Let me explain the thread title. I know a lot of us here would say we should be gambling for fun, but in reality most people don’t gamble just for fun, they do it mainly for profit. Even if they lose, they keep coming back because they hope to eventually become profitable in gambling.

Just few percentage are the ones that gamble for fun, most people gamble for the sake of money, some people who claim they gambling for fun are just deceiving themselves, most of them are after money, that’s why they are always finding it difficult to stop gambling even when the are suppose to stop. They are already addicted to gambling, but they don’t want people to know they already addicted to gambling, and they will keep on deceiving people that they are gambling for fun.

But what if people stop aiming for profit and gamble only for fun, what do you think would be the impact on the gambling industry?

The gambling sites will till be making their money, just that their profits will drop drastically, because addicted gamblers that gamble anyhow will stop, and everyone will start gambling responsibly. Actually even if people gamble for fun, they still going to be losing, so because people are gambling for fun doesn’t mean they won’t be losing.

By my stupid math - the gambling industry will still thrive considering how difficult it is to expect gamblers to gamble for fun. The average gambler to make a profit - even if they come for fun, then the casino still benefits from the house edge. This is why the gambling industry is sought after as a profitable business - but it is not for everyone.

People go to amusement parks to play virtual games; they pay for this and go home happy. The same will apply to gambling as well. Even though casinos indeed benefit from people who is addicted to gambling and have a very bad decision making in general, casinos would be still profitable of most of people were responsible gamblers, you know, this industry would not be as big as it is today, but casinos would not disappear, as they do not only rely on addiction to gambling.
There is a fine line between demonizing casinos and pointing out irresponsibility from people who gambler recklessly.

Also, we should not forget there are tools for people who are aware they are gamblers so they don't get completely caught, like self-exclusion or webpages about responsible gambling.

That is actually true, bro..   The system is literally designed so the house always has an edge, whether people bet small or big, over time the casino is guaranteed to win...  The funny part is many gamblers think they are smart enough to beat the system, but the odds are never in their favor..  Even if you win today, the more you keep playing, the more you are feeding the site..
That’s why casinos can never really go broke, they’ve structured it in a way where survival is guaranteed, and addiction just makes it worse for the players..

The industry will still grow because not all people playing for fun do win, like we all know gambling wins are not guaranteed, more research and knowledge will be derived from gambling and it will reduce the numbers of addicts, damage or harm we have in our society because it is the love of money and greed that has led alot of persons gone astray, ask de form being an addicts we all know other problems attached to persons reasoning gambling for money, people will not see gambling as destroying lives but helping lives, if we have to weigh the successes  and the effects among gamblers, the effects far out weighs the success, because they are gambling for money and not for fun, for me , the best approach of gambling is for fun and nothing else, if you win fine and if you don't, still fine no side effect , instead more knowledge is added to you, watch out most gamblers that have won their games very big, they don't gamble for the money instead for fun, and that is why, you still see them in the industry, but for those that gamble for money are being taken away by gambling effects and that is the end of their gambling lives.

He’s not wrong, gambling industry has grown this much because of the way people gamble irresponsibly - if the government should regulate how much an individual is allowed to gamble and people actually follow it, do you think you’ll still be seeing different gambling sites popping out every 2 seconds? The amount of casinos would reduce because the revenue they’ll be getting will no longer be as good as what they are currently getting from those who gamble without even thinking about the impact it will have on their account.

Although, the increasing number of people who gambles might also impact it but not to the extent that we won’t see the impact of the limit that would be in place.

Carrot and stick incentive to gambling is in some way you hope to win.  I dont think anyone sets out to lose so no that premise would not likely see great revenue figures.

Basically, all gambling games offer us the entertainment or fun side. Unfortunately, many gamblers don't realize it because they only focus on earning money. They don't really care with enjoying the process. Sure, this gambling industry will continue as usual even if most people just gamble for fun. There is nothing change in my own view. People will always pay some money if they want to gamble, there is no free gambling games. I think people who say gambling for fun, they will also expect to win the games. It is actually not so different with common gamblers. The difference is only about the maximum amount of money to use. Those who focus on winning money only, they probably will spend more money. Meanwhile people who gamble for fun, they will use the free money that they have only.

In the US 10% of spenders account for 50% of spending. So your level of "just for fun" gambling might be pennies but for the richest 10% it might be hundreds of dollars at one sitting.

Sadly the economy is structured in a very upside down unfair manner. The ones doing the most work get the least of the results from the whole economic activity and those holding the most money simply get the most.

So yes of course the casinos would still survive if everyone was playing just for fun. Maybe the casino economy would shrink a bit becaue 4fun playing means that many of the poorer people that play would have to stop, but still casinos would be profitable, especially online ones.

I am not against him either. My only take is that gambling will not go extinct because money is no longer involved. Some gambling games will still be played with or without money. Yes, the rate of activity in the gambling industry will reduce, but gambling will still go on. New casinos may not spring up since the motivation to enter into the business is low now, but gamblers will always seek means to make themselves happy, even if it is as common as local board games played mostly on the streets. If the government wants to impose strict gambling laws, gamblers will have two options: either to disobey the government or just dance to their tune.
