This is a very good experience and the decision your friend has made is a very reasonable decision. I think if your friend can continuously accumulate Bitcoin like this, then one day your friend will achieve a lot of success that will take him to a very good level. Actually, Bitcoin is not legal in my country yet. Since Bitcoin is not legal in my country, I use Bitcoin very secretly. I never use Bitcoin openly. Well it feels nice saying it but hard to do. I have not done that before and I have not seen one who accepts Bitcoin in my locality, but apart from that, don't you think that buying food with Bitcoin will be a waste of transaction fee. Because the fee alone may be even higher than the amount you want to pay for the feeding. except this food is a food stuffs bought in a super market with a large quantity. But apart from that I will not pay for restaurants foods.

In my country recently some changes are happening which are positive for Bitcoin and crypto the government is looking for opportunities to invest in Bitcoin and crypto even though it's still in its early stages and doing well.
After a long time we can finally talk about Bitcoin freely which is a good change many food chains are now able to send items at home which is always convenient recently I had an experience where a biker brought me food and I paid him using Bitcoin because he was interested in increasing his wallet.

This was a personal transaction that worked smoothly for both of us, and it's a good thing that it works quickly now, I feel happy to be able to pay in this way in my country.

I think vendors who are also investors find it more easier to accept Bitcoin payments in their shops or store outlets  than vendors who are not investing in bitcoins.

I don’t completely buy the idea of paying my bills with Bitcoin simply because I invested in Bitcoin to hold for long period of time, then why spending it in the name of paying for food.

I believe it is a sign of support to the owner of the food canteen, but I feel it’s better he buy Bitcoin on his own to hold so that he can’t use the deposited Bitcoin into business again because it’s part of business. And if he keep accepting Bitcoin with small scale business that pays little amount of money, the love he have for Bitcoin might reduce because the market is very volatile, he can lose some money within shot period of time, that’s why I am advising him to buy and hold with the extra money he have. He should also avoid using his business money for Bitcoin investment to avoid withdrawing anytime.

I don't think I will ever feel comfortable paying my food bill with Bitcoin in a restaurant or any where because, I value Bitcoin so much that I can't use it for something as simple as food bill. Using my Bitcoin should be for something extremely important like landed property, or investing in investment property that would generate more money for me in the future, I'd rather transfer it to Fiat and use Fiat to pay for the food, I have  never ordered food or anything in Bitcoin and I don't have the intention of doing that soon.

For about four years my family has been paying for food exclusively with crypto, including Bitcoin. It feels great. It's like using something intangible to pay for something tangible. This is great, but I probably won't be able to pay for food directly with bitcoin anytime soon.  However, I often buy food with fiat money from cashing out BTC. It might feel a little different, but so far it seems like my country won't have or use Bitcoin as a payment method. At that time, there was a ban on the use of debit card for international transactions in my country and the other alternatives were not favorable because of the high fees. So I resorted to Bitcoin and since then I've been using it. Although, the ban has been lifted but I don't think I would like to use fiat again for these purpose.

Is BTC banned in your country? If it is not then it is up to merchants who are probably bitcoiners to add BTC as a payment option in their businesses, but that would depend on the demand for such option in your country and community.

However, to answer op's question, i am not sure if i have ever bought food with BTC, but i have spent some of my coins online, either paying for a service or purchasing something in an e-commerce website or application. It feels great spending BTC, but because of fiat inflation, fiat is the currency i want to spend while i hold BTC.

If people want to see more customers buying things from them with Bitcoin, they could find or create a proper global but localized marketplace for that. The marketplace should be transparent and organized for mutual exchange of products and services both online and offline, with peers.

You search for local products/services and buy them from the sellers, the marketplace algorithm will inturn recommend your products/services to them (your customers, the sellers) when they search to buy them on the marketplace. If they buy from you, you could keep buying from them, and that becomes mutual and an incentive for many local buyers and sellers to join the marketplace since there are high chances of their products/services getting bought by people they buy things from.

Even though the algorithm will encourage mutual exchange of goods and services, high reputation and high quality services will be priorized such that if you don't find the quality you want from a mutual customer a better quality mutual customer will be recommended, otherwise you get a non-mutual customer for the desired quality.
Not withstanding, a mutual trade will always be top at the algorithm priority list which could encourage mutual traders to improve on quality to get  recommended more to buyers, more than non mutual customers

Never bought food with Bitcoin, but I did buy one item online with it, and it was quite an interesting experience, as I simply had to send a certain amount of Bitcoin to the designated wallet, and then the item was delivered to my house. Even now, if I have the opportunity, I'll probably use my Bitcoin, whether to top up my e-wallet or for other purposes.

If your bitcoin is a long-term investment, it's not a good idea to spend some of it on food or anything else. Like you, I don't spend bitcoin for food or anything else, but that's also because my country's regulations prohibit it. Real-world use cases for bitcoin as a currency are prohibited in my country, but I personally prefer to spend stablecoins or altcoin on things when necessary.
