I've heard a couple of times were people say a match is fixed to fauster peace between communities.  Players come together and play locally have fun and close.
Does sporting activities really play a role of bring peace to communities or even nations? If yes kindly state some ways it plays that. 
Or do they just play these games just first the fun of the games and leave?

To me it brings two countries together because of not for the game many community or countries will think we are fighting with them getting to marry from each other community we be a big problem,but during those kind of match you will see both communities coming together gets married together that's the peace it brings but it doesn't naturally bring heatred but good understanding in the nation or communities,even if their is issue that came out within that period it will definitely be resolved in peace as brothers

If you are talking about football as a sports of interest, it is 100% true that it serves as a means of uniting communities that are not even in good terms. even when we look at it from the standpoint of just the regular one or two persons that are not in good terms, do you know that if such individual plays together in same team that they can even hug themselves unnoticed if their team is winning? that is part of the beauty of the game.

a country might be facing serious issues that seems to divide them but at the same time when their national team is playing in a major tournament, they will collectively pull their weight behind the team and suddenly unite as one happy family. sports indeed is a good unifying factor that brings an high sense of unity to a nation.

Well, I don't see how it brings peace to a community but it's just for competition sake and also to support players, there's a company in my country, after every 4 years they would sponsor a football competition for all the villages in our local government, any village that there football team wins will receive a great reward and they do this just to support sports actives, I do not think the football competitions are usually rigged but sometimes it results to fight and disagreement among the some villages, so I won't really say in brings peace.

Sports have always been a bridge that unites people beyond politics or borders. Shared passion can calm tensions and build mutual respect, even rival nations connect through fair play. Gambling linked to sports should also encourage discipline and sportsmanship, not chaos.

I don't know what you mean by fixed matches, cheating? Because if you're referring to friendly matches, or non-professional games intended more for entertainment, then it's a unifying experience.

Some sports may be more friendly than others, but if they bring peace, I suppose events like the Olympics can unify people. But in another context, for example, the rivalry of football in some countries, instead of bringing peace, brings discord and a hostile atmosphere among fans. But this is part of the lore of the match and the surroundings of the stadium; after that, life goes on normally.

What I know is that during the time of football hosting or tournament, there is low incidence of criminal activities in different parts of the country which means that even bad guys use such time to enjoy the trills of the game of soccer. Hosting the game of soccer is possible to bring people together in difficult times and fighting but whether it is a lasting solution is what I can't give an assurance to but surely for the temporal purpose, it works. Also in the family where the spouse are football lovers, it is capable of bringing them together if they are having internal fight.

Here in my country, the main football league was bankrupt; they needed a lot of money to keep the league games going. So, many betting houses and casinos in my country sponsored the league, and that's how we have league games. On weekends when there are games, young people, old people, women go to the stadiums to watch the games, and they laugh, shout to support their teams.


At the end of the day, they leave the stadium talking about what happened during the game. So it's fair to say that thanks to gambling, those people can watch the games and have fun; the players and coaches can also gamble thanks to gambling. Now, if someone were manipulating the games, it could harm the league, the gambling sites, and that would take away the joy of those people.

No gambling involved? Yes, it can bring peace. Well, as long as both parties are truly a sport.

Sportsmanship is something that is easily attained because you build something against your opponents, and somehow you see both sides of how it's fun to play the game.
I played basketball for a very long time against different players. Some I knew, some I didn't. At the end of the match we shake hands, when we see each other on the streets after the match, we become friends who gives respect to each other.
Sports has some deep connection to other people and it can easily be attained when you play with each other.

If there is a situation between two persons, group of people, or countries. Relations are strained. Sport will never solve it or bring peace. Because in a competition, there is always winner or looser. Sport even can end with a draw, but players, spectators, people, will always think that they won. Maybe in movies it is possible to solve something with a match or a fight, in real life that does not work. If I disagree with something, and then lose in sport against a person with whom I disagree, that definitely not going to solve anything. Maybe even get worse.

Yes, sports are considered a gateway for peace among states and communities, but it's not a magical bullet that can definitely hit the target. It depends on how the sport is structured and the context in which the games are played. In the contexts of Pakistan and India, it is not working, instead, it is bringing more space and hate among people. The matches are not organized for peace but to win the match and take revenge, which fails the peace process through sports.

