there is a new Bitcoin wallet called Layerz, which is only about 2 months old (young), non-custodial and available for Android and iOS
this is of course still in the development phase and there is currently a 1.2.0 alpha version that can be downloaded from the following github link: https://github.com/layerztec/layerzwallet/releases/tag/v1.2.0
you can find more info on the official homepage or read the linked blog entry here: https://layerzwallet.com/blog/hello-world-meet-layerz-wallet

as i already saw here today, there is a new forum user who also calls himself LayerzWallet - most likely it is someone from the own team
who also opened the following thread which is indirectly about Layerz Wallet: Ark vs. Spark: Which Layer 2 Will Define Bitcoin Wallets in 2026?

On GitHub, I can see that it is an open source wallet. But I do not know how to check the code myself if truly it is open source or not. Is it fully open source?

The wallet has many support for bitcoin layer 2 like the lightning and the liquid network which are the two commonest among them. I can also see others like Ark, Spark, Botanix, Rootstock which I did not know they are existing. If the wallet is open source, it will be a good wallet.

First time I heard about Layerz wallet here, but I see it is still in early alpha stages of development.
I guess it's nice to have another wallet that supports Liquid assets, but I don't care much about all other bitcoin second layers, unless they create a privacy based layer.
Swaps between layers is not bad, but I am not sure there will be enough volume and demand for that.

there seems to be a trend where bitcoin holders want "use" their bitcoin and layers like botanix / citrea etc seem to be taking this direction to make bitcoin more useful in defi scenarios

Yep. 100% open source from day 1

We have also just updated with bitcoin based USDT layer, furthermore there is support for testnets too (ie. Citrea)

Nice info.

Mobile Bitcoin wallets are essential today due to their ease of use. It is hoped that wallets will evolve into two versions: a simple version and a professional version. This is similar to how exchanges offer these features.

The simple version can be used for simple transactions, while the professional version can be used for bulk transfers and other transactions.

I apologize if my advice isn't quite right, as I'm still a beginner, and I find non-custodial wallets somewhat monotonous, while exchanges are becoming increasingly attractive. Of course, non-custodial wallets may not be as profitable as exchanges, but I hope this platform can find sufficient funding to continue developing its app

The last one I think you posted about which was bull bitcoin was ok but I didn't really like it especially when I noticed they had a form of importation for those that stored their keys or seed on something like Google drive. Probably it's because they are still in the beta phase but I just want to believe the wallet would be better off as a hot wallet than a cold one.

Some kind of similar vibe is also what I'm getting off this particular one too though I haven't tried it out yet but I eventually will too.

The wallet has many support for bitcoin layer 2 like the lightning and the liquid network which are the two commonest among them. I can also see others like Ark, Spark, Botanix, Rootstock which I did not know they are existing. If the wallet is open source, it will be a good wallet.
Yeah most open source wallets are nice but it will be difficult for me to prefer them over Electrum.

Stacks is now available in the ALPHA release of LayerzWallet both on Android and iOS.

We are currently working on token discovery, App Explorer and NFT viewer, which we aim to release in the next week or so. Furthermore we are doing some poolishing and bug fixes but likely to announce production launch for December 1st soon!

Let us know what you think!

Will you continue to use this thread to post updates? Why not make an ANN thread with better introduction posts if you plan to be active on this forum? A lot of businesses do that here. I don't think having a dedicated thread (unlike your previous ARK vs Spark one) is a bad idea either.

Thanks, that's the right idea, we plan on doing this when we release the production version in December, for now we still in alpha so its testing only and our resources for marketing are non existent so we don't want to do an official thread yet if we cant guarantee that we will have the resource to monitor it. (also we had to start a new account and needed to get the profile warmed up before posting an official thread- but ultimately you are right and we will do that !)

LayerzWallet,

I really liked that it is possible to import a wallet not only using a seed phrase, but also directly using a private key. There is no need to think about whether the derivation path will be compatible.

However, I still used a seed phrase. I took the seed phrase that I use in the Aqua wallet. I have a small amount of sats there on the main network and a small amount on the Liquid network. The Layerz wallet recognized my sats on the main network without any issues, but it did not see the sats on the Liquid network. Is there any way to fix this?

And one more question. Is an LNAddress of the form spark1....@layerz.me a permanent address? From the interface it looks like usernames are planned to be introduced in the future. After choosing a username, will the old address that the wallet is showing me now remain active?

That could be a derivation path issue. Layerz Wallet and Aqua Wallet use the same derivation path for on-chain bitcoin, but the derivation path for Liquid bitcoin and tokens could be different. If you take a look at the following support document, it states that Aqua Wallet uses BIP49 for liquid assets. That should be m/49'/0'/0' in Aqua Wallet. If Layerz Wallet's default is something else, it would recover an empty wallet for liquid assets.

I suggest you check all settings in your Layerz Wallet and see if you can find a way to change and scan different derivation paths. Also, ask their support (if they have one) for help regarding the matter. If you can't get it to work with Layerz Wallet, you will probably have more luck with the Blockstream App.

Thanks for Reaching out! Ive asked the engineers regarding your first issue and will have a response for you later today.

Regarding the LN address, you can claim a username now and yes the old address will still work, we are also working on the ability for you to receive messages on this address ie. a receipt for a payment etc etc or user to users msgs

Aqua uses wrapped segwit ( address starts with the VJL )
We use Breez SDK for liquid, it uses native segwit ( starts with lq1 )
Couldn't find an option in Breez SDK to scan wrapped segwit, looks like it is not possible with the tools we have now, but we will add this requirement to the to-do list

Regarding the LN address, you can claim a username now
What is required for this? I tapped the "Claim username!" button in version 1.3.0 for Android, but received a notification saying this feature is not implemented yet. I also don't see any newer releases on GitHub so far.

That's an older build - Android production version is available on Playstore. I will nudge the team to update the latest apk on github too if you prefer installing from APK. (there are constant updates happening so not all releases are published on Github as APKs cause the team need to do this manually)

The latest android build v1.3.0 (build 343) definitely lets you select a username. The workaround would be for you to go to Layerz.me and use the same seed to claim the name there, but with a bit of luck we can get you the latest APK on GitHub by tomorrow!

Will you continue to use this thread to post updates? Why not make an ANN thread with better introduction posts if you plan to be active on this forum? A lot of businesses do that here. I don't think having a dedicated thread (unlike your previous ARK vs Spark one) is a bad idea either.
