There was no fear from the Egyptians teams but however what most African countries does in there match is that whenever they start making a lead on there match they start losing the focus on the match and began to under performing so actually it was what Egypt did on the match, there was several countries in Africa that got this kind of chances with ignorance and non of them are still presently on the world cup. Fear is when the influence of the opponents is making the players to loss confident of themselves in terms of not being able to control and possess confidently but Egypt was as confident as Argentina.

What I do not understand till this moment is the reason for Egypt leading 2:0 and at some point bowing in the second half, so Egypt didn not learn from all that has been happening to other African nations, what heck is wrong with African nations in this world cup tournament, what is their problem with second half because I do not get this shit again, I do not want to say that any team was favored in that match, it is left for everyone to judge, everything is wrong with the FIFA world cup tournament of 2026 but to be sincere I was not impressed with the performance of Egypt national team in the second half, the would have lost earlier instead giving people hope and failing them at the end.

We would be so wrong to not blame this on poor game management and believe that teams from the African continent are under some voodoo spell because, wtf!
How do you go from 2 goals lead to loosing by 3:2 under 10 minutes in the World Cup. Only African teams are committing such an outright blunder.
Only Morocco have carried themselves a lot more differently and we tend to blame FIFA for all these misgivings! In a way FIFA do undermine the game but, this is just bad.

I don't think Egypt would have fumbled this bad to any other team with that huge advantage that is not Argentina, especially Messi, Messi was the difference maker and unlike Cape Verde, they could not isolate him and allowed him to pick and unlock the game. Deep down I know they felt like they have already won it and that killed there attack.

Another thing was them falling all back to defend there lead and funny enough they weren't that good at it, it immobilized Messi could still play like this, what would they have done with orime Messi

I was really disappointed by the final outcome of the game after seeing them leading 2-0 for a large part of the game, because that was how Senegal and ivory coast threw away their lead, and later felt to a defeat , so it was really painful to watch if you are supporting them.

Am not looking too much into those excuses because even though the officiating was questionable, they would have held on to their lead until the end of the game if they doesn't lose their head when it really matters, so pointing fingers when they themselves messed up only makes them looks like a bad loser.

am even more disappointed than you are because I was almost convince that Egypt is going to win..so it was a big disappointment for me, Egypt couldn't keep their defence tight and even if the officiating was questionable, Egypt should have tried not to concede goals. I suspected this game won't end well for Egypt given the team they were up against I know it won't be easy. Argentina mounted pressure to equalized the game which they succeeded,I was expecting Egypt to tighten their defense til the penalty shootout but it seems they had given up already even though they haven't loss the game. After Argentina scored  the two goals, egypt players started to play with fear and that cause a loophole in their defense, Fernandez found a weaker spot, later he got an opportunity which he converted to a goal. Right now morroco is the last africa team in this tournament and they are facing France. Morroco is strong, they will surely figure out France weakness and defeat them.

Meanwhile I never meant to say that African teams were under a spell because I understand that football has nothing to do with Voodoo but there's always this mindset that no African team will get beyond some stages. Back in 2010 when Ghana got to the quarter finals, the Entire Africa celebrated. The growth pace is good btw but it's time to get better and step up to this game of football in Africa. Congratulations to Egypt for reaching that round of 16 in their first ever world cup to go beyond the group stage.

Exactly! That mindset that this is our limit is really frustrating. It's not like we don't want to break past it, it just feels like we are inferior to other teams. When it comes to FIFA world cup none have reached a final before, Morocco managed to reach the semis in 2022 which is a great result.

The Moroccans have always represented us very well in the world cup, I wonder if they can do it again this time. Although, the opponent this time is a really tough one, but with good tactics I believe they can win. Good luck to them.

Was it not part of the reason why US try to deny entry access to one of the referee from Africa, what do we expect when things like this are happening and we cannot even speak for equal rights, the same people that preach about National integration are those that are being the mastermind of being partial in their decision process, everything you said here are true, you know the ranking in FIFA world cup is different from that of the afcon and this is why some of these decisions cannot be fully subjected to changes after the referee has already made the decision.

FIFA is under the influence of politicians. Before this World Cup started, most big names had made huge bets on who they felt would win the World Cup. I am very sure Argentina has the highest odds to win. Recently, the support for Argentina has had a massive decline due to the cheating that occurred yesterday against Egypt. Messi supporters have also come out to say they support Messi to win the World Cup for the second time, but it has to be a fair win, not a win by cheating. Argentina have been backed by FIFA since the last World Cup. Now, in this present World Cup, it is repeating. The luck we have is that it is becoming obvious that the World Cup was made for Messi.

The Moroccan minister has come out to say Morocco is competing in the World Cup for Morocco, not for Africa. He went on to say that all Africans supporting Morocco should shift their attention elsewhere. Well, I understand where this pain is coming from, and sure, it is because of the AFCON. Africa might have just one team in the quarter-finals, but we made a mark in the competition. Nine African teams made it to the next round. And we showed the world that we are developing and can't be taken for granted anymore. No African team was disgracefully beaten in this World Cup. Every one of them fought hard until poor officiating, tactical lapses, and inexperience affected these teams.

Maybe you expected more, but I see these teams are heroes and good representatives of the continent.

Morocco left in this world cup as African team. No African countries has ever won the world cup before, only Morocco has reaching the semi finals in 2022 world cup, and now they are in the quarter finals to face France again. My point here is that this is the time we should support our fellow African because if they win it, that will surely change Africa narrative, nobody will criticise Africans not having won the world cup. I'm confident our support will go a long way for Morocco.

I know you are calling for Africans to support Morocco since they are the only African team remaining in the world cup. I am happy that African team is among the 8 teams that are remaining in the world cup right now and that is Morocco. Speak for yourself. Before the World Cup, maybe people felt that way about African teams in the tournament but in hindsight people now recognize the quality of the African teams despite their FIFA rankings. We saw teams like Cape Verde and Egypt give us some of the best matches in the World Cup. To be fair, they have all done incredibly well…France vs Morocco is going to be a tough game, and I’m not confident enough to put my money on France because Morocco might just cause an upset.

African teams are no hero in this World Cup tournament except for Morocco. What are you even saying? 9 African teams made it to the round of 32 is that something to celebrate about? when about 4 to 5 teams finish third in their respective groups? did you know that if it was the previous way that immediately after the group stage matches, they move to the round of 16 don't you know that 8 African teams would have been eliminated in the group stages leaving behind only Egypt and Morocco. African teams didn't do well in this World cup, let's call a spade a spade and stop giving ourselves false hopes. Apart from Cape Verde and probably DR Congo, the other African countries are familiar with the world cup, but it even looks like Cape Verde and DR Congo played better because they played against some bigger countries in their groups and in the round of 32. Ordinary round of 16 only 2 African teams reached there, and you want us to tell them well done, what did they do.

I think Africa has a lot of great players but they are shining to other nations with poor systems of management. I concur with the fact that it is the quality of the coach that is determined to incorporate these great talents. With appropriate technical consultation they can definitely be very successful in the international arena.

I think any team with a strong fighting mentality would have been able to trouble Egypt to make them fumble the two goals lead. We saw the proof when Belgium defeated Senegal, Belgium who are not really good, struggling to remain in the world cup until the game against Senegal and then USA.

African teams needs to do better, learn to hold on until the final moment, this is football until the final whistle is blown there's an opportunity for an opponent to cover sch gc
