The only thing I see will replace crude oil is electric powered machines. For example people nowadays install solar system in their homes and this has gradually replaced generator and reduce the cost of living expecialy the expenses of prepaid meters. Now we have electric powered cars, electric powered motorcycle and the rest of them. All this innovation will help to shape the the industry in another dimension. Although crude oil and other natural gas may still work alongside with the new innovation and not going to be replaced. Nuclear energy is much better option for many countries but sadly due to restrictions and side effects many countries are not touching these few developed countries are taking good advantage of this and giving cheap electricity to their peoples.
Solar and hydro energy is also better ideas, but still few countries are not capable of taking good advantage of this which is the problem for them many countries are having good advantage of taking alternative of these oil and gas sources but sadly conflicts and wars are having not favorable conditions for them.

Gas can actually get replacement but not really of crude oil, most of the domestic usage of gas in my region is for cooking which actually can cause decline if it fades away. Industrial usage of many gases are for chemical processes and so there are no chance where gases can be replaced.

These are all natural resources and I don't see any phenomena where these can't be used again because of new technology.

Due to the lack of sufficient production or availability of oil and gas, people are trying to find alternatives to it. Although there are several alternatives, I think solar energy will be the most widely used energy. It is environmentally friendly and easily available in all places, so people have a demand for it. If this electricity is captured and used by utilizing the heat of the sun, then people will be able to use this energy very easily at low cost, which I think is appropriate. It can be used at a much lower cost than before, so people are most interested in it now.

Although we can also imagine some alternatives such as nuclear energy and wind energy etc., among other sources, solar energy will be the most effective of them.

In every solution, there is always another problem elsewhere waiting to be solve. Crude oil and gas is something that as been there for ages and it's as a result of dead decay organic matters. I wouldn't say it wouldn't deplete with time but there is a scientific proof that oil is going to be here for many years that centuries are going to be gone and it will still be here but not forever, as long as it doesn't have a renewable source we should expect it to stop at one point in the future.

If you take a look at electric cars that we have today, the main motivation for them today is because of fuel issues and green house gas, we need to control green house emission because it was affecting our ozone layers and indirectly, demand for gas is going to reduce but this cars are not affordable for poor and middle class people. I want to believe it's because we are still early, with time they are going to be cheaper than gas cars and demand for fuel will reduce too.

However, only the government determines some growth. Many countries today rely on fuel even US relies on it despite been one of the countries with crude, they are the ones that can decide if fuel will become something important in our society. If they mandated fuel cars to go in extinction, trust me fuel demand will die completely. This is obvious. Obviously we are moving towards Electric Vehicles. Many countries are having EV mandates and pretty much forcing people to buy electric vehicles. Its actually one of the reasons why Elon and Trump had that fight a few months back.

Trump doesn't want to force people to buy electric cars. Many other governments like in Canada, have these mandates and they want to force people to buy cars that nobody wants. I think in Canada something like less than 5% vehicle sold are electric and they want to raise that number to 20%.

EV doesnt work for everybody. For one you need a house to charge it, you can't charge it in an apartment building or if you park on the street. And many just dont want to deal with the new technology and have trouble finding a mechanic to work on it, if something breaks.
