Where do you hear this nonsense? Being part of a lie in this context is not anything noble or honorable, you are claiming that people play poorly in order to make others feel better about themselves. That is not the spirit of competition and just creates a race to the bottom. Any true sports player wants to know that they are playing at a certain standard, ideally improving by playing against better players, so fixing a match just makes them even weaker - even if they don't know about it. It has nothing to do with peace, if one side pretends to be worse than they really are and is likely to do even more damage to the communities or relations later on if this was ever discovered. Take your junk suggestions elsewhere.

I worked at a factory, and they used to organize mini-football tournaments and other sports events. We played on weekends, and it was a great chance to meet colleagues from neighboring workshops and just have a good time. It really brought people together — they got to know each other better and made friends. So yeah, you could probably say that sport plays a role in building peace.

Maybe there's an efficacy of what that saying actually means cause just as we hear friendly match it's a medium to that brings two different people in harmony, so then i may strongly agree to that because when you undergo such sports you express your excitement and renew the bond you have or better still create a bond with other countries or communities that are into the games. They play for fun, meet new people and get connected.

In my place, football is one of the best sports that brings people together. Friendly matches are mostly organized between people of different communities, this helps to create more bond of friendship and mutual trust, friendships between each other in the communities. No sport beats football to that and I’ll boldly say they football enhance national peace and if such activities of playing matches for peace to reign is organised, we will have less dispute between people most especially those in the same jurisdiction or country. It is said that if you go to a new place and you’re looking to make new friends, look for where the community meets and play football and you’ll get to make new friends immediately, that’s the power of football.

Actually, if two clubs or nations are rivals, the most likely outcome is that the match is going to end in a brawl among both crowds. The losers usually don't accept the loss, so they get enraged and start rioting everything around, until the other side gets involved exchanging insults and provocations. In some cases, people die in such brawls and police forces have to use physical strength and arrestments to stop the chaos.

Nowadays it's not so frequent like it used to be in previous decades, but since the world is getting more hostile these days, I don't doubt if such brawls become more present once again.

Both, it's just like a theme of movie, different parts showing different meaning in different languages and signals, so it is here. It's more deeper than you may think. Theme of love and them of anger as an example.

This is what football is supposed to be, but what I'm seeing now, especially on social media, is far from what football is all about. I don't know if this is just happening with fans. If a team loses in football, the fans will be hating and saying so much about the winning team. I have come across this so many times on social media.

Football is a game of luck, and any team can be lucky to win, and whoever loses shouldn't let it make them emotional and develop hate. Football is supposed to be a game of fun irrespective of the outcome of the team one supports; there shouldn't be hard feelings attached to it.

Sport just has a way of bringing excitement, exposure, and connection of some kind to some community. I know a small community in my country which, if not for the little name a player from there made for himself, nobody would actually really know exists or is part of the local government. Communities also come together all in the name of sport competition, and mutual relationships are being created from there.

In my country, football is the main thing that brings all the tribes together to support the national team whenever they are playing. We can argue and disagree about every other thing but once it comes to football, that difference is set aside and the national interest is what every one will be after. So I have grown to head as I have witnessed it as I get older. Football truly truly brings peace among my country men and women.

Citizens won't have problem with that, we can love each other to have peace together. But the leaders are the true problems.

They have their personal issues that they cannot be silenced with that even if the peaceful loving nation are liking each others sports. Boxing, cricket, basketball, boxing, horse racing, etc.

Those are fun sports and can compete with that, it's not costly to make people live in peace together by having sports competition.

I don't know, I think it brings momentary peace, if it's not worked on to be lasting. Unfortunately, when there is a conflict, it is even difficult to stop for a moment and try to establish a dialogue. I believe that sport serves to bring people together, but generally, people on the same side, bringing people from opposite sides together is not impossible, but it is complex, especially when the dispute is not just in the sporting sphere.

