Alcohol + Gambling = Recipe for Disaster?

I have a question. If a person is dead drunk and can barely hold a glass, then if this person makes a bet, will it be accepted by dealer or do casino even allow such person to play or be in casino? I would not like if next to me is a person that is so drunk, that he can 1) lose balance and fall down 2) interfere my gambling by talking loud, cursing and etc 3) such person can pause game (suppose he fells asleep for couple of minutes while you play poker).

Interesting question. I think if the casino had a good reputation, they might have restrained the heavily intoxicated person from betting. But we know that people under the influence of alcohol tend to be stubborn, so there's a chance he'd throw a tantrum if he wasn't allowed to bet. The casino might be more assertive and call security. Because you're right, a heavily intoxicated person might gamble without thinking about the risks, but sometimes they can make things uncomfortable.

I haven’t experienced gambling in a physical casino yet, but based on my idea — though I’m not entirely sure if I’m correct in land-based casinos, while you’re playing, I think it’s allowed to drink alcohol, right? Ask a drunkards what their experience is with everything, and their will tell you that they have never have any responsibility in their judgement since their will be under the influence of the alcohol or whatever substance that their have taken, gambling should be done with a clear mind.

Absolutely right, because they're often irresponsible people who don't care what happens to them tomorrow. I knew a businessman who successfully sold metal structures, and at some point, the business became incredibly successful. This guy would buy a car and a house, but then he decided life was boring and went to the casino.
From that moment on, I stopped recognizing him; he drank alcohol on weekdays and would risk losing half his earnings, and that was an advance from a client for work not yet completed. I broke off that friendship because he lost self-control. He saw nothing wrong with the combination of alcohol and casinos. I don't think he has a business anymore.

I haven't, I'm thinking about it right now and it definitely doesn't sound like a good idea to me, alcohol will give you this false edge making you feel like every thing is possible even when a sober head would have told you otherwise, at the end of the day you might start betting on unrealistic odd without really having a single care in the world whether or not things are going to play out in your favour, it might come with the rush of excitement but it's ultimately a recipe for disaster

I have never had the experience of gambling while being drunk but the thought of combining the two doesn't sounds good. Gambling is already risky and Alcohol which we know makes someone act out of their right mind so the chances of having a negative outcome when you combine the two is very high so I think it's a disaster.

The effect of alcohol will definitely affect your decision making, also not being in your right state of mind will make you to bet more than you can afford to lose, will make you to bet recklessly because you don't feel fear and  could easily lead to loss of control and loss of money.

I've never set foot in a physical casino either, as gambling is illegal in my country, so it's understandable that there aren't any physical casinos. There might be one somewhere, but I don't know the exact location. Even if I did, I'd probably try to visit. And while I've never been to a physical casino, it seems there are dedicated waiters who tend to areas like drinks, perhaps like the bar.
Cases like this may be common in countries where gambling is permitted, but I can't be certain.

I am completely against alcohol consumption, if a person gambles after consuming alcohol, it is even more harmful. On the one hand, alcohol will harm the body, on the other hand, if you gamble while drunk, the gambler will lose his money due to lack of good decision-making. I have never gambled while drunk, but alot of times I've not just heard stories, but I've seen people who gamble in their drunken state, and I often pity them because they are always a shadow of their real self, ive never approach such people to find out what their real experience is or was while they gambled in that state, and their experience after they had gotten over their intoxication, but I know the game doesn't end well for most of such person..

When we visit offline/physical casinos, Gambling and alcohol are brothers, most gamblers can't do without alcohol, they often will tell you that they need the alcohol so they can be able to think straight, and amazingly, there are people who will hardly win games in their normal state until they are drunk, but for most, it's often the reverse.

This is why I would always say that, it's best for gamblers to find out whats best for them and practice, and for ones that often doest sit well their system, they should avoid at all cost.

Dude drunk gambling is dangerous!  That liquid courage will make you not give a fudge about risk or consequences or anything and you just carry forth with your bets like a cheetah chasing after his dinner hungry as fudge. I personally have stopped drinking since June and not for additiction reasons or any of that but simply to help myself lose weight. So far its been one of the best decisions ive made in a long time. Do yourself a favor if you drink A LOT. STOP. You will thank yourself a few months down the road, youll have more energy. Be happier, healthier, and even have more money (quite a bit more) to gamble with for sure

A lot of people who drink and gamble, do that combination for entertainment in most cases. Often its gambling is addition to drinking, and not « they started gambling, and added alcohol». I often see how company of people drink to have fun (usual Friday evening), then they decide to gamble because its boring (and its more like an entertainment for adult) or go to casino to continue drinking and have fun. From what I a saw and hear, maybe its few cases out of 100 when person gamble and drink, and get into financial problems later. And in the rest cases people combine alcohol and gambling for entertainment.

It's really not a bad idea if one have a couuple of beers while gambling, but then he or she shouldn't overstretch their limit or drink to the point of intoxication( drunken state). Cos if they are intoxicated, it dulls one's mind from making logical decisions, thereby causing that individual to make irrational decisions....

If I'm only I'm into drinking then I might've tried this already, and also I might've lost multiple thousands of dollars into gambling as well.

I guess I'm lucky that I'm not into drinking and not that much into gambling hence, I haven't experienced what OP and most here have experienced. I'm curious on what could be the feeling of gambling while you're drunk, but I have this feeling where I might wake up the next morning and all of my Bitcoins are gone because I used it for gambling, and I don't want that to happen of course. Gambling alone especially if you can't control yourself is dangerous. Let alone drinking as well where you might lose your control of yourself because of being drunk.

On the other hand though, as much as we want to say that combining both of these is a disaster, there are some especially those who are doing it for a long time where it's becoming normal for them already to do both at the same time.

Yes, at the end of the day, as you say, have a couple of beers or even gambling a bit of money is not really affecting a person too much.

It is whatever behavior that is done repetitively the ones that are actually a potential issue.

I have gambled while drinking alcoholic drinks, including beers and hots but I am not drunk but it will just make me feel good while gambling sometimes. Just make sure you know your limit. Like me I can take at least two big bottles of beer and still gamble. If I take one bottle, it will be like I take nothing. If you can give me one full barbeque cat fish with it or goat meat pepper soup or barbecued, I will appreciate it.

Good point, drinking while gambling can't be that bad as long as you are doing it moderately....There is nothing wrong in having a little sip but it depends on what you are drinking, there are substances that are highly intoxicating, just a few shots and you might find yourself gambling wrecklessly...To be on the safe side it's better to just avoid it totally until you finish gambling...it's better to be safe than sorry

You dont need to create a problem out of nothing. Drink responsibly, gamble responsible and there will never be a problem. Cant handle emotions, easily get drunk, is in a bad mood = stay at home and avoid both. Want to do both - first try your limits and ask others to observe your behaviour and stop you when things starts to go wrong. After all, be an adult and behave appropriate.
