I would be surprised if there weren’t people betting on it somewhere. I personally have no interest whatsoever in this, but there must be some crossover with gamblers. Who knows though. Maybe this is the sort of thing where enough people know the winners in advance that betting would be too open to shenanigans.

If I'm not mistaken, we have one member that might be interested in this kind of betting, @bbc_reporter, correct me if I'm wrong mate.

But in my case, done are my days of watching good TV's, I'm more on the social media now. That's how I found the latest news and everything. But I still believed that there are members who might be very interested and betting on this kind of awards.

Perhaps their experience watching TV might be a big help for them on who to bet and their chances are high obvious.

Well according to polymarket it's all predictable, the winner had the highest chance probability to win from the start. But, the upset only happen in Lead Actress in a Drama, Kathy Bates who were leading suddenly drop at the day of winner announcement.

BBC sent me the news notification yesterday about a teenager that won an Emmy award, but that was the first time I heard or know about what is called Emmy award. How is it different from Oscar?

I can not see it surprising at all that people are betting on such award. Since the arrival of prediction markets like the Polymarket, people can use crypto for such prediction.

I wouldn't think that no one bet because definitely many bettors or fans would bet on it but not people like myself who are not interested on the event and without following up with the program, it would not be so simple to come up with the right possible prediction that was supposed to give you a win unless you are just the type of bettor that wants to try luck on a random thought, if you win you win and if you lose, you lose.

This is not new, all type of awarding or big events that has selection of winners or with unpredictable outcome is already now being used for betting. Even the result of pope selection is already available in the market. Almost anything is possible to bet.

No I'm not surprised. Both Emmy's and Grammy's award can be bet on. The polymarket has made it possible that we can bet on anything we think of. If they can bet on the coming on Christ why cant they bet on entertainment winner.

I know about the betting lines in different awards, but I have never tried them at all.

Simple. It's because I am not updated with television shows anymore, and my movie and series lists are mostly limited to comedy and the fictional genre.
I will just be losing money if I force betting on those awards, and I'd rather put it in sports. Still, there are those who really follow this type of betting line, and I think it's cool that they put it there.

Nothing surprises me; people bet on weather forecasts, too, so imagine if they don't bet on these things.
Among the unusual bets, my favorites are those on League of Legends championships. At least I can say I follow the games and they're exciting.
Betting on a potential artist or actor smacks too strongly of something that could be manipulated.

And it’s not easy to predict either, since even heavy favorites sometimes don’t win. Everyone cannot be aware of these award not to say of playing bet on it over the winner, it isn't like that of the UK president everyone around the world were aware of, moreover, not everyone is more interested on gambling on some of these television awards, because they don't pull crowd as the way we can have in other occasions like from the example made here.

Oscar is being awarded for the movie, while Emmys is oscar for the TV shows. Oscar is much more prestigious than emmys caused by emmys is more inclusive compared to the Oscar.
