Uncontrolled gambling really is an addiction and it works the same way as drugs or alcohol by triggering the brain’s reward system to keep chasing that high of winning once it takes over it stops being entertainment and becomes a cycle of self destruction that’s hard to break. When someone reaches that point they lose not just money but also relationships self respect and peace of mind and like you said it often leads to even darker paths like substance abuse because they start looking for ways to escape the pain and guilt from their gambling losses.

While it's dangerous to gamble intensively there is no connection to drugs and gambling...not everyone that gambles excessively takes these substances. There is a relationship between  gambling and drugs. This is  an indirect relationship. And we understand this when we go to the casino. We rarely see gamblers who do not drink alcohol when we go to the casino. As a result  of gambling , we often become more excited. Many people try to control their emotions by  drinking alcohol. I will say the statement that says drugs has no relationship with gambling can have true but not entirely true because there is a connection between gambling and drug abuse especially among gamblers facing different problems during gambling. First example, when someone losses huge amounts of money to gambling maybe half of their savings, the pain shame and pressure can easily push them to use hard drugs or alcohol to calm their nerves.

Secondly, both gambling and drugs trigger the same reward system in the dopamine and that's why some people get hooked on both. Some research shows that 10-20% of people with gambling disorder also have substance use problems. Thirdly, in some gambling circles especially underground and high stake games, drugs are part of the scene as most of those gamblers use stimulants to stay awake or alcohol to loosen up. The idea that you need drugs to "clear your head" seems stupid to me. Are you talking about illegal drugs like cocaine and others or you are talking about legal drugs, which are prescribed by a psychic doctor? Drugs cannot help you, when you are dealing with heavy gambling losses.
They can provide temporary distraction for your brain, but this won't solve your problems. Trying to escape from your problems won't make them disappear. Drugs have a connection not just to gambling, but to all the bad habits and addictions. The lack of moderation can lead to big problems.

Exactly, i think so too. Drugs and gambling are two very different activities, drugs involve dangerous substances, while gambling is more about behavior. Although there are a handful of people who definitely gamble and use drugs at the same time, people like that are also likely to do other dangerous things. I have many friends who are active gamblers to this day, including myself, But none of us use drugs, that's too extreme.. I think people who lose at gambling and then turn to drugs in the hope of finding peace of mind are crazy people with a damaged mindset.

Drug addiction is different from gambling addiction, a person can be addicted to gambling but don't have interest in drugs or the other way around. It is possible for one addiction to spill into the other due to lack of self control so I can say that what the whole types of addictions that you can think about have in common is lack of self control. What I can agree that has a direct relationship with gambling addiction is criminality, when an addicted gambler is desperate to get money to gamble they can do anything to get it. An addict can scam family and even strangers to get money to fund their addiction.

I don't know much about drug but I have seen and dealt with drug addicts so I know how they feel a bit, drug is like an escapist for many people in the world today, they take drugs to escape reality.

Many people are full of bad luck, things hardly go right for them, and to atleast stop thinking or feeling down they consume drugs, and we all know that drugs wipes away your thinking including the bad feelings for some time.

I won't argue though, because even here in my area, every single person whom I've come across that visits offline/physical casinos quite often are into some form of hard substance, especially alcohol, and my believe is that someone who takes alcohol have a high chance of doing hard drugs as well..

But then, I am not talking about light gamblers like myself and maybe some of us on this forum who are simply gambling for the sake of having fun and maybe for the fact that we are promoting gambling casinos which require to participate in gambling related discussions, and what other way is more effective to participate in gambling related discussions if its not for us ourselves to gamble and gain first hand experience?

If you lose a lot, you can just rehabilitate or apply for self-exclusion to avoid gambling again. You don't need drugs to get high and forget about all the losses. You are just adding more problems to the problem.
No, I don't believe many people will seek drugs when they have gambling problems. I might consider alcoholic drinks, but never with drugs. I have been gambling for a long time, lost some good amount, but it never occur to me to use drugs just because of it. Never even had a thought.

Why would someone even thinking of gambling why he don't have the mind to accept any outcome? It doesn't make sense because taking some harmful drugs to clear your losses away wouldn't do you any good than hoting you the more. In general, I have never encountered anyone whose gambling experience led to drug addiction, or vice versa. It would be different if they were previously a drug user before they started gambling, which could be considered as relationship between these. However, all bad things stem from our own bad habits. Therefore, we must realize the importance of thinking before acting, and never doing anything too risky. If you want to gamble, do so within your means with money you can afford to lose. Gambling doesn't promise riches, it is simply for entertainment purpose, and we shouldn't overdo it.

By the way, I have never heard of any medical treatment for patients experiencing depression due to gambling by using drugs, but as far as I know, patients are usually prescribed medication with some form of antidepressant. Perhaps the reason is that drugs carry many risks.
