Is sports betting a effective way to involved people in sports? Or it is just part of the many ways on how people will eventually be falling into gambling?

We as sports fans, maybe we all started as a kid, maybe dream of playing in big league in soccer. However, not everyone can be in sports so the next big thing is become a fan of it and follow it will all our hearts in emotions.

However, do you agree that it can also lead to gambling problems later on in life as we're going to bet on the sports that we follow. Like small bets in the beginning and then later on we become so addicted to it?

You can like sport and not betting, but also there are some bettors that do not really know about sport but they are just using it to bet. But also are some people that know about sport and they use it to bet.

I first typed that for you to know that addiction has to do more with someone with greed and not because the person know about sport but because the person have greedy nature.

Do you know that there are many leagues with matches and many matches that people are betting on that they are not watching the matches? Many people go for parlay but they may only watch one match from it or not watch any.

It's not etch in stone in my opinion. There are people that I know that love sports but don't gamble. But majority could be that once they hit the right age that they can gamble, the first time that they will go is the obvious sports that they love. But it doesn't mean that they are going to be addict or what. Not to be judgmental, maybe they just love that sport and bet on their teams and watch the fight with friends on TV or even at home with bbq and drinks. So yeah, you could involved yourself in sports but not necessarily involved in gambling in some case.

I believe that professional gamblers can bet without liking sports
However, I don't know anyone who bets and doesn't like the sport they are betting on

I find it difficult for someone to start liking a sport by starting with betting
The person may start watching the games, but it must be more for the thrill of betting than anything else

I don't think that could happen if a sports fan is just betting for added flavor while watching the game. And I believe many sports fans are doing this and not going overboard with their bets. Just enough to make the game more exciting while we watch them live.

Maybe it could happen to someone who is a hardcore fan of a team. I have never been one after Michael Jordan left the Chicago Bulls. Others love football so much that they will put a huge chunk of their money betting on the team they love. I think this is wrong, and it's not supporting the team either way. It's just for self-interest, and the worst part is if they lose that money. It can become addictive if they are forced to chase the losses.

Sports fans will be sports fan. However, there could be something that will trigger them to bet on the sports their follow, meaning someone will have to influence them and not necessarily that it will start from within when they involved themselves into sports.

So it will really be good for everyone to involved ourselves in sports as young as we can. And sports really will teach us a lot of lessons that we can bring into our lives. But it doesn't mean that all of us will turn into a sports bettor when we mature.

I have seen someone that bet on a match before and fainted while watching the match. It was later that it was found out that he bet high amount of money on the match that makes him fainted. Although some people will bet small amount of money, but watching a match while losing is not flavouring at all.

Sports betting is  not an effective way to get people involved in sports. I know many people who are die-hard football fans for different clubs but they will not bet. There are many ways to get involved in sports and in my estimation, sports betting is just not part of it. When you even go on to ask those who bet on for a sports like football if they are doing it for the love of the sports or their clubs most of the replies you will get will be negative. Some of them don't even bet on their clubs because they know that they have to separate sentiments from reality.

Your personality type is what makes you an addict, not the action. If you have the addictive personality and you gamble you likely will continue to gamble and eventually lose your house, but that doesn't mean everyone who has gambled once is going to end up addicted. There are people who made 1 bet in their life and just stopped. Maybe they lost and didn't want to risk their finances, maybe they won and felt bad, or whatever. The point is, not everyone becomes and addict.

Sportsbetting is however a way to get users interested in a certain sport. Chances are you will want to learn about the sport you are betting if you are going to make a wager.

I don't really agree with what you said but yeah, it could lead to gambling problems, but this will depend from person to person. as we all know there are a lot of people who like sports who never get into gambling and there are also a lot of people who like sports that get into gambling.

At first I was going to say "Nah, it doesn't work like that.", but then I thought, why, people are different. For some of them, if you bet all your life of football, watch the games you placed your bet on sometimes, then 20-30 years later you might wonder "What the hell is this game about?". I don't think so, I was already playing football for over 6 years as a teenager getting hooked up in sports betting. In fact the reason I got into sports betting was to increase income which was the wrong orientation spread widely back then.

A good percentage of those who go into sports betting would get addicted as they turn to gambling in their favorite spots. Most of those who practice gambling in moderation are the ones who have been addicted before and got over it, sometimes the newbies don't really get to understand the demerits of excessive gambling and they always want to spice things up until they're caught up by addiction.

You're right, without discipline which is rarely found in new gamblers, it would lead them to addiction.

Not really, because any gambler can just decide looking that angle maybe just for a quick cash out in soughting out one or two bills that might puff up, however their are some other folks that are naturally in because the passion and drive for sports betting is intact. Yeah I think sports betting can definitely get people more into the sport they follow, especially if they already enjoy watching it. Having a bit of money on the line just makes every goal, point or round feel more intense.

But I’ve also seen the other side of it. Some people stop caring about the actual game and only focus on the odds or their ticket. That’s when it stops being about passion and just turns into gambling. So I’d say betting does involve people more in sports, but not always in a healthy way.

I don't think I know any football sports bettor who is not fully involved in the game. Even the kids I see around the physical betting shop are all football fans. The issue is that you would have to gain knowledge about sports before you start gambling. And with the high rate of gambling promotion that happens during sports games, there is a high possibility that it could attract viewers or fans to gambling. When some of these influential sports stars endorse a casino, it would definitely attract people to gambling.

We would have to do research to certainly determine if this process could lead to gambling addiction. Gambling addiction has been in existence even before sports betting became popular. Many factors other than being active in sports lead to addiction. My take is that greed contributes more to addiction than following sports.

I guess I can say yes, because before I started betting I didn’t even know any players in UEFA. But now that I place bets on leagues like the EPL, UCL, and EFL, I’ve become more familiar with the players, the teams and how the football sport league really works.

Also yeah, I’ve become a fan of some players like Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer.

Sports betting It's not what guarantees people to get involved in sports, I think the reverse is the case and rather the love of sports has made individuals get involved with some activities to keep their spirit and fun alive and on that they get involved with betting and gambling  but then what lead to addictions is a due to a failed gambling activities and betting system.

I consider sport betting as not a way to lure people into sport. Rather, it's something that's offered to sport lovers to have a way to test their prediction skills, but it's not a must that someone who is a lover of a particular team should always bet in favor of that team, that's different between being a bettor and being a fan only, sport betting can make the person to put more effort and more time in following up sport games more than they could have ordinarily done if there was no interest in betting on that game.

It works both way, it makes peolple involved in sports while at the same time making them engage to gambling activities since sports betting itself is gambling.

I agree that sports betting can lead to gambling problems since I also believe that exposure to any kind of gambling activity can create a possibility to gambling addiction.  So while we are still in command of our gambling activities, we should keep ourselves as responsible gamblers and never let greed and desires of huge win engulf us.
