Mystery in the uncertainty of gambling and cashout. A friend of mine is regretting why he cash out his game that was supposed to give him a historical huge winning but he cash out halfway to avoid regrets which earned him little profits but at the end the games played all.
In my own experience, i was overconfident that my games would play successfully just after the teams I had my doubts on was able to win. So I take the rest few games common and hopefully to win easily but the games cut and I lost it all even while I had the opportunity for over 70% cash out.

Since last week this incident occured, my friend had been a complaint still feeling that chances he would had made it big win if not for his cash out.
So I am to ask, between me and my friend who is in position to feel this regrets regarded that I won nothing and he made some cash out ?
Just both of you and these regrets do come. We cannot go back to the past and correct our decisions. Your friend just have to move on and forget about what he's done. He's got the money anyway and it's up to him if he has used that correctly for something else or for something more important other than gambling. Both of you have to learn from your personal experiences and it's not about who's more regret or not.

In my opinion, both of you are feeling the pain of losing, but I believe that in your case, the pain is much greater because you didn't walk away with anything, it was a complete loss. This includes losing the money you bet. While in your friend's case, he didn't lose everything. From what I understand, he managed to get the money he deposited back with some profit. Even if it was a small amount, he still made a profit.

When your friend complains, I think he's exaggerating. He should be thankful that at least by cashing out he was able to make a profit and thus be able to place more bets without spending more of his bankroll. While in your case, having lost everything, you'll have to put money from your bankroll into betting.

Regretting here isn't even a choice because you guys took your decisions and the results came according to it. At least your friend got something but you left with nothing so in that case then you may have to regret more?

No one can predict the future, so we all go with what our mind says and this is the excitement behind the gambling and when it happens to be on the right then the thrill will be on different level.

This includes losing the money you bet. While in your friend's case, he didn't lose everything. From what I understand, he managed to get the money he deposited back with some profit. When your friend complains, I think he's exaggerating. He should be thankful that at least by cashing out he was able to make a profit and thus be able to place more bets without spending more of his bankroll. While in your case, having lost everything, you'll have to put money from your bankroll into betting.

Definitely on this case, his friend should be grateful that he got some despite the possibility of winning big. Whereas, the OP lost everything, and did not have any after that loss. So in my opinion, the OP should be the one feeling such regret. However, we all know that greed is innate to humans. And so his friend wanted it all, and so the reason of him complaining about such loss having some profits on the side.

Well, both, your friend missed a bigger profit for cashing out early, while you missed a profit for not cashing out early. But you seem to be the worst off. Your friend may have missed a bigger profit, but he still made a profit, while you didn’t since you took the risk. Being content sometimes can either save you or ruin you. I’d rather take a profit and miss a bigger one than end up with nothing. Gambling won’t favor us most of the time, so if you can control your greed, just take profit.

So we are just looking at the worst scenario here and the OP got the worst one.  Grin Much better to have at least a lil bit of profit rather than nothing at all. So his friend should stop complaining, and use that profits for better purposes. Because complaining won't address any problem at hand. It will just give anxiety and stress to yourself.

From my experience, people rarely regret trying something and immediately failing, or going all in and failing. Like in your case, you just lost everything.

What your friend, and most people are regretting is missed opportunities. Fear or hesitance makes you either cut your losses immediately or not placing bets at all. Funny thing is that those things we are regretting, if the outcome would be more money for us. Even though most of the time those actions save us from losing money, there are always few times that would have made us millionaires, and we see those as missed opportunities.

That doesn't make sense, but we tend to focus on missed opportunities more then tap ourselves on the back on the times we tried and failed.

Here the statement is a bit compounded, but we have to look at their case differently irrespective that they are both gambling cases.

Case number 1: At first I would have to looking into your friends case; usually as a gambler we always Play a kind of proactiveness, like to secure what we have seen before before chasing what is about to get hooked on our network without a full assurance it would actually catch up or might change direction. So, he didn't know it would actually result to winning therefore, he has to let go as this is one thing most gamblers do face over time.

Case number 2: Then down to your cases; what actually happened is that, you never took precautions either to safe guard some of your winning or even to secure your staked amount, currently you are in a worse situation where you lose everything including your chances to cash out some amount and your staked amount. So if I must feel so pitied it should go to because you lose everything not even the amount you used in gambling but that of your friend has secured some potion of his winning.

If you don't try, there won't be any failures either, but in my opinion, that's stupid, because here you have to try something new, stumble and move on despite these falls. The main thing is not to fall too low so that you can get out painlessly later. I think professionals made a lot of mistakes before they became who they are, they just managed to survive, and not give up and stop striving for their dream. It's important not to give in to emotions too much, but try to stay calm and reasonable, although the game always tries to knock us off balance.

I think otherwise, even though his friend won something, he is sure he could have won bigger if he had not chicken out and cashed out early.  while @OP knows that he can lose anytime if he does not cash out.

When your friend complains, I think he's exaggerating. He should be thankful that at least by cashing out he was able to make a profit and thus be able to place more bets without spending more of his bankroll. While in your case, having lost everything, you'll have to put money from your bankroll into betting.

