Seems like the Nigerian super eagles games against Uganda make the other two games played yesterday in the shadows. Well Senegal blast Benin 3-0, a painful loss for Benin and also DR Congo also win Botswana with 3-0. Senegal and DR Congo have also qualify for the round of 16 from their group with 7 points each.

Two of the  AFCON games played yesterday had 3-0 wins and the super eagles won with 3-1 but Tunisia draw against Tanzania but they still qualify for the round of 16.  Sudan will play against Burkina Faso, Gabon against Ivory Coast and Mozambique against Cameroon today, this is their last group games.

What a brace for Onyedika, MOTM for Nigeria against Uganda.
This is his first time starting for Nigeria in the AFCON. A boy who started playing football in the streets is now fulfilling his dreams by representing his country in the AFCON competition.
I would like to see this brother more in the pitch. He is a good player. Now Erich Cheille has multiple options for players.

He has a similar story to Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface and other Nigerian players. They come from humble backgrounds, from street football to playing in the world’s center stage. That’s why they are very passionate about the sport and are absolute beasts when they are on the pitch. I see Onyedika doing great things in his career….so happy for him.

I wasn't expecting the game to turn out the way it did because Nigeria have been very unserious for some time and that is why the game was the heat of attraction every other game was overshadowed by the game of Nigeria and Uganda, and yesterday's game there was a lot of goals scored senegal won their game against Benin, but if we should talk about the one that was interesting i would said nigeria Uganda was entertaining and it was the most focused match yesterday on it was good that they were able to win against uganda and this was what we all wanted but you cannot predict the most times that is why everything was looking skeptical.

And it seemed like a plant game because the majority of yesterday's game was called nothing less than three goals, which makes it look like a plan worked, but it wasn't; it was just the direction all the games are going. Sudan will play Burkina Faso, which is actually going to be difficult to predict because I feel so down and have a good chance of winning against Burkina Faso, but football is very dynamic and it can change, so we'll have to wait and see who wins in the end.

I came to discover today that, Nigeria has a big problem in the goalkeeper and the defense and that gave Tunisia and Uganda to scored them. And if that is fixed quickly, It will be hard for them to scale through the round of 16. Nigerian Goalkeeper (Francis Ozoho) is not a good goalkeeper and they have to replace him with Nwabali. Eric Chelle should do something about the defense and the goalkeeper before it too late. The front players now are trying there possible best to see that Nigeria do well but the backwards is not encouraging.

I honestly didn't expect Tunisia to be this weak to the extent of drawing this tanzania national team, I was expecting at least an outright winning from them as the super eagles did a few days back, but I was totally disappointed that a team of their calibre will be drawing a low level team like that, which will undeniable spoil the games of most gamblers that gambles on them to win.
As for the ivory coast vs gabon game and Cameroon vs Mozambique, it's very clear that ivory coast and Cameroon are the clear favourite in both games, but they have to show on the pitch that they are superior to these lower levels teams, or they might be given a shocker of their lives.

It’s not only the goalkeeping department, the Nigerian team entirely isn’t playing well, the Nigerian Super Eagles are not yet convincing to me, it’s not because they have won three games, but the difference is that they’re not keeping any clean sheets, that is to tell us that they’re defensive and goalkeeping department are lacking something which could actually be a mess up for me when it comes to the knockout stages, I don’t really know the team they will be facing in the knockout stages.

I will only be convinced when I see that they can beat the big countries in the AFCON finals, countries like Egypt, Senegal, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, DR Congo, this are the stronger countries so let’s see what happens when they face any of this country’s.

Nigeria never win a game or a match with their tactics and skills but luck. Nigeria allowing Uganda to scored yesterday made me to believe that they are not well arrange in the AFCON. Don't call Morocco yet. Dr Congo and Senegal can make the unthinkable. I am not wishing Nigeria to loss but their performance is not encouraging. If Nigeria Super Eagles didn't score in the first half, it would be difficult for them to score in the second half. The defense and the goalkeeper is a disaster in the team set up.

Do you know that you sound ridiculous with such statements?
Why would you even be saying this when it's obvious that our super eagles is one of the best team in the tournament so far, because it's only our super eagles that has gotten a total of 9/9 point, in the competition, so what are you even saying?

If you think that it's because of luck, why it is only our super eagles lucky in the tournament?
I can't deny that our goalkeeper and defense has been making blunders, especially during the Closing stages of our game, but that shouldn't be a criteria to be saying that they are only winning because of luck, don't you know that you sounds funny?

I Don't really fancy this AFCON of a thing because Nigeria can be so disappointing that is the more reason I don't always have time for it but so far so good it seems they are still in good form and they are still doing well judging from the previous games I watched them play I think the Nigeria team is actually more formidable this season and they should just seize their moment on this to win the trophy after they got humiliated in the last AFCON finals, they should just make use of this good form they are to win the trophy at least if not for anything but for the sake of players like Victor Osimhen and Lookman etc.

Not much for me at stake for this week's matches, now that NY is up, back to Prem League teams and how well/badly they'll do without AFCON stars.

