Snip

You can have a savings the called emergency savings but not all emergency funds can be considered as a savings. The definition depends on who is using the money and he plans to spend the money. If you have he money, save it and use it for what you think it's right, as long as it meet your obligations and what you want to use the money for, I think the purpose is serve. If you save up the money and didn't later use it for emergency but for another thing, it's yours to use anytime you want.

There was one time I was keeping some change every month from my work, I didn't have any plans to use the money but yet was keeping it when I had no plans. Guess what use the money for, have it out to a friend that needed to pay for unplanned CS in the hospital, it did help as emergency funds even though it was planned to be for savings.
That true while saving can be considered as an emergency funds there should be a level of distinction between the two. Saving is something that people do intentionally for the purpose of saving money for the sake of tomorrow or for the execution of a project in the future but emergency funds is money that is kept aside deliberately for the running of the home emergency funds can a bill pays, a hospital bill etc . Simply put it an emergency funds is money that is set aside for the purpose of unforseen circumstances.

Yes, of course, saving can be considered an emergency fund, but it's better to have two separate accounts. If savings are considered an emergency fund, that's fine, but it might be better to have two separate accounts, with one for the future and the other for emergencies that are needed at any time.

I don't think many people pay attention to this; they manage their money by simply saving and using it when they need it, whether for unexpected events or to fulfill their desires.

Keeping an emergency funds in the bank it's not a bad idea but the bankea would always have their way to deduct their charge which in turn would affect the amounts of money kept for that emergency purposes. Then having yourself borrow the money out unst a great idea cause when in dire need of it, you'll either be left stranded but one can decide to save up the funds else where it can be profitable void of those charges because emergency funds as the name implies is money set aside for emergency needs and wants . So there should be some valid space for it, something you can easily fall back to when the need be.

It is important to have money from the bank, but it has its good side and some bad side, in this case, if you keep your money in the bank, then if you take a card, you can withdraw money at any time. But here you must pay an annual or monthly charge which will be deducted from your emergency fund. Moreover, if we keep the necessary money as an emergency fund through crypto, it can be better in my opinion, especially when stable coins are kept. Moreover, there is no harm in keeping the money in the bank, it can be easily used for any necessary purpose. Although I currently keep the money in the bank as my emergency fund, when I need a lot of money, I will save it for necessary purposes.

We will face deductions when we deposit money in the bank, but is that really significant enough to worrying about? I don't know about banks in other countries but in my country the bank account maintenance fee is even less than $1/month. Is that considered too much to complain about?

If you keep your emergency fund in stablecoins, where do you store it? Centralized exchange? I think it is a bad idea because they can freeze your funds or even collapse at any time and your funds will be lost. They are no safer than banks.
Banks are still the best option for storing emergency funds, IMO.

Emergency funds are used to deal with urgent and unexpected situations. Therefore, it needs to be held as an asset that is highly liquid, stable, and available anytime, anywhere. Based on those criteria, gold is not the optimal choice because it is unstable in the short term and liquidity is not instantaneous. Bitcoin is even less suitable, and indeed, cash, bank deposits are the best options for emergency funds. We can access and use it immediately without worrying about market conditions and liquidity.
I think most people share the same point of view about emergency funds, when facing certain situations, cash and bank savings are the right choices. Both options offer convenience and can be accessed at any time. Meanwhile, gold and Bitcoin are not solutions for handling emergencies, they are more suitable as investments. We just need to manage the amount, adjusting it to the most difficult situation and unexpected we might face.

Not everyone shares our views on emergency funds. If you read the comments before us, you’ll see some people claiming that fiat loses value over time or that banking fees are an issue. They believe that keeping an emergency fund in gold will help them avoid those things.

It could be said that the reasons they give are not entirely wrong, but I disagree with that view. Because the purpose of an emergency fund is to use it in an emergency, not to maximize returns or hedge against inflation.

People are forgetting that currency devaluation is sometimes not as scary as market volatility. Inflation can cause fiat money to lose more than 10% per year but sometimes gold or bitcoin will lose more than 20-50% per year if the market goes bad.

Fiat is still the better option.

Emergency doesn't knock on the door, it happens when you least expect it. that's why you need to be prepared. To be honest, there are things we shouldn't joke with, and emergency funds are one of them. Using funds meant for emergencies is unacceptable, even if it means taking a loan. I don't even like putting it in bank because sometimes the bank might disappoint you when you need your funds. I think the best way to keep an emergency fund safe and secure is by keeping it in cash, so In case it happens, you can access it and solve your emergency.

