I haven't had this feeling because I haven't exchanged any goods for Bitcoin yet. It would not be possible for me to do this either because the country I live in has not yet recognized Bitcoin and is still under strict restrictions by the government and central bank. So again, no shopping mall, restaurant, hospital or grocery store in the country has dared to exchange goods for Bitcoin. Since it is not possible in my country, I will not be able to share such a joyful feeling.

In 2010 it might make sense if you pay food such as pizza or other types of food with bitcoin, maybe the price of bitcoin in that year is only $ 1- $ 10 dollars, of course you do not pay a lot of transactions.

Its nice to know that people who owns shops and restaurants are willing to accept payments in bitcoin.
It would have been better to know the country where the restaurant is to know if the country allows bitcoin as a legal tender.
I haven't paid for food in bitcoin but I have used online services to make bitcoin payments for products and services.
It feels good to make payments in bitcoin as you say. No middle man, just peer to peer transaction.

I did this with vacation once. There are many ways that you can use it, I also bought a website once as well. These are all great stuff and definitely ends up with great results. We should be considering how this is a great way to return and make some money, it is not that bad and I like spending it. I know that people dislike spending it and that is the most obvious issue, because we are facing a lot of people who just wants to invest and hold and never part ways until they sell.

When in reality, crypto is also a spending thing, a currency, so we should definitely look at it as a currency at times too. I am not saying we should only spend, we should definitely consider how things could change and be better on the long run.

However lets face it, most coins are hoarded rather than spent, the longterm/illiquid supply increased to 14M+ BTC.  El Salvador demonstrates that daily use remained small.  Although capacity & merchant adoption are still restricted, lightning facilitates merchant payments. so cryptocurrency payments are expanding however still remain a niche market.  Split your stack, in my opinion, invest some for the excitement, hodl some for the profits & strike a balance between volatility & usefulness

That’s awesome! I’ve only paid with Bitcoin once—at a small café that accepted it—and even though it was just a cup of coffee, it felt kinda futuristic. Like I was part of this bigger shift, even if it was just a few bucks. Definitely a different vibe from just tapping a card.

I haven't paid Bitcoin for food. But for some stuff that I've ordered, I've done that before but that's long time ago when the price wasn't close to the ATH that we've got now and even half of it.

Trying something new to help the economy of Bitcoin through spending it is a good experience. But a time will come to you that you wouldn't want to spend it.

I live in country where Bitcoin along with other crypto is not legalised, so merchants don't accept it and I don't have this option available. Having said that the ban on Bitcoin is now turning out to be beneficial for us, since we can't easily convert our Bitcoin to fiat I am hodling Bitcoin. There are options available like p2p, where I exchange by Bitcoins within my circle of friends but my point of view is that true potential of Bitcoin lies in hodling it for long term.

I have once bought a motorbike and made the payment in bitcoin, the feeling was good and I can't wait to do that again when I will be going to buy my first car..
But ordering food and paying with bitcoin, well, if I am going to do this, it's definitely going to be for test purposes only and not that I really prefer to pay for food in bitcoin, this is because for small payments like this, I prefer to settle it in fiat because it's cheaper, faster and better..

Bitcoin for me only becomes a very good option for payment when I am either paying for something that cost very large amount of money I cant possibly carry in cash, or can't transfer ones due to bank daily transaction limits, or that I am sending money abroad to a loved one, then I would love to do this using bitcoin since doing this in fiat would attract alot of fees and the loved one won't still receive the money instantly like it is with bitcoin..
But paying for petty things like food, I will always prefer to do this using fiat.

Unfortunately, there are no restaurants in my area where they accept bitcoin as a payment, so I’ve never experienced that. However, I have bought some other things using bitcoin online and it actually feels good, like you have already benefited bitcoin as a currency and not just as an investment alone. I have not paid for food in Bitcoin so I can not tell the feelings you had maybe until the day I do so, but since this is not new again, it might not have any special impact on me. I have been reading comments of people that has paid for different service with their Bitcoin and I would also do so when I want buy anything and the seller agrees to accept payment in Bitcoin. The idea of small abs medium enterprises taking Bitcoin for payment is really good and if it can continue like that is many other place like my home, it will encourage more Bitcoin p2p transaction and cause people to know Bitcoin more.

It’s quite satisfying knowing you finally use your bitcoin as a payment method, as a currency which is actually the main purpose of bitcoin. Although I have not spend using bitcoin for food, but I’ve done spending bitcoin for other things like some gadgets of my kids.

However, for now my priority is actually buying and hodling bitcoin, and saving it for our future. I’ve no plans to spend bitcoin most of the time, even if the number of entrepreneurs that accept bitcoin in my country increases. I have fiat to spend instead, while I continue saving for bitcoin.

No, I don't have experience in paying my meals in Bitcoin since it would be impractical to pay another dollar for a less than 2-dollar meal.  Instead, I use Bitcoin payment for larger transactions, like computer, computer parts, online subscriptions, and many more.

I know the first time feeling of paying for stuff with Bitcoin.  It was great that I wanted to do it all the time.

Also what country are you from? Because it sounds too gullible to believe that a food store is accepting Bitcoin payment because I don't see the need, this is why I ask which country.

Why such skepticism?  There are physical stores and restaurants that accept Bitcoin all over the world. Look at Europe on the BTC map, for example.  I live in a small town and I know of at least one restaurant and one retail chain where I can pay directly with my crypto wallet.

Paying with Bitcoin is just the same as paying with fiat money. And it was the same feeling online, like with GCash, Maya, etc. Feel no excitement about it. Paying with Bitcoin will soon be more widely adopted globally. It will give an option if all establishments accept it, just like accepting other online payment options. Your friend, OP, seems to be doing the best thing. It may not hit the people right away, but at least it is giving us a way to use our Bitcoin as a currency.

We just hope the fees will never spike like before, because if they do, that affects the adoption situation.

You know we don’t have to just focus on acquiring bitcoin and save it forever, as much as possible we should also find time to use it as a currency aside from having it as an investment. No. I have not done this but I assume it does give you a sense of pride. Especially if you have been here for a while and you have seen how bitcoin has grown over the past years. To be able to pay for mundane things like food with bitcoin is a sign of progress and adoption.

I've never paid for food with BTC, but I've paid for a lot of other things like smartphones, computers, TVs, and the like - and I have to admit that it feels good to use BTC as currency, because that's what it's meant for. Unfortunately, most of the people who invest in BTC have never bought anything or paid for a service with it, but that is still a matter of choice for each individual.

Just like you, I’ve never really used Bitcoin to pay for food either but I’ve paid for some other things like phones, gadgets and even some online services with BTC and to be honest, there’s a certain satisfaction that comes with it. Every time I make payments for goods or services with Bitcoin, it feels like I’m not just making a payment but actually living out one of the core ideas Satoshi had when he created Bitcoin which is using it as a digital currency for peer-to-peer transactions.

That little moment of sending Bitcoin no matter how small, always gives me that sense of fulfillment like I’m contributing in my own way to what Bitcoin was meant to be. Hopefully, many more people especially members of the forum who are yet to use Bitcoin in making payments joins the trend.
