Once you do get shackled with addiction then this is something which is that very hard to get out specially if you do still have money that you would be that tending to spend it out. If such person are very discipline they can do their referral program without getting addicted to gamble. In my area I have seen someone that works with a local betting store that always gamble, sometimes he uses their money to gamble but he normal pays back. I'm only saying that some people that works with a particular gambling platforms also gamble and are likely addicted to gamble, but some of them are not. Owners of the casino would not matter if they gambled on their own casino because it is their money getting back to their pocket anyway. Sometimes they do test out other casinos who are also doing well to see what stuff they can steal and put into their casino. This second group is not addicted but they are being strategic if they are keeping the money spent within limits, of course they have already owned a casino, so their level is much higher than the common folk.

The problem is exactly as you describe - these people are generally using gambling to fill up some void in their life but it's a destructive habit instead of creative. It's fine if you approach gambling as a bit of short term fun, but if you start doing it more than one or two times a week you are really going to end up in trouble. Unfortunately it is decisions that you make which get you into an addicted mindset and only your own willpower is going to release you from it. An external party is unlikely to be able to force a change, the best they can do is encourage it and support someone when they're ready to extract themselves from that situation.

It is really sad that they fill the void with gambling though isn't it? I mean Can you imagine if they flipped the script and put all their time and money into something that would actually benefit them or something that they could build brick by brick instead of wasting their little time and money away on hopes and dreams of gambling to win a fortune? The odds of their success woudl probably be much much greater if they put their resources into a side hustle, even a hobby that could potentially see some upside. I find this strategy more suitable than any other strategy. Most of the time, the more you try to control your gambling, the more your losses increase due to emotions. Or, the more excitement you have, the more you will lose. Managing your money is the best way to reduce your losses.
Gambling is not the only source of income, it is just for entertainment. Addictive gamblers are those who do not maintain time constraints and money constraints. You need to first establish control over time constraints and money constraints.

I once experienced how easy it was when I was simply playing and placing bets, but at some point I hit a losing streak and couldn't stand it. I simply didn't want to quit in a bad mood at that moment, even though smart players understand that the key is to limit losses per day, week, and so on.
