We are building **CoinScore**, a lightweight research tool that evaluates cryptocurrencies across multiple dimensions.

For example, Ethereum currently shows:

Market Cap: $549B+

24h Volume: $31B+

Total Score: ~70

👉 You can see that each dimension (Price, Holders, Dev, etc.) is broken down with its own score and reference links.

Question for the community:
⚡ Which metric do you think should be prioritized next — Holders distribution or Developer activity?

I'm having mixed feelings about the addition of a voting system in the future... I don't think there's a bulletproof way against those users who keep on finding workarounds for altering the overall ratings.

As you pointed out, a voting system does carry the risk of manipulation. That’s why we are not planning to let it directly dictate the scores. Instead, it will serve as a supplementary signal with limited weight, combined with outlier detection and trust-based adjustments to minimize abuse.

The reason we want to introduce voting is that it allows us to capture the community’s real sentiment and “on-the-ground health” that can’t always be reflected in market or development data alone. By incorporating this layer, we believe the ratings can better reflect actual reality.

Your suggestion of a report button for incorrect or invalid links is also extremely valuable. We plan to add this feature early so that users can directly flag issues, helping us maintain quality and transparency alongside the voting input.

Ultimately, our goal is to build CoinScore on three pillars: transparent evidence, objective data, and community input. In this way, the scores can remain balanced and credible from every perspective. We truly welcome further feedback. 🙏

Your site is still buggy, first I get the scores of Bitcoin and Ethereum, then after I search other tokens and want to see Bitcoin and Ethereum it show the same error message.

Anyway what criteria do you use to get those news? I use ChatGPT using this prompt "list top 5 developer news about Bitcoin in 2025", but the sources I get is different with you.

No news source could be a significant criterion for determining the value of a coin. Every news portal has the option of purchasing news publication, and the price difference varies only with the popularity of the portal. So, for a certain amount, you can easily pump a coin or product.
As for the OP's tool, it seems to rely too heavily on Google News as a source, which is certainly not neutral enough.

• Bug: we’re seeing an intermittent cache/state issue when switching from BTC/ETH to other tokens. We’ve reproduced it and are shipping a fix that (1) prevents stale state reuse and (2) retries the fetch instead of re-throwing the same error. For now a hard refresh (or opening the token in a new tab) should bypass it. If you can DM browser + a short clip, that’ll help us verify it’s fully gone.

• “News” criteria (MVP): the news/evidence list is a discovery feed, not a score driver. Scores come from objective metrics (dev activity, holder concentration, liquidity, etc.). For discovery we:
– de-duplicate by URL/title and drop press-release patterns (“sponsored”, “partnered”, PR wires)
– assign very low weight to general news portals; higher to primary sources (GitHub releases/commits, official repos, specs, arXiv, vendor blogs with signed authorship)
– tag each item by source-type so users can see what’s primary vs media
We’ll publish the exact source-type weights in Methodology and expose a report button for incorrect/invalid links.

Completely agree on the risk. That’s why “news portals” are not a significant criterion in our scoring. In MVP they’re used only for discovery, and they carry minimal or zero weight in the score. The score side prefers:
• Dev signals: commits/releases/issues, project cadence (normalized)
• On-chain/market structure: holder distribution, liquidity depth/locks
• Adoption: documented integrations / clients (with verifiable sources)

We’ll also publish an allowlist/denylist policy for sources and label each evidence item with its class (primary, academic, vendor, media). If you have a source list you trust, we’re happy to incorporate it.
