Firstly if the investment we are talking about is with Bitcoin then I will want to first draw your attention to the Bitcoin cycle which we all know  before now, I mean those who are not new to Bitcoin and have done their due diligence and understands Bitcoin has got a cycle that it follows before we notice some very completely drastic change in both the price, value and other things around it, the cycle usually spams around four to five years, within this period we have the bear market where we experience multiple crashing and they we also have the halving where miners have their reward slashed before we finally gets the bull run where Bitcoin experience high volatility and prices skyrocket to the point it usually attain a new ATH in value and price.

It depends personally on each investor but for me, I would consider 5 years as a good time for long term holding. Financial planning is very important before taking any long term decisions as it is adversely going to affect your holdings. Long time investment plan can be a circle of 4 years, it can be 10 years or more. But I mean long term investment when I do not get my expected profit. It can be 3-5x return of what I have invested. And to get such a return, I may have to wait for at least 2-5 years. Those who invested early in Bitcoin have been able to make a lot of profit in a very short time, but now the price of Bitcoin has already crossed a very big milestone, so we will have to wait a very long time to get a 2-5x return from here, and on the other hand, other Altcoins have also crossed a fairly big milestone, so we will have to wait a very long time to get a good amount of profit from them. Crypto isn't like other investments, even 6 months could be a long term. But for me, it is 4 year cycle, and anything in between that period is a long term investment. So for example, 2022 year was a bear year, if you bought in 2022 when it went down, and waited until 2025 until it peaked and sold, that was a long term investment.

But if you bought in 2024 early on, and sold early in 2025, you still made a profit and that is one long term investment as well. I believe in all of these to be long term, as long as you are not day trading. Of course one week is not a long term trading, but if you can find the entry point very well and exit point very well, there are great moments between 6 to 8 months where you can make a great return.
