You are actually right self control is the number one thing a gambler is suppose to have even before one starts, betting because self control helps a lot, not just continuous betting till you get a better win.
So many people feel or believe to play and one day they hit it big, without understand that one will loose it all financially if he or she doesn't have a bet limit.
It's very very easy to lose in betting and it's not just about knowing your limit to it it all about a good planning of how you bet, I mean setting your budget, if it goes the way you planned or not you need to stick to that budget. Agree, this is a well explained topic where people should realize that YOLO isn't the key. People thought that we should be aggressive gambler, and not afraid to lose because you aren't a gambler if can't risk money but this topic debunks all of it.

As we stay in gambling, we're not really safe at losing, there are still huge chances of losing money even we're trying to lower the risks. Everything in the casino is designed for them to earn money because it's business after all. A wrong impression in gambling might lead to more problems and difficult situations!

I have a friend that bets on sport and when I asked him why don’t you quit gambling, he told me that he only makes small bets and I have seen his account. He is quite a winner too. Then I asked him, if you are winning most of the time, why don’t you bet bigger? I mean If I was winning most of the time, I would definitely do that. Let’s say I turned my $10 into $100. Ok that’s cool but why not make $100k into $1m? If you can do the earlier, you should be able to do the latter too. Anyway he then told me it doesn’t work that way because he has seen people going bankrupt because of their greed. That made sense actually but he still cannot stop playing which is not the worst outcome.