He has a similar story to Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface and other Nigerian players. They come from humble backgrounds, from street football to playing in the world’s center stage. Which says a lot for the sporting mentality in general where we come from. Gold medallists in our recent Southeast Asian games in my country only earned about $500. And that leaves the rest who can't excel at the very top so little. And once you leave your peak, you're in your 30s, with a broken body and no other career. Tough life.

This is what I'm waiting to see, too. They have not met any top team, but they have improved under the new coach. I doubt they can win teams like Senegal, Egypt and Ivory Coast, but let's wait and see.
They have not played beautifully in any of the three matches. The teams they won are teams that they should have won, so no big surprises there. Tunisia was the only team that I felt might be a bit difficult, but considering the form Tunisia is in, Nigeria were supposed to win.

Aside from the fact that they don't play convincingly, I agree that the defence and goalkeeper are a problem for them. Especially the goalkeeper. The defence will be more confident and coordinated if they have a good goalkeeper. Now, they have to dominate every Knockout game they play so that the opponents will not have too much chances against them.

Either win, draw or lose yesterday, Nigeria will still qualify for the round of sixteenth but despite that automatic qualification I still have confidence they'll win Uganda even with reserve players. What's troubling now is how we are not able to keep a cleansheet in every match we've played. All three games we played in our group, we conceded at least one goal and that's should be a great thing of concern for us. We are very lucky to players who can score goals but we need to have a strong defence that can protect our goal. We initially assumed Nwabali was the problem but yesterday proved otherwise. Perhaps, defenders were the problem.

Come on Man give the super eagles their credit when due, I know the eagles can be punished in the ass some times but this time around I think they are really doing well, saying they have won all their games in this current tournament with luck doesn't make any sense honestly speaking, because the super eagles are the only team that has maintained a perfect start to the tournament. Even if they are conceeding goals it doesn't matter, it only shows their defensive weakness which I believe can be worked upon. They are conceeding but their attack is making sure they score enough goals to keep the team on the winning side. Only Algeria is on course to get 9 points after the super eagles if they win their remaining match today.

Tunisia team was looking strong and perfect before start of this match, but they failed to go through due to strong defensive strategy from the Tanzania, they were exceptional in their defense and with that they stun Tunisia in this important game.

Tanzania played very good soccer in this game, while their attack was a problem, but they were doing good work in defense, now with this level of performance, they have good chance of going into next round but these today's matches are going to be more interesting as which will be able to go through. Algeria could be second team which have good chance of going into next round without losing any point while Cameroon is also having good opportunity, but their performance is not as expected.

But the super eagles should try to keep a clean sheet, Nigeria were three goals clear and Uganda got a red card but still were able to score a goal against Nigeria.
Algeria has won two and and are currently winning their last game and hasn’t conceded a goal, Egypt has conceded one goal, Morocco, 2.
Nigeria need to stop conceding now that they will be meeting the big African teams

Since in the beginning of this African Cup of Nations Nigerian team has been doing well in their group and refreshing our minds about Nigeria vs Uganda it was an interesting match to watch as Nigeria dominate in the match by winning 3:1, and if Nigeria should continue with this current form the team will actually reach final leg and if they want to have such results don, there are allot of work to be done because there so many nation teams that is work very hard in this tournament, and i believe that so many teams has qualified to the next stage of tournament and yet will still play today to determine their qualifications to the next stage.

Populuv, it has being long the super Eagles have played like this,I have waited for so long to witness the super Eagles in this Form.I remember the days of Jay Jay okocha,the super Eagles were in top form, that you have 100% confident in them that they will win every matches they play. This is exactly the same top form as in the days of okocha and I'm confident in the super eagles that they would beat every other team in this tournament. I don't care how trained other national teams are, the Super eagles are well trained for this tournament ,they came prepared and they wouldn't disappoint us.  

Let’s not get ahead of our selves Oo, let’s be calm and watch the tournament unfold, Uganda isn’t really a big team but nevertheless the boys performed well throughout the group stages. I’m not yet so pumped cos the last time we played like this we left the first game of the knockout stages.
The boys have to be more clinical and defensive in the next stages. The defense has been a problem for us throughout this tournament, The boys are relaxing too much, especially when we are leading (this one has been a generational problem for the Super Eagles).

Equatorial Guinea 1 vs Algeria 3
Algeria handled the first half splendidly, retaining the posession as they held the 3 goals scored in the first half down to 90 minutes.
At the same time, Sudan vs Burkina Faso ended with a 2 to nil victory for Sudan.
I love to watch the AFCON, good game from all teams BTW.

With the current level of performance and quality Algeria is one of the best team in this event, just 33 minutes with 11 shots and 3 goals they are having 3 out of 3 wins. 7 goals scored and conceded 1 what a performance for them in knockout match, they are going to face Congo.

In other game of tonight, Barkin Faso beating Sudan by 2-0, good action from both games, but Algeria is surely going btter things and going to be having good chance of staying in hunt for good end of this event. After this Gabon going to host Ivory Coast and Mozambique going to face Cameroon for end of group stages matches.

I’m convinced you didn’t watch the game or even know much about football. Nigeria is much better than they were in the World Cup. Their performance in the last two games is very reassuring, it’s not a perfect team yet but we now know where we are lacking and hopefully the manager can improve those areas.