His friend's greed kicks in in and he got frustrated, but I do not think the person is exaggerating.  Anyone who missed out on a huge payout because of early cash-out can have the same reaction.  The word "if only" is very frustrating for this kind of situation, but one must learn to let go in order to continue with peace.

You both had different scenarios and regrets are inevitable so you both have a different background for regrets but its justifiable if you had more regrets since you had nothing to go home with even after experiencing some kind of excitement hoping it ends up in your court but your friend is on the run for history in his betting so it feels different having known that the goal is almost here but he had to take it halfway because he would be in more regret if he had lost immediately after not taking the cash out just like you did.

You, OP, are in the position to feel regret, not your friend. Your friend regrets not continuing the game, despite making some profit, which is no longer reasonable. This contrasts with your current situation, where you have lost out on the entire opportunity.

All of these things point out how greed ruins a gambler's day. One regret is for not pushing their greed, and one is regret for pushing it through. If not always, it is almost all the time that gamblers feel like they are in a position to regret their doing due to the perceptions of being ALWAYS right.

So I am to ask, between me and my friend who is in position to feel this regrets regarded that I won nothing and he made some cash out ?
Of course it's you. Because you had the chance but you just ignore it. While your friend made some profit although he's regretting the decision because the result is in favor to him if he continue. The result is unpredicted and luck is still a major factor. That's how it is, you'll only regret your decision if what you expected didn't happened. The reason why in gambling, if you have an opportunity to take profit, just grab it unless you're prepared regardless of the outcome.

Not the first time that we have heard this kind of story. And again, this is the pure definition of gambling as you really don't know what is the outcome and so with that you made a early cash out. And it's about normal to feel that regret, but after that, you should forget about it as it will just attract negativity in your mindset. Just go on with your lives and just think that there could be another chance in your gambling that you will have to win big and decided not to cash out.

And ask this question, what if you make the right decision to cash out then? How you guys will feel? Right, this is what we call gambling. Again, no need to regret, don't complain and just go and analyse the next game as this could be the one that will give you a windfall.

None of you. The fact that you’re into gambling already mean that you have already accepted the reality of you losing and this just happens to be one of those times when you get to lose.

I have had several experiences before, where I decide to go for the cash out option because a team wasn’t playing as I had expected them to play and at the end of the whole game they ended up winning which led me to lose the entire profits I was supposed to have realized at the whole bet. If I keep regretting things like this it means that I’m not yet ready or that I haven’t accepted the fact that I’m going to make several mistakes that would lead to me losing my bets.

It is very painful to miss a chance of winning in gambling, but when a chance is missed in gambling, it is very important to try as much as possible to just move on and not allow it to bother you. It is expected to experience uncertainty in gambling, missed opportunities, and there is no reason to feel regret because it is no one's fault. You can't tell what will happen and what the end result will be like. Some days in gambling can be bad luck, and some days can also bring good luck.

I think it is normal, and I suspect almost every gambler has cashed out during a game. Well, it might leave some regret if our gambling decisions don't go as planned, including your decision not to cash out, and making a wrong prediction. However, I don't think we need to dwell on that regret. Personally, I would consider it as a bad luck, and the best way to deal with it is to take responsibility for our decisions, which means being aware of the consequences, accepting them, and continuing to gamble responsibly. So, we can continue gambling in the next session with a sense of calm, without overthinking at anything.

You lost it all, and if there is anyone to regret anything here it should be you. Do you know that Africa proverb, “Instead of a snake to run away, you should cut its tail off”? Your friend was lucky enough to cash out and get something, even as the game later played all out that could have given him much money. But let’s look at the other side using your own experience, for example. What if the game did not play that way? He could have lost everything. Assuming you took a cash out, you could have not been here regretting or trying to compare among you two who should regret more.

It is natural for both of you to have regrets. This is not a competition. Of course you will say that he had the better situation out of the two because he was the one who was able to still walk away with at least a little bit of money but if we are to be honest, you can't really get it out of his system since he imagines the life he would have had if he did not cash out.

You both have the right to feel sad for the money lost, however what your friend feels is regret and not just sadness. He regrets being inpatient. He regrets cashing out when he did, when a huge win that could have changed his life was just staring at him, if only he just took the risk to allow everything play out before cashing out. Honestly the pain hits differently.

My only concern for your friend is that, in his next game, he would try to stay patient till the end and still disappoint himself again. Maybe this time he might miss the opportunity to cash out early.

This is gambling for you, it is unpredictable. Whatever the outcome may be, control your mind and do not let regrets ruin your personal comfort for any reason.

The option for cash was developed for a reason. Sometimes when it goes against our favour we wish we left the game for it to conclude but there are also times where we wish we cashed out before the game ended in loss, cause most  times the last game might be the ones to make you lose the entire game, this happens usually in sport betting, I don't like blaming my actions in gamble because there are lots of options to pick from and before you make up your mind to make any selection, you must have thought of other options.

Dont feel regret about cashing out. Being a position to cash out it not common in most games and doing so is a winner move. Instead if you play you may not win but you will definitely lose.

Hence cash out when you have the chance, dont keep any regrets about it. Outcomes are never known from beforehand which is why taking that correct step makes all the difference.

Previous bet does not lead the next bet. Winning one does not mean you will win the next and hence never push your luck.