Of course, when we talk about emergency funds, it's up to us where we want to use them. Basically, that money is just there as a safety net just in case we need something, we have funds to pull from, rather than scrambling to borrow money from different people just to get help, which is something I really want to avoid as much as possible.

Because in my opinion, it's not good to suddenly have to borrow from a bank or even a friend during an emergency. Even if we solve the immediate problem by borrowing from the bank, eventually we'll still need to resolve that debt problem with the bank.
Taking loan from bank in an emergency condition is another burden.it can give you relief immediate in short time that that's why Its better to save small amount every month. By keeping small amount you can rely on your own  saving instead of borrowing from others.  it's safe or it can prevent you from any discomfort. taking the loan from Bank safe or a very reliable source rather to take loan from any company or any relative. Because those sources sometime misuse your situation or can create problems. Many such cases reported every year. borrowing loan from bank is still reliable but on the other side banks have some rules or gives specific time if you can't pay the loan in time the interest rate increases  every month that also lead you towards more financial problem.

But the problem is that cash is bulky, and we don't always carry a lot of cash with us. That's very risky and quite inconvenient, while emergencies can happen anywhere, anytime. Furthermore, digital payments have become widespread and have been implemented and adopted almost everywhere across countries. Therefore, in my opinion, banks are still much more convenient than cash in emergency situations.

I've also seen many people worried and complaining about depositing money into banks, but honestly, I've never had any problems with them. Can you tell me exactly what you're worried about when depositing emergency funds at the bank?

This problem will be a burden that we will feel regardless of what we do. Because it is only temporary, when the time comes to cover it, it will certainly be easier for those with daily income. This is different from someone who wants to cover the loan without having an income that can be categorized as sufficient for daily needs, regardless of covering matters related to the loan.

The burden borne is actually unnecessary, even if the goal is to expand a business. However, a little advice regarding such loans is that it would be better not to borrow money. Many who have done so are certainly very difficult to cover. However, there is also a positive side for those whose businesses have already grown. This borrowing is only intended to replenish their dwindling inventory. This is necessary to avoid losses.

Some people will ask what if an emergency happens immediately I borrow out my emergency funds how will I solve it, well I will simply borrow and solve it then when I get my money back I balance things up.

So if your emergency funds have been with you for a very long time and you don't even use them, look for a 90 percent less risk business that brings profit in a very short time and invest it there.
When you have an emergency and you have already used your emergency funds for your business you can simply borrow and since it is a business that profit you in a very short period you can balance up without it affecting you financially or your Bitcoin investment, remember I said look for 90 percent less risky business.
Think about this.
The essence of saving an emergency funds is for the sake of protecting yourself from unnecessary pressure which may arise xue to situations that is beyond your control, that us why it's expected that you always keep an emergency funds in everything that you do in life and not only in investments purposes. An emergency funds should not be joked with by borrowing it out, that is not right and is not advisable to do for anyone who is thinking about investing especially in assets that may be considered volatile in nature like Bitcoin.

Borrowing your emergency funds means that you don't value your security as a person because it's not wise to borrow money from were with an interest when you would have solved your problems with the money that is in your saving account which is set aside for the purpose of emergency. if you are afraid of spending your emergency funds then you can give it to a trusted person to save for you but borrowing your money out is one thing that I don't consider as good.

There are many people who think that an emergency will never come in their life, and that is why they do not need to create an emergency fund, and this becomes their wrong decision. They do not give importance to the emergency fund and do not prepare it, so when they face a situation, they are negatively affected by it. Because they do not have enough financial resources to handle that situation, due to which they have to lose a lot in that situation. But if they had an emergency fund, then the situation would never have been so negative, so they could have overcome that situation naturally. So you have to learn to give importance to this fund first, then if you face the emergency situation and realize your mistake that why you will not make any emergency fund, but the situation will never change, so precautions should be taken before you get into a negative situation.

That's right, taking out a loan from a bank for an emergency will actually become burden that we have to bear in the future, especially if the loan is used for consumptive needs not productive needs. Nowadays many people have short planning when taking loan at the bank exactly for consumptive needed where the loan not increasing value yet but get decreasing have to spent for daily day needed, lack source income make difficult for the future exactly bank loan have heavy regulation if can't pay on time the loan interest increasing up drastically.

In my opinion, taking out a loan from a bank is not a fatal mistake depend your loan function for business and you have back up to recovery loan payment by using other income way. But if you totally loan interest payment depend on your business I think is not good ideas how if possibility your business not running well and how to pay loan interest?

