Addiction is repetitive gambling not gambling once or twice a year. Those who gamble once or twice in a long time can be categorized under irresponsible gamblers but that Addicted gambler with consistent habit is worse because their accumulative effect over a long time can be more drastic compared to those who barely gamble but gamble huge amount of money. Gambling addiction is the worst experience or thing any gambler can get themselves into at first it might seen controllable and you know what you're doing but as time goes on the quest to chasing your loses start and you end up trapped with that ideology of revenge.
Which is the worse thing that will happen to any one, which will damage their emotions and their view towards gambling, which people are ought to make sure they are gambling with the money they can afford to lose and have the understanding that its important to walk away from gambling, which is consider to be a responsible gambling.

Both methods seem unnecessary to me, because betting a small amount or a large amount every day means you are addicted to gambling; it can be called excessive addiction. Even if you gamble a small amount every day, it can gradually increase your amount when you get used to gambling. Gambling is never a good idea to do regularly, as it provides entertainment. We can gamble anytime; there is no specific time frame. I am gambling a maximum of 1-2 days weekly, especially on my weekly off day. Sometimes, due to my busy schedule, I can gamble once a month. I don't have a fixed schedule for gambling every day or on certain days. Gambling big amounts in a year seems ridiculous to me and a big risk.

Addiction is not concerned with the amount of the bet but the regularity and attitude to it. It is the habit that is hazardous in the long run. whether people are staking small or large sums per day. Being small might be a good way to gain confidence and to increase the stakes. which is how most people lose control without even knowing it. It is far safer to treat gambling as amusing entertainment. as it is. every now and then. The absence of a regular system and making it a rare occurrence is useful in keeping it in check and making it less of a habit.

You have a good point regarding the issue of occasional gambling and an actual addiction. I concur that addiction cannot be determined by the amount of one needs to gamble at a particular time but the predictability and loss of control over time. Even minor. frequent betting may accumulate to severe financial and psychological harm. Chasing losses in particular is a very perilous concept. since it forms a loop that is extremely difficult to get out of and in most cases results in bigger issues. Although any huge. infrequent losses are damaging. a habitual pattern will wear down the funds and psyche gradually. In that regard. habitual gambling is much more devastating and difficult to recuperate.

The amount to bet will depend on the financial condition of the gambler. If anyone bets beyond his ability, it becomes a large amount, and the risk increases. If the gambler gambles within his ability, can control his emotions, and does not make gambling a way of earning, then gambling will not be harmful to him. Then, even if it is a habit, it will not turn into an addiction. Sometimes, if he wants, he can also take break from gambling for a few days. That is why it is very important to always keep control on emotion .

I agree with you that we cannot really say that someone who gambles once or twice in a year is an addicted gamblers because addiction to me means consistently gambling without the control to know when to stop, in that case someone who gambles very few times in a year with amounts that is very big is irresponsible gambling because they use amount that they cannot afford to loose. Addiction is mostly about that urge to be in a casino everytime even when it's not convenient to do so you will keep going until you become addicted. The best form of gambling is using small amounts and gamblinng only when you want to and the time must be very convenient for you.

In my opinion, it all starts with our perspective on gambling only then does it lead to our emotions and those emotions will peak if we hold a misguided view such as believing that gambling is a way to make money and find it hard to accept the reality of losing, which in turn affects our emotions.

Another issue is that many people still bet with money they can’t afford to lose, and this too may stem from a misguided view of gambling from the start.

Of course the more you do it, the more likely you get addicted with it. Gambling with small bets is fine, but when you do it everyday, the amount you use over the year could just be similar with the one gambling only once or twice a year but with bigger money.

So it would look like when it comes to the overall money spent on gambling, they’ll be equal. But the amount of exposure on gambling is way different.

For the one who only gambles twice a year with huge amount, it’s more like a big risk taker rather than a gambler. Cause they’re willing to drop huge amount in one go. And then they’ll take a break for a year and will just come back again after.