When people from different backgrounds come together to play sports, they could transcend political & religious divides. you could see international competitions like as the World Cup or the Olympics see people from different countries come in concert , sharing joy regardless of their different opinions. Looking at the local level, a friendly game not only helps to reduce tensions but also deepens national & social ties

Just like every other sporting activities,  football is one game that is not about winning but about the game and how yhe teams plays together and have competitive time there after attaining some winnings,  but emphasis in this regards is in the fun knnthe game, so yes i have been involved in such community games.

Most times we do it during celebrations like xmass period.

Another thing is that at the end of the day there is always a meeting such as political and other settlement between the two communities.

To be sincere, Sports have broken the chain of racism and religious boundaries a lot of times. Not only sports, I believe it's almost everything that has to do with entertainment, and outdoor activities that have played a huge role in bringing people of different ethnicities and beliefs together. However, there are also situations where it causes fights between cities, fans, and countries. This is why we have organizations like FIFA, FIBA, etc, whose duty is to create rules and regulations that will prevent, manage, and also develop the sports activities.

Oh wow. So these organisations are made to enforce laws as well.  I had not taught it in that light Aside the fact that they organise matches and alot more of their functions. Also I know that on a normal day some people select individuals   because of their ethnic groups and  tribes but this thing of sports mixes up people in clusters and groups    that they have to form a team and certainly I know that they'll have no option than to mix well and work in collaboration as team members even if not for his own interest but for the benefit or interest of the team success.

I rather see sports and sport betting as a form of distraction to keep people away from thinking about national problems and national tragedies. That is something I have personally seen here in Venezuela.
We live in a very corrupt country, dominated by kleptocrats and bad people in power and yet, people who wish to keep themselves away from thinking all the time about those problems decide to pick up sports and sport betting as their way to escape reality.

In the worst case scenario, there will be people who will choose to dive into other activities to fog their counciousness, like drinking alcohol, taking drugs or other things which are not proper in the long term to solve problems.
Nevertheless, It could be possible for some government within the third world to fix matches in order (not only to make money) but also keep the political temperature between regions down. I would not be the craziest thing I have seen on the internet, that is for sure.

Actually, sport is a game of fun. Even in my local area we normally host a football competition with other street guys. Most of the times nothing is given to the players but we all are happy because of the fun as everyone want to win, even those who lost will want to continue later just so they could win. Although, during the festive season which is around the corner there will be another competition between communities. It's really a big one and I wouldn't want to miss it for any reason unless I have something more important to do. But I won't miss the game when my street will be playing. However, sport game really brings peace and entertainments to the community.

Yeah, i think sports can be and has been used to foster peace and understanding amongst two or more countries or even internally, inside a country. Sports is an activity that people have been entertained by, enjoy watching and participating in irrespective of their gender creed or where they come from. People can actually come together and share in their excitement of the game without any political and racial tensions in mind.
They do not just play these games for the fun of it. Perhaps it might also be good optics as well but it doesn't negate the fact that it does help in easing tensions which can in turn lead to future negotiations in good faith that could in turn, yield positive results.

It is an undisputed fact how sports helps to unify a country or region who are having or facing serious disputes.
I used to remember when I was young and how myself and one of my friends who had been quarrelling, settled after we played on same sides against an opposing team. We somehow found ourselves laughing and clapping hands during the '90 and after the match we walked home together. No one mentioned or even remembered we were quarrelling.

This is how it is in real life sporting events hosted or played to secure national peace.

In my country, it is through sports like soccer that bring everyone together irrespective of their ethnicity and religion. Everyone will drum their support for our national team to win their crucial matches. If they win everyone is happy. If they lose we feel bad about it

these athletes play sports for a living so they just do not play for the fun of it but also for profit and for their livelihood

but sports actually also help the country to boost their tourism when a country is particularly known for being good at a sport others will be aware of that country and may even be interested to visit

Well, I don't see how it brings peace to a community

Many of community clashes and disagreements between people and communities is as a result of them viewing themselves as different from one another, on the platform of sports, that is identifying a game that both communities can enjoy, It can prove that they are not so different from each other since they both enjoy the same sports. If communities identify that they are not so different from each other, it could bring the platform for them to seek more ways in which they are alike. Sports is not the final solution to bring peace, but it can be a headway to it.