Because of what someone said in a thread concerning holding your emergency funds for long term without using it, that why not invest it on something that will bring profit for you in a short period, I commented on that post and it is very important I create a thread about it here because I feel it is something of importance to Bitcoin investors.
I have an emergency funds that has been on my account for some time now and I have not touched it and the bank is taking their changes from the emergency funds, I have already decided to start lending the emergency funds out and then when those that borrowed it are paying back they are paying with interest and in other to protect my money if I'm lending you the money you most drop a sellable property that is worth that money or even worth more of that money that I can sell and recover my money when the date of repayment expires.
Because keeping my emergency funds in a bank that will be deducting my money or in the name of bank charges is something that does not make sense to me.

Interesting idea, OP. How fast can you realistically get your money back if something goes wrong? And how do you value the collateral fairly? I’m asking because a lot of people underestimate how messy lending can get

Been there myself. Didn’t touch my emergency fund for years and almost felt dumb for keeping it… until one unexpected event wiped out months of income. Having that buffer meant no panic selling, no debt, no begging banks. It’s not flashy, but it works.
It works because you've prepared for that.

That's the purpose of emergency fund and why it works. If an individual know how it feels to be in a bad situation and needed some money.

All of the relatives, families and even banks don't have a penny to lend with, this is when you'll realize and be grateful for doing this thing, saving an emergency fund.

It's true that you won't have to panic sell the Bitcoins you own or even the altcoins when that time comes.

Many people are feeling the same way and think the same way you did years ago. Most of them have never experienced any major life events, and keeping their emergency fund in the bank for too long makes them feel like they are wasting money. So they started thinking that emergency funds weren't that important, or that they should invest them elsewhere. And they think they're smart, but no, that's a stupid and wrong idea because unexpected events can happen at any time, just like what you've experienced.

With just one major event like illness, job loss, or an accident, they will immediately understand why this fund is so important. Those who underestimate the importance of emergency funds will regret it if they find themselves in that situation.

You are free to do whatever you want with your emergency funds, but you should not come and tell others what they can do with their own money they keep to save their life if something happens. If you believe you are holding your emergency find and have nothing to do with it because no emergency happened, you can lend it to others as you said or take the risk for a short term as you want.

The emergency funds should not be in your bank account either, the bank might have some issues when you need your money to solve problems, so you should keep it somewhere you can get it at any time you want. You believe you can borrow money from someone during an emergency, but you don’t know people can give unnecessary reasons about not having enough money, and you would regret why you failed to keep money for emergency.

Emergency funds exist to remove panic when life suddenly shifts. Using them for business assumes borrowing will always be easy and fast. In real emergencies access matters more than potential profit. People change their minds when pressure appears. Depending on others during urgent moments often leads to regret. Safety matters more than optimization.

Risk free business does not truly exist even in short time frames. Emergency money should stay liquid and immediately accessible. Banks have flaws but unpredictability exists everywhere. What matters is certainty of access not returns. Everyone has the right to choose how they manage their funds. But losing emergency protection for potential profit turns security into stress.

I tried something similar years back, lending idle cash short term. It worked fine until one borrower delayed payment during a period I urgently needed cash. That single incident wiped out all the small interest gains I had made. Since then, I keep my emergency fund boring and liquid.

That's th beauty of having that kind of emergency funds, you don't need to worry yourself where to find the amount to cover your need, and like what you both mentioned, it lessen the stress which already been present when situation like this happen to you, but because you have that funding that can cover your needs then you can say to yourself I can survive and I will continue to move forward, just needed to rework again with your emergency funds and start saving again.

I think it's not a good idea to use emergency funds for anything, even if it's an investment opportunity and you believe you are going to get good returns on it, it's still not a good idea because the purpose of emergency funds is to be available at all times, because emergencies come uninvited and you won't have enough time to arrange funds at all times, which is why we should always keep our emergency funds handy, so that if we face such a situation, we should have cash available at disposal and we don't need to liquidate something we own only to get some funds that we can use.

Nowadays, a lot of people make the mistake of investing their emergency funds or savings into cryptocurrencies, only because they believe they are going to get some returns from the investment instead of keeping the funds idle, but that shouldn't be done, because if the market goes down after you invest the money, then you will either have to wait until it goes back up, or you will need to sell your assets at a loss if you face an emergency and can't arrange funds from elsewhere.

I understand your point but emergency funds should be readily accessible. If you lend them out or invest, you might not be able to access the money quickly when an urgent situation arises. A smarter approach is to set aside some cash for emergencies and use the remaining  funds for low risk investments. This way you won't find yourself in a tough spot when unexpected things happen.
