation.

About yesterday, PSG again falling very short, another short result in this league i went with a 2-0 to not being super ambicious, but ended up i was.

Today Marseille broke the cast and gave us a 5-2 so nobody can get it correct or better to say "exact".

We always know this league is one of the less undesirable compared with the other top 4 leagues we have from the other big powerhouse of european football, but one thing it always catch my atention is how many great players comes from France and from this league, is incredible how is not related the level of the national team and the league with the level of the french players across the world.

Crazy how 3 exact results can't outperform an average of 1-1.5 points (well; 9-10 in green is very good) at least this round helped me to move up from last place...in fact, I gained the most positions.

Yes. Roughly speaking, we usually guess a close score - this is 1.5 points or just the result, this is 1 point. Those lucky ones who guessed the exact score get three times more than those who simply guessed the result and 2 times more than those who guessed a close score. This is probably justified since it is difficult to guess the exact score, but it introduces a huge randomness in the distribution of places. I remember how in the season before last I had as many correct picks in the Serie A pool as the leader, but I was at the very bottom since there were few exact scores.

PSG scores 3 croissant and Toulouse made a Croque Madame.

The best dish is in the game between Lyon and Marseille.

Lyon starts with a powerfull "Coq au vin" but Mareille discounts with Crepes making the game more sweet.

We got some really surprisingly scorelines from the games today, a sharp contrast from the low scoring theme of last week. I expected Lille to win but did not expect the margin to be that high and it's been a goal fest at Stadium de Toulouse with 9 goals scored in total. PSG will not like to have conceded 3 goals as they had the game in control for most parts.

I have finally gotten off the canvas, good week so far. No one took a risk with a high score line for any of those games.
