Honestly, I can’t say I love my job 100% because it’s quite stressful but I love the outcome of it, and it benefits me a lot and my family as well, so although I don’t seem to like it wholeheartedly but I think I’m gonna stay because it made my life better and more fulfilling compared to my previous jobs.

I'd like to ask what happens if someone has no choice and is forced to love their job to earn money for their family's daily needs. They have no choice but to stay because leaving their job doesn't guarantee finding another job. I think there is truth in both of these statements. Peace of mind is very important, but if it comes at the cost of financial instability then in the end that peace will not last. If a low paying job really satisfies you then it is okay in the short term but in the long term if there is no financial improvement it will limit your freedom. On the other hand, if a high paying job also increases daily mental stress then it will gradually exhaust you. So I would say finding balance at every stage of life is the key. First peace of mind then gradually finding opportunities according to your own value this is the most sustainable path.

Here is my experience: I had a love affair with my first job. Then I became jaded and began to hate my work.
However, after four years of early retirement and immigration, my love for work was rekindled.

Let me break it down:

The reason that I liked my first job:
I just ended my life as a student, when I was financially dependent on my parents, and the job offered me a certain sense of freedom—both financial and personal. The company was a four-person startup with a friendly, homey atmosphere, and I didn’t feel the kind of excessive hierarchy I would encounter later in my career.

The reason that I disliked my later jobs:
Deprivation of agency - I couldn’t pursue what I believed was right for the company, nor could I refuse the meaningless tasks that defined my performance metrics. That contradiction led inevitably to burnout.

The reason that I wanted to go back to work again:
Money is far secondary—I was fairly early in Bitcoin (late 2013), so even a good salary in a rich country no longer moves the needle on my net worth. But I need something to introduce myself with, rather than being seen as a mysterious rich foreigner.

Being on a job that pays a below average income definitely limits ones economic growth. Not with the steadily increasing rising cost of goods and services. I think what the person you replied to was trying to say was a not so materialistic individual can easily settle and even be happy with an average paying income that can easily meet all the needs if only the job has a conducive working environment. For some, the urge to make more and more money to increase the standard of living isn't priority.

Mental peace, though associated with financial stability, doesn't necessarily mean you've got to be rich to be mentally at peace. You can have all your needs met, be mentally at peace and still not be rich.
