Update to v1.2 or later is recommended as a precaution, as this is compiled using OpenSSL 1.0.1g. Earlier versions of OpenSSL are vulnerable to the "Heartbleed" exploit. See below for download link.

---------------------------------------

First launched in July 2013, became sick due to a bug in January 2014, now revived in April 2014! The original dev has abandoned this coin so I have taken over to give it a new lease on life.

Original Specs:

- PoW+PoS hybrid
- 60 seconds per block
- Difficulty retargets every block
- PoW blocks:
  + 50 coins standard reward (1426 blocks/day)
  + bonus blocks of 4400 (1 block/day), 900 (3 blocks/day), 400 (10 blocks/day)
  + 1440 total PoW & PoS blocks per day

But things aren't so easy in the real world:

This coin is hard to mine. From the above specs, it sounds like there will be an average of (4400 x 1) + (900 x 3) + (400 x 10) + (50 x 1426) = 82400 CDC per day. But because this coin is so PoS heavy, it is actually a lot harder to mine. As well as PoS eating into the 1440 blocks per day allocation (a PoS block may only mint 0.01 or even 0.00) it also causes a lot of orphans. In one horrible day late last year almost every PoW block was orphaned; a total of about 250 CDC was minted over the entire 24 hours - less than 1% of the expected total!

So give this slightly unusual coin a try. Mining can be frustrating, but if you stick with it, you never know what could happen. Remember that big 4400 block is worth a whopping 88 standard blocks. Smiley

Please see below to ensure you are on the correct chain.

Where to download:

Download Cloudcoin v1.3.2 from Dropbox:

Windows GUI client: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x56jcuek6pye0r4/cloudcoin-qt.exe

Windows commandline daemon: https://www.dropbox.com/s/egp9vqnnrntj5t2/cloudcoind.exe

Source code: https://github.com/almightyruler/cloudcoin

Cloudcoin v1.1, v1.2 and v1.3.x are fully compatible with the files generated by the original v1.0/0.7.2 client. Just copy cloudcoin-qt.exe and/or cloudcoind.exe over the existing file.

How to ensure you are on the correct chain:

1. If you have never used CDC, installing and starting the new client will get you onto the correct chain.

2. If you have used CDC previously, but have not started the client since before January 2014, installing and starting the new client will get you onto the correct chain.

3. If you have used CDC more recently, and your block count is around 228xxx you will need to start over with the database. Install the new client, delete the following Cloudcoin files (blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat, and all of the database/ folder), then start the new client to sync onto the correct chain.

Warning: do not solo mine while your client is syncing! If your miner happens to find a block in the middle of a sync, you may start your own fork away from the main chain.

You should not need to use addnode= in cloudcoin.conf, but if you do run into syncing issues, the following peers are currently on the correct chain:

Code:
# List updated 10th June 2015
# coin: cloudcoin
addnode=37.187.96.15
addnode=107.170.49.232
addnode=192.168.34.1
addnode=85.24.169.215
addnode=71.228.74.170
addnode=86.5.66.65
addnode=203.20.114.252
addnode=95.114.239.29
addnode=82.100.89.15
addnode=122.235.84.63

It's a relaunch. The dev abandoned the coin and the network stalled due to a bug. I have revived it.

I'm assuming the 1 positive out of the 51 different client checks is a false positive. This EXE was cross compiled using Gitian on a Linux system. The files included in the source will allow anyone with Gitian and a 386-lucid VM to replicate this compile.

4400 block found by a lucky miner a few minutes ago. At current rates, that one block is worth around 0.075 BTC.

Working on getting the source on github now.

what does Cloudcoin pay in PoS%? I know alot of coins suffered the negative timestamp bug that caused blockchains to lockup, they were cloned from the CDC source code. Does this new client resolve the issue? Can we also get coin-control as well, its pretty much a must with PoS/PoW hybrid coins. I am glad to see people reviving old blockchains instead of spamming new ones.

So far POS seems to be working fine on the new blockchain, no issues like the old one.

Yes, I've contacted bter with a link to the new client's source. Hopefully they can get it set up soon.

Looks like PoS pays a nominal amount around 1% p/a.

The negative retarget bug has been fixed and will apply from block 291253. I did it as a future fork to minimise disruption in the event that we get hit with the bug again before everyone has a chance to update. Note that even after this block it's not necessarily a hard fork; original v1.0 clients on the correct chain will still work just fine, UNLESS/UNTIL there's a neg retarget. If that happens, v1.1 clients will continue to work, while v1.0 clients will break again.

As far as coin control, I know we discussed that in the GRW thread, but that looks to be a fair bit more complex - maybe something for the future. This release was about fixing the serious negative retarget bug, plus minimising the messing around needed to get onto the correct chain.

why are you reviving this scamcoin?

Because it still has community support, including an exchange. Once I figured out how to get around the negative retarget bug and get mining working again, without a client update needed, it seemed natural to continue, reviving it properly with a new client release.

I know its history wasn't so great - large premine, original developer using fake accounts as shills to generate interest - but I'm sure we can move past that. It's not dead just yet.

I sympathise with you losing money because of him, but we're moving forward now. He has nothing to do with CDC any more.
