Still using Servarica, or did you find a more suitable hosting service? I'm still with Servarica. It's hard to beat 32 GB RAM, 8 cores, 1 TB NVMe, 2 TB SAN and unlimited bandwidth at $220 per year paid with Bitcoin.

I picked the same RAM and CPU options, but I wasn't able to find a hybrid disk option when I signed up so I went with 2TB of NVMe disk space. But yes, agreed, the price for these options is unbeatable from what I've seen.

Which server is that? i.e V3 KVM Slices, V2 KVM Slim Slice, V2 KVM Fat Slice, etc... I was thinking about getting their new V3 KVM Slices since they say it has "320% more performance per $ compared to last offer (V2)", but I can only see 32 RAM / 32 cores / 960 GB NVME (and for $34/month).

Which server is that? i.e V3 KVM Slices, V2 KVM Slim Slice, V2 KVM Fat Slice, etc... It was the 2024 Unified Slim Play (8x), which is no longer available. I've seen that one, it's their response to high RAM prices. So basically, CPU cores are now cheaper to add than RAM. But, considering my experience with "dedicated" cores, I doubt they're really dedicated. Overselling just makes more sense, that's why I only see occasional CPU steal (but when it happens, it's a lot). On the other hand, I only occassionally use the majority of my cores. So Your Milage May Vary, so to speak. It literally says "We don’t advertise — we grow through your referrals." Should I start posting my referral here? I don't want it to look like I'm promoting them for money.

I've restarted Fulcrum to add this: But if you want to get rid of that, you can uncomment and enable "anon_logs = true" in your fulcrum config. It doesn't change much, as far as I know no client IP addresses were saved to disk, but now they also don't show up on my console when I restart Fulcrum.

Bump for all those people who are still overpaying transaction fees I trust you and all that, but I'd rather not configure my Electrum to point solely at the loyce.club server - or whatever it's called, I read the domain but I don't really memorize those - so did you write instructions for how to recreate your 0.1 sat/vbyte server for myself? Hardware won't be a problem - I have two very powerful servers at my disposal.

I don't like to host software directly on the metal because it makes it harder to uninstall when/if I'm done using it.

I mean does Fulcrum have like a Docker build or something? I haven't checked. I don't like to host software directly on the metal I'm the exact opposite: I don't like Docker.

The Fulcrum package/app on Umbrel uses a docker environment, specifically currently the following docker image: ... fulcrum: image: >- cculianu/fulcrum:v2.1.1@sha256:72d8b2f9142f83a51c6c3ba2f6931b496a08bede610b28ef2315b87aa1e3bb64 ...
(Partial snippet from the docker-compose.yml of "Fulcrum app" from Umbrel)Fulcrum's Github repo doesn't elaborate much on building the docker image (or I looked at the wrong places). You may find what you need, somewhere.

I don't like to host software directly on the metal I'm the exact opposite: I don't like Docker. I'm not a fan either, but there are some things that are way easier to manage in docker containers, like personal mempool for example. Almost anything that requires a dynamic web interface is frequently easier to manage through docker. When I need docker for something I isolate it in it's own VM. Same thing with NodeJs. Fuck that shit, it ruins a Debian install faster than you can say NodeJs.

What I like to do, is that I have things like Talksearch's backend built entirely with Docker, and then I can just swap out versions if I see any funny behavior, without staying at the terminal for 20+ minutes. It's mighty convenient. Same thing with NodeJs. Fuck that shit, it ruins a Debian install faster than you can say NodeJs.
I also don't like Node, it seems to have major security problems with its package manager, but unfortunately it's the only way to go if you are working on e.g. SaaS.

How about nvm? i remember i decide to use it to try an app, because i didn't want to mess my linux repository.

FWIW, their guide still say you just need to download and extract the binary. So you could use one same folder to store the binary, config file and fulctrum data for convenience. It's pretty darn simple to set up. Honestly, with such a simple set up I don't know why anyone would bother with a docker container. I store my binaries in /opt/fulcrum/bin, and my config, banner, and ssl files are in /opt/fulcrum. My data is on a mounted drive in /srv/data/fulcrum. I also have symlinks to the binaries in /usr/bin, and there's also the /etc/systemd/system/fulcrum.service file. Remove those few items and all trace of the package is gone. Same thing with NodeJs. Fuck that shit, it ruins a Debian install faster than you can say NodeJs.
How about nvm? i remember i decide to use it to try an app, because i didn't want to my linux repository. Fuck that fucking shit the fuck out of here. I've never had any luck with anything Java related. I mean, nvm makes managing shit a bit less shitty, but it's still shit.
