Your friend has some consolation for not completely missing out as he was able to still get some cash, but you on the other hand missed out completely, so you certainly should have more regrets in my opinion. Just like in trading where traders keep modifying their trades and adjusting their stop loss so that even if the trade they are in changes direction, they could still end in some profits. This is how gamblers I think should act, ensuring that instead of loosing out completely, they don't get the full benefit, but at the same time, no loss.

Our emotions is the devil, we see profits right in front of our eye and we never feel like they are enough until we lose them all, its greed when you are in profit and you still never feel contented, I've make this mistakes in simple investments out of stocks and crypto but I can never make such mistakes in gambling.

Gambling f things up pretty faster, any opportunity I get I am seizing it because it won't last very long, it's true that I could make more if I risk it but I think more about if I lost it all than if I win a lot of money. If you cash out but you would have won the parlay if you did not cash out, you will feel like you are regretting that you cash out.

If you did not cash out but your mind kind of told you that you should cash out. But you lost the parley because you did not cash out, your will also feel like regretting it.

That is cash out for you. I do not like to cash out, I prefer the matches to all be played and lose than to cash out.

Making even a little bit of profit is better than not making any profit. So what is the point in regreting something that nobody could have seen coming? I have yet to meet a real psychic who can predict the future, so don't be too hard on yourself for not having the ability to see into the future.

Regret is a strong emotion that does not belong in gambling as it can cause all sorts of problems later. Especially "revenge gambling" until you lose everything.

Best to stay away from emotional triggers like regret.

Different individuals have different ways they view cash out options, as well as different experience they have with cash out options, and you can't say for sure which is best and which is worst. I've experienced both of these scenarios and even if people would say it's better to lose some than to lose all, I've also experiences the pain and regrets that comes with cashing out peanut and the game later went or ended according to your predictions, and back then I would've sworn that cashing out had far worst experience and that it would've been better to just lose everything. Well, both scenarios are painful and one can't really say for sure which is more painful or who should complain more.

Yeah you really talked with experiences because i regularly have that mindset that I should better loose it all than cash out halfway and my mind goes stronger in that decision when I recalls that the amount used to place the bet was already as set aside for the risk, so if it lost I am already prepared for it.

But on the second thought, must I have to only take profits at the top crown when the whole games has played? What about cashing out on little profits considering it as a strategy to reduce manage loses? I think this will be better because even I'd you are promised to win a multi millions dollars in an uncertainty event, someone who is in the position to cash out however little profits seem to be in better position.

What I am about to say is quite controversial. I normally bet two slips containing thesame game, one for a possible cash out and the other one I can leave till the end of the game. The idea is even if the game cuts at full time I will use the cash out slip to recover my stake and if the other slip goes through its a win-win situation.

Statistically speaking, if you play hundreds of parlays and you cash out in the middle, like 10x instead of 20x, or even in one quarter 5x instead of 20x, after hundreds and hundreds of tickets the amount won by cashing out early will converge towards the maximum amount you could have won, it might look impossible at first when you think that you could have made 1000x of a tikcet but long term that luck will come around and cashign early jus a fraction of that but multiple times will even the playfield.

Keep in mind we are talking about regret as a human feeling and emotion and thus we are touching a topic which is very relative and can change with depending on the point of view of each person.
From my point of view, both of you are in a position in which is valid to feel regret about missing out an opportunity, however you friend is likely to be feeling more regret than someone who decided not to participate at all on betting, because he was way closer to get the huge payout than anyone else, who decided it was too risky to bet as he did.

Anyways, I can only hope both of you eventually move on and learn from this experience.

The person who is triggered by greed will surely regret his decision even when winning his bet.  I believe the one who has the position is the one who let go of a huge win.  So between you and your friend, your friend has a weight on which one is in position for regret, since you, all the way go with your bet and result in losing, while your friend got half hearted and cash out missing on a huge win.  You lost only your bet while your friend lost the chance to win huge amount of money.

Despite that, your friend should move on because there is no fun in dwelling on things that can't be changed.

Best way to deal with it mentally? Insurance bet to protect you from a total loss in the last round, getting half will always be better for your feelings than losing all.

Insurance is indeed a cool feature but only few bookies offer insurance on bet while cash-out is the most common offer on parlay bet at least on most casino that I’m using.

Having an insurance on your bet is so good especially of the potential profit is too high compared to the bet amount. Securing 50% is really the best choice.

Both of you are in position of regret but I think you should feel more regretful for not wining anything atol. But the truth is that as human being we will always have the reason to complain because if you where in the position of your friend that cashed out and win little, you would still complain of not being patient to win it all. Just that we can't be certain with our decision because we might cashout and regret, and in other hands we might allow the game to play and it end in total loss. There's always a reason to feel regret in gambling. You've made a mistake and you lost money-you feel regret. You missed the opportunity for a big win-you feel regret. Gambling isn't for people, who constantly feel regrets for mistakes and missed opportunities. Just forget about it and move on.

Its a double edged sword, so there isnt right or wrong... both scenarios can lead to regret, but in a very cold-hearted way I would say this: His regret is psychological, yours is psychological but also financial... so which is worse?

Until its all over, the unpredictable can always take control and change plans, so I think you and your friends should be much more concerned with how to define rules to exit bets than with "who has more reasons to regret".