Football or any sport activities creates an avenue whereby people can come together and for the benefits of a common goal interact themselves, have fun together and make the very best of the time of being together under a single course, which is the sport that brought them together, this could indeed foster their relationship as individual or nation to interact and mingle with each other more closely, all at the occasion of the sport activities.

And not only that, in my case I have seen that sport, football, makes us more united, that is, very good friendships are created and links are made between people that one never thought to meet, it is a brotherhood, in my case I have made many friends playing football, from all over the world, in part for me football does unite.

And why would it be need to be fixed though? Do they think that other side couldn't handle losing or something? If you want peace, you give other team the dignity to be able to play as well as they can. Losing purposely just gives impression that you are either afraid of the opponent or feel sorry for them.

Friendly matches where you aren't playing so seriously don't need to be fixed, so why would these be? Because knowing the outcome for betting? That seems immoral and nothing do do with "fun".

Op The title of your post actually is what many community portrayed using sports to bring togetherness and peace most cases reserve is always the case, this only work, if the conflict is not a deep one, some conflict football or sports activities can't resolved it. I witnessed inter community match that happens to be peace match after a riot that take place in my area as result of oil conflict the game still end up coursing more harm, as there was a lost of some life with a fight erupted, the weight of conflict matters if sport can act as peace resolution.

Well, it’s a competition and in as much as you want to compete and win, you can’t deny the fact that, some dirty tricks could be done on the pitch, leading to some controversies that might result in violence.

In the Turkish league, you ca recall the game against Fenerbache and Trabzonspor with fans storming the pitch resulting in an outrage or the most recent with Algeria and Nigeria where the referee had to be guided off the pitch. These things do happens and that’s very much part of the game but, peace always prevails in the end and that’s why matters the most.

Drogba did settle a dispute in his country through football, it works it’s purpose.

I mean just look at the olympics. Like ya know for sure every country was there expect for like a handful and I'm pretty sure north korea wasn't invited but the olympics alone show you how it fosters peace between nations through competitiveness and striving for GOLD!!!! On a side note there needs to be a bitocoin olympics where teams of miners and bitcoin blockchain developers play similar but bitcoin themed sports and everyone gets paid in sats and has a sats satchel!!! or like sats necklace with a crypto coin (gold necklace of course). haha that would be cool.

Sport has politics too and lot of denials even if one is good enough to play but it is a sector where the power can't infleunce much, if one can be the best then he will play for the sport because social media get the player's skill to the real fans and with their support that sport authority atleast need to try them out.

This isn't common today, as we don't place such a high value on sports, even though we love having a good time. However, if you think about it, sporting competitions are a great way to channel human aggression into peaceful channels. That's why I advocate for the development of sports, because I believe that sports truly contribute to peace in any territory. Humans are aggressive creatures, and when they don't know where to direct their aggression, they usually direct it toward war with their neighbors.

I don't think sporting competitions can promote peace between countries in conflict. Unfortunately, humans haven't yet found a reliable way to prevent natural human aggression from escalating into wars and military conflicts.

It's well known that many sports (for example, boxing, judo, hockey, football) attract highly aggressive men with elevated testosterone levels. It's assumed that these men will excel in these sports and avoid fights and combat. However, in practice, the development of such sports doesn't prevent wars. 🤷

I think wars are started by older men with low testosterone and low sexual potency (and certainly not by athletes). These men are unable to realize their masculine potential; in particular, they can no longer actively participate in sporting competitions as athletes. However, they wield power, meaning they can control millions of people through both persuasion and police force.  This means that, although they are physically weak, they can motivate millions of young, physically strong men to go to war. Therefore, in my opinion, eradicating war through sport is impossible. Although such attempts have been made repeatedly (incidentally, the Olympic Games were revived for this very purpose). The problem, in my opinion, is that wars are started by people who have nothing to do with sport. They have the opportunity, and they take advantage of it. 🙅
