Sometimes it feels like no matter how much we earn, the cost of living keeps climbing faster. Food, rent, electricity, even transportation, everything seems to demand a bigger slice of the paycheck. People are spending more hours working, but what they can afford with that work keeps shrinking.

I feel the same way. Sometimes it feels like we’re just going in circles. Even when we manage to grow professionally and get a better salary, it still seems impossible to reach a point of balance. We always have to keep running harder and harder just to maintain the same standard of living. That’s inflation. Inflation is completely eating away at our purchasing power year after year. But after the pandemic, things started moving much faster. There’s not much we can do, just keep running in this endless chase for money. At least we have Bitcoin to ease it a bit,  without it, the world would be much worse

In economic difficulties like the one we're in now, class differences start to become more apparent. If you don't have inherited wealth, no matter what you do or how hard you work, it's never enough. You always need more. It's impossible to move up in class, even meeting your basic survival needs is becoming harder day by day. There are millions of people who feel the same way as you because this is the reality of life.

Some people are really in this life just living in others to be working since their work are not actually able to foot all their bills and keep them going. Rather, it's earnings that is just able to sustain them in other to survive the next phase of trying to be productive for someone who will still end up paying them less than what they can barely use to survive with.

With the way inflation is rising and minimum wagers not actually meeting up to daily needs to survive in such a situation, one just needs to step up their game, look for something really at their time and work smart rather than just work hard in another to secure something which will be worth meeting up with their demand and still have something left in rather than rotating around one place.

Survival is at stake. If we don’t work, there can be no means to survive, but will end up with hungry stomach. Even those rich and wealthy men, they still prioritize their work in order to create more productivity and progress, to gain more riches and wealth eventually.

However, considering living to work, I think that creates no difference with the first one. We just have to keep things going by working and investing at the same time, so that we will live more positively than living in regrets and poverty.

The goal was to work to live a better life but now the economy has taken a different turn...people who used to be okay with what they are earning are now complaining because it doesn't seem to be enough, this is how bad the economy has gotten...we aren't living to work either that's the reason why we must work on becoming self employed so we don't waste your valuable time working for someone forever.

We are designed to work and not procrastinate. We need to find work that we love, so it won’t be a burden. If we do what we love, then it’s not working anymore.
In a world where we need to sustain our needs, we must work to live. This is why we need to find our true vocation, so we do not end up working in boredom.
For someone who has found his vocation, he is working to live, while someone who just wants to go to work for the sake of work is living to work.

We are just working to live because what we are making can barely see us through the days. The system has been designed in such a way that you just have to earn what will be able to feed you. If not that humans were wired in such a way that we have to eat everyday most people would have given up on the idea of working. It makes no sense to work so hard and earning so little. Reality hits that if we stop working, living life would not be that meaningful and productive at all, unless if you stop working because you have to focus on a highly potential business or investment. That would be a very good decision then as you have all the management and control to create a greener pasture for you and your family.

However, we cannot deny that working is already part of our lives. Even when we are in our own business, we still work on it 24/7 so that success will be highly guaranteed. It’s just that, all people need to work either for a company or your own self, to experience life’s financial success and stability.

The treadmill feeling isn't a character flaw, it's a unit-of-account problem. When the thing you're paid in is engineered to lose purchasing power, productivity gains bleed out as higher asset prices and you run in place pretending it's progress.

It's true, living costs are increasing too fast, and we end having a hard time thriving in a society where to survive is the maximum most people achieve doing. However, I keep for myself that or you thrive, or you die trying. For me it makes no sense to fall in a comfort zone where you get used to the mediocrity of earning 100$ and spending the whole 100$ on basic expenses, without any perspectives of growing on long run.

If after all, I'm living to work, at least I'm doing this in an attempt to pursue something else in the future, instead of giving up and resigning.

Even the people who inherited wealth from their parents still try to make an effort to add more wealth to the one they already so as to sustain the inherited wealth. Every man still need more money to keep life going, thing are really getting hard day by day so if we don't put more effort and work more harder it will hard to put food on the table, the economy isn't what we see before things changes very fast it's just like the adage that says no food for lazy man i will say we are actually working to survive not even to live.

You can simply fight the inflation by putting it into a hedge against inflation, no? such as gold or even bitcoin.

People who put their money in bitcoin a year ago already multiplying it, if you put it into gold you easily outperform inflation by significant margin.

The inflation is only problem for people who are financial illiterate, e.g just using money to buy consumtive things and never try to hedge.

There's no way we are living to work, it would be actually sad if anyone's life is like that. There are people that don't have time for themselves, all they do is work and they don't even make good amounts of money. Depending on one source of income can get you frustrated with life especially now that the economy has different turn, you can be hardworking and still have nothing to show for I'd you don't think out of the box

We are living to work and earn, and we are earning to live. Actually, we are in an era where we need to double up our sources of income. Things are not easy anymore; the global economy is affecting our earnings and also affecting our lives as well, because we must work for our earnings to survive in this harsh economy. Most people are working to live.

From poor to rich people, they're still working to live. The rich are still need to work because if they make a mistake, it would cost them a lot and they might go down from rich to middle class. Only people who already have a system are living to work, they have more choice to work on the field that earn high or the thing they like.

Almost all people can't achieve financial freedom because financial freedom require a high income source which stable every month, not just the total investment. Even you have a lot investment, but you didn't earn much from that, in the long run your class will go down.

That is  simply because they have no alternative aside the job, so what did you expect, put yourself in there shoes did you mean you're going to quit from the job since they're not paying a decent amount and just sit at home doing nothing when you still have responsibility to take care of? I'm sure you wouldn't want to do that so the same way that those people don't also want to lose it unless they have look for a replacement.

So the question remains: are we really working to live… or just living to work?

Of course I'm sure that our main purpose of working is in order to meet up with our bills and also provide our families with thier needs, we are not just living to work. Even though some people may not be earning a decent amount in thier job but no matter how small it's I'm sure that it will be enough to cover thier expenses and still remain some leftover of which is more than enough for some people especially those who are coming from under develop countries.

Sadly, the majority of us are in both situation. No matter what the choice is, it seems like a trap in the rat race. That even just like what you have said, we work hard and yet there's nothing left from our salaries because of how price of commodities are increasing almost everyday. In the US, there are studies about that many of them can't even afford to have their own house so they rent, and most likely that rent is eating from 30%-60% of their household income monthly.
