How do new users actually earn merit these days?

I’ve been browsing around the forum lately and noticed that it’s pretty hard for new users to earn their first few merits i’m curious what kind of posts actually get noticed by merit sources or higher-ranked members?

Do you think the system still works as intended or has it become too slow for newcomers to rank up?
Would love to hear some honest tips from people who’ve been around longer.

If you've been browsing around and noticing things, why didn't you notice posts that have received merits already? And if you did, then I don't see why you are asking this question, because if you can see what kind of posts are getting merits, you can observe those posts, see how they are constructed, understand the reason why they have received merits, and you should have your answer.

There is no rocket science in earning merits, you just make genuine contributions in discussions around the forum, and you will receive merits for them if your contributions actually have some meaning and purpose. Newbies who can't get any merits are not doing things the right way, and they need to improve how they carry themselves in the forum.

Most newbies seem to be engaging in low effort mega threads filled with endless spam. It's hard to find your worthy posts if your posts are burried in the middle of garbage.

The system is still fair and works. If the new member wants to offer, at first glance they can earn their first merit with their first post. It's as simple as that. Sometimes most of them don't know how to present their face in a way that will be meaningful to the reader who will actually want to merit it.

I am very sorry to say, but you came to this forum since 2021, almost 5 years now and you are saying that you don't understand how the system works here. I'm been here for just only few days and to be honest when I navigated through some part of the forum I came to realize that it worth studying.

I think this is what you should do since you register here, I believe if you have done the right thing from the beginning, I think you will be legendary by now with 5000+ merits.

Keep merit source out of this. Any user with an sMerit that finds your post interesting and worth meriting are entitled to merit your posts when comes across it.
In the recent time, I've also come across posts of some newbies acquiring more merits than even me who has been here before then why? Because their posts are found interesting by those merited them. Not also all quality meritable posts earns merit in the forum due to limited supplies of sMerits for merit source to spread out.
Moreover, new members keep signing in to the forum almost makes it look like merits aren't circulating while it does.

I urge you to put more effort and come with more quality posts because, earning merits could be competitive between users and post quality. Quite unfortunate that newbies who think earning merits is all about posting and doesn't consider post quality.

If you write informative posts which people usually don’t know much about, you’ll get lots of merits. Bitcoin technical  and/or newbie beginner board are places to start. It will still not be easy to rank up, don’t expect to collect huge merits right away the moment you start to post in these boards but as the time goes by, people will notice your name and they will remember you. “This guy knows a lot and he likes to help newbies.” Or “he knows a lot about bitcoin. I should remember his name, maybe i’ll ask him something one day.” These are cookie cutter ways of making merits. First gradually, then suddenly. If you post only to have gain merits, you’ll get bored eventually and leave. Many big names you see around do what they do because they love it.

From the boards you've been posting since you joined, you cannot earn merit from there, 100 replies in those places won't still earn you a single merit, there is absolute no contribution from those posts, most of them are just 1 liners and in the gambling section, if you want to earn merits, participate in other boards, create meaningful discussions or contribute to the active ones, a good post isn't hidden even if not all will be merited.

There are threads to submit unmerited good posts, if you believe the system is slow, try to match the pace of others who contribute to the forum and you will earn progressively to help build your rank.

Nothing interesting coming from newbies anymore. I still remember then when I was of lower rank, it was the era of interactive post here on the forum. You see so many newbies creating quality post trying to learn and contribute to the community in so many ways. Probably the era of genuine newbies is over and all we have now are alts with no intention of contributing to the forum but spamming on thread where merits can be earned quite easily. We have a good number of merit source now on the forum, but there is a smaller amount of quality post for them to merit. merit source might not be willing to read through so many made up posts or Ai generated diarrhea like we see now on the forum.. when you sight a quality post it's very much easy to tell.

See? It's not hard at all. You just earned your first merit. And as some already suggested you were posting in the wrong section of the forum i guess, afaik those boards doesn't have much merit circulations among them. Tbh, I would suggest you, try not to run after merits, they'll come eventually if you do positive contribution towards the forum. And you just joined the forum, so try to learn it's rules first, the do and don't. Read as much as you can, that's the easiest way to understand how everything works around here! And if you really want merits, well make quality posts which benefits the forum and it's community (without using any AI tools of course, that is strictly forbidden, nobody appereciates AI made shit).

Right, seems to be fuel by some members too. personally apart from threads like Bitcoin Wall-Observer there seem not to be a very vital endless spam thread.

Just figured repetition of words is signature there in but yet there some good post amongst them which will never gain recognition because it's found in the middle of nowhere however I seem not to see merit earning as easy as before because people are now more of spam than real conversation and sources are already pissed with the level low value post.

The system still works, but the quality, content and where you post sometimes matter if you want to earn merit. Seeing your post history, there is no surprise that you haven't gotten merit from your posts(well, until now).

Sometimess Few words are strong enough reflect a merit for you. But If youre saying yes to yes, no to no then your post never gonna catch someone eyes. Be constructive so that merit itself deserves you.

Yes system still works, Just try to get more active on forum. Btw , if you're a good poster it doesn't means you have to catch everyone eyes. In our forum everyone is helpful.  Good posts hardly gets un noticed. Don't go for any shortcut. Don't break any rules.

Learn everyday. Don't focus on earning merits, just engage in genuine conversations and enjoy your time. Try to find topics that are of interest to you, or that you have knowledge about. There's literally no need to rush.

Checking these newbies with good ability to earn merit is good but not enough.

Newbies need to learn from other newbies and also from legendary members too. Check merited posts of newbies and legendary members in the forum can give some insights on how to be a valuable member in the forum, and receive merit for posts.

This was my first thought when I read the thread title. OP, I'll tell you the fastest way. Forget the forum's focus on Bitcoin knowledge. Start with push-ups. You need to ingratiate yourself into a certain community to literally be showered with merits. If you see contests, don't hesitate to participate. Pumpkin carving, baking pies, arranging fruit on plates, or drawing a country's flag, all of these exist on this forum. Unfortunately, the thread for getting 14 merits has become a bit complicated, but all the other similar threads will quickly make you a high-ranking member. Just remember to paraphrase others' thoughts in the DCA megathreads, and also post news from Twitter about El Salvador and places that accept Bitcoin. You could actually hold a competition to see how quickly you can rise in rank by participating in such threads.
One account I like to use as an example uses push-ups to raise not only the price of Bitcoin but also its own rank. .

Don't bother with others or what they like/dislike, just post in topics where you have got something to say, that'll be enough.

It works fine. If you stay persistent, you'll rank up sooner or later. Being persistent will also improve your post quality over time, even if it might not be good currently because you automatically improve at whatever you do repeatedly.
