I want to believe education isn't referred to as school in his context. Gambling needs education and it's not about having some special knowledge by reading and writing, you must understand how something work before you venture on it with your money. If you don't have gambling education, how it's play and why you should play it, I don't think such person will ever make money from gambling, without education you will struggle to make money.

As a gambler, you need to have knowledge of understanding how to bet, the teams you are looking. I don't think it's a good idea if you come across to a random guy or even your friends to give them some advice, but I think it's more beneficial if you help him to go for rehab than just counselling him to help him become a better person.

However, if there are no rehab facilities nearby, maybe helping him to go for a vacation far from the casino while counselling him might be a good option to help him to get rid of the addiction.

Counselling an addicted gambler is also helpful to an extent but I don't think it can not completely solve the entire problem , because if that person is still accessable to physical cash and offcourse moving freely without restrictions then am afraid because despite being counselled he will still continue gambling regardless. But in other hand if the person is properly rehabilitated in any of the rehabilitation centre then he stands a better chance of doing better.

Addiction is not something we should joke with perhaps it has distroyed so many people over the years, however addicted person's are also human and they need care too, so if by chance we are in better position to help them out of their presents predicament then we shouldn't  think twice but do what is expected to reverse back a dieing soul.

And the good catch is they will listen after they managed to survive with the addiction that triggered inside them, with your guidance you can find alternative ways to link up together and make that as a good practice to remove gambling completely in their system, as sometimes those who went out from rehab can still be pollute if so happened that they'll be expose back to gambling, they can easily attract and the chance of being addicted is not by far.
