It's useless to advise a chronic gambler because they will never listen, especially since their daily life is filled with gambling.

Advising an addicted gambler is almost a waste of time but even as that is still good playing your own role as a friend
regardless if he will take the advice or not it's just important you never ignored or play you didn't care when you saw him going the wrong way. Moreover let it be recorded by God or by even man that you have obviously show some level of concern but the person in question decline it.

There have been many cases where addiction eventually leads to bankruptcy, forcing them to sell everything they own to raise money for gambling.

That is the height of it all when a player have started selling off his property just to fix up gambling bills at this point it has completely gone out of hands and it's only God that can see such person through. However gambling is what that was initially made for our fun and entertainment but some people has turned it in to something else  (source of income) and by doing so when they start having problems due to persistent chasing of lost and all that they'll end up tagging gambling as a bad thing forgetting they cause it all.

The only person whos job is to earn from gambling are casino employees or casino owners. In my opinion everyone else is just customer, and as such they can not make gambling their job. Maybe they can earn from referrals, but that is also making work for the casino. Sitting by computer and making bets isnt a job if you ask me. If your friends qualify such activity as work, that could be part of their problem with gambling.

I still remember the moments when I played many years ago in a physical casino, which had its own unique atmosphere. It completely immersed the player in this world of gambling. It is quite natural that when wrong decisions are made, gambling actually becomes a very risky trap, where the loss of self-control begins. I doubt it if you said lack of income is the reason why people become addicted to gamble, although lack of income can contribute to that but not in all cases because there are some gamblers that has a stable source of income yet they are gambling nonstop even to the point of becoming addicted to gamble. So greed is just the threat here, if we can avoid being greed then addiction can easily be stopped. This your idea of getting them a job can't even help them stop the addiction unless they stop being greedy, so for me before I will proceed with this idea of getting them job I will tackle the spirit of greed very hard so that it will depart from them.

you are correct, it is not because of lack of income that do cause gambling addiction. What causes gambling addiction in most cases is greed, the feeling of not being contempted with what with have. Also not been moderate can possibly leads to addiction, spending too much time gambling can leads to addiction. Overindulgence in gambling is the major cause of gambling addiction. Even the rich do get addicted to gambling. Therefore, gambling addiction isn't cause by lack of income.

No one knows which one will win so even soliciting advice is useless unless that person can go to the future and give you info of who will win, People who gambles are not all adults, but mostly yes, and they don't need advice because if ever they follow you and its a loss you might get blame also by doing so , so better refrain from giving advice because they know what their doing, you might help them get out when they are losing a lot, but not on their decisions to bet.

Well addiction can happen to anyone more especially when you take gambling as a source of income I tell you, sometimes the quest of wanting more having won some amounts can be so taunting but then it takes a whole lot to get over addictions when one finally experience it and I'll say  giving an advice to such person's it's quite cool but it takes a good deal of decision for the other end to comply.

Considering gambling as a source of income and expecting to earn extra money from gambling means becoming addicted to gambling. Gambling is perfect for entertainment only. Gambling is never perfect for making money. Those who have become addicted so far have basically developed the addiction of earning a lot of money from gambling. I have seen many people who only hoped to earn money through gambling, they only became addicted to gambling, but those who took gambling as entertainment and used very small amounts of money in gambling did not become addicted to gambling. So I want to say that if gambling can be taken as entertainment and used a small amount of money and gambled responsibly, then one can remain without addiction on the gambling platform.

I've been in that situation when I was a beginner in gambling, honestly being forcibly stopped in a mentally and psychologically unstable situation because the emotion of losing is very unpleasant, the mind still really wants to gamble but the funds have run out, but it's not a matter of how much your funds are because no matter how much your funds are if for example your approach is still aggressive like that then surely it will eventually run out too.

It's more about self-control, as you said but most gamblers fail to have it, I think self-control depends on how responsible you are.

Base on all you’ve said , the way your friend is living not healthy at all . Because his not practicing an healthy gambling habits (which is bad ) , i know that is not actually easy maintain good self control when come to gambling especially when you came into it with the wrong mindset (of getting rich Quick). Someone like that won’t see gambling as meaning of entertainment, but as source of income. Truth to be told there’s no skill that will guarantee you steady wins in gambling , losses is inevitable that is why is best you play it safe , by finding all means to reduce the risk .
