What source is used to show exact Bitcoin price in the right corner?

Regarding the pricing for the Chrome extension, it was brought from CoinGecko via API:

As for the Firefox extension, it was much more difficult due to some restrictions imposed by Firefox due to its strict security policies. We encountered two issues:
The first issue relates to the CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) policy.
Sites like CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko typically do not allow access to their APIs from any origin domain—this includes extensions running in the moz-extension:// context....

When a Firefox extension attempts to send a fetch or XMLHttpRequest request to api.coinmarketcap.com, the request is rejected if the site does not send the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header allowing it.
Even if the API is open, it is often restricted to specific IP addresses or domains (such as registered websites).

The second problem is that Firefox has restrictions in recent add-ons (especially with Manifest V3) on the use of background scripts and XMLHttpRequest from backend scripts.
Even if you use fetch in a backend script, CORS requests still apply.

So we had a double whammy, but with the help of AI, I finally found a solution by fetching prices from cryptoprices.cc because it's a simple site that only returns plain text, and this type of response doesn't trigger CORS policies.

The function for fetching prices was placed in the background.js file instead of the content.js file to avoid problems.

There might be a way to fetch prices from CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko, but it would make the code somewhat complicated, so I preferred to use a simple function.

Sorry for the length, but I wanted to explain the technical issue I encountered because most people would wonder why prices aren't fetched from popular sites like CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko.

I downloaded and installed the Brave browser and checked the extension. It works perfectly without any problems. What exactly is the problem you are experiencing? Describe the problem so I can help you solve it.

Regarding this update, I haven't uploaded it to the Chrome Web Store yet. I've updated the extension, but I'm waiting for NotATether to upload the update to the Chrome Web Store. When it does, I'll post the update here in this thread.

I've updated my Google Chrome extension to include this script, which allows copying a link to a specific part of the quote, as shown in the image:




In addition, I've made some other updates:

- Added a gold Bitcoin theme, which displays gold Bitcoin colors with the Bitcoin logo in the background.
- Added a feature to change the page direction from left to right and vice versa, which is useful for Eastern languages.
- Modified the zoom functionality to a green slider.

Woo this is a nice update! I tried changing the themes! But unfortunately, most of them were uncomfortable to me, I'm sooooo used to the default theme that I can't bring myself to use any dark themes or any other themes! The only one that was less uncomfortable for me was "Dark 3"...

Btw, when refreshing the site or visiting other pages, I noticed a split second flash of default theme! Not a big deal, but it felt like someone used a camera flash all of a sudden (hurts the eyes)! Anyway, is it possible to remove this flashy thing?

For me it is! Probably because I'm not used to it. The point is, it starts to hurt my eyes after a while...

Currently at this moment, using Chrome on Windows 11. Ohh by the way, I have also used it on Firefox on RedHat Linux distro, showed the same result there!

Member Pieq made a great contribution by solving the Firefox add-on issue related to fetching prices from CoinMarket.
He modified the Firefox add-on's source code and resolved the problem. I tested the add-on and it works perfectly, and I've now uploaded the update to Mozilla.

Update 8-12-2025 Version 3.8:

I made several updates in this version:
- First, I added additional emoji symbols that appear when writing a post. They can be inserted simply by clicking on them, and the emoji appears while typing without needing to press a "View" button.

By clicking on the emoji once in the plugin, it is shown or hidden.


They can be added to the text by simply clicking on them once.

- Second, I added a feature to automatically convert Unicode and BBCode codes into emojis after adding them to the text.
This can be enabled or disabled as desired.
- Third, I changed the overall appearance of the plugin to make it look more modern and elegant.

I'd be happy to add this feature (or yhia ali can do it if he has time) but only with the approval of Royal Cap, as we'd be using his code and his idea.

It is quite simple; people have done this before with userscripts, and actually we already have a few themes, so we can just make a little text area where people can paste CSS styling rules.

Truly an amazing idea, @NotATether! I love it.

Especially since tastes differ when it comes to themes; what one person likes, another might not. This was evident in the themes you added to the extension, as they didn't appeal to many, except for Dark3. Very good!

I'll work on the idea now, God willing, and leave it to @Pieq to work on the previous update. After we finish working on the updates, we'll need you to upload them to the Chrome Web Store.😍

I have been using your tool for quite some time. And here is what I think (short review)!

1. Default: I mean it's ok, no issue. I just don't like one thing. Every text/link that is clickble is colored blue. If possible make it as @Mahiyammahi suggested.
2. Dark 1: Looked ok. No complaints here.
3. Bitcoin: The pinned post looked weird, somewhat blurry. Switch to it, you'll understand what I meant.
4. Dark 2: I wonder why isn't there anything called dark 2!
5. Dark 3: This is the one I'm using at night.
6. Green: Not sure how you designed it, but this is the most uncomfortable theme ever. I can't even navigate the forum properly, doesn't even show profile pictures or anything.
7. Light: It's the same as the forum's default one, just black lines/borders/elements are removed.

Btw, what's the purpose Pin? Never used it. I do see a small plus and minus icon, wonder what they do...
