Old age restrictions on gambling do you think is proper?

Government can never ban elderly people from gambling, neither do the casino ban elderly persons from coming to their shop to gamble. Gambling site can only warn you to gamble responsibly ar you should gamble with what you can afford to lose, but can't stop or prevent you from betting despite your age. There are age limitations for young people because they will not be able to take responsibility for their actions. Young people are also easily addicted to a behaviour. But the elderly have experience with life and can control their emotions. The only time the elder should be restricted is if it has been observed that they are becoming addicted or that gambling is having a bad effect on their health. Some old people have been banned or restricted from buying alcohol in my location. The community took that decision because of the way they abuse it and others have been advised by doctors to quit.

Gambling cannot be limited by age even old age still active to gamble regarding it proper or not i think it will depend on the reason of those people why they want to gambling although they are not young anymore but based on my personal experience i can see old age gambler can more responsible than the young age that because i have seen while gambling old people can more enjoyed to gamble

The reason why old people very enjoy to their gambling activities because basically they were gambling for fun and entertainment besides that the common reason why old age gambling not because they want to earn money from gambling mostly they were want to enjoy their free time after retired because after retired they don't have much activities to spend

Just know that old men are wise than you think they are but most people know that they are wise. If you take a look at the stat of age groups that are addicted to gambling, old people will be far less than young adults. Young adults are more likely to have problem gambling than old people. Most people that are addicted to gambling will likely be within the age of 18 to 30.

I think it's true, older people who are addicted to gambling seem to be fewer compared to young people, and unfortunately this happens in my family, I have an aunt who is around 40 and she has a husband whose job I don't know, often when I come to her house I catch her gambling with her cell phone, sometimes I feel annoyed because sometimes my aunt asks me for money. I mean it doesn't matter if I have money and give it, I mean does her husband spend his money just by gambling, because I think he doesn't work because he just stays at home every day.

Well I think it's true, age restrictions should be implemented for old age.

If young age restriction is mainly purpose to protect vulnerable people who still not able to make decision and responsible with the risk, then elder age restriction do matters because elder people are prone of heart attack, weaker physically and other old age problems.

From the description of the OP, old people look like unwashed tramps who are unpleasant to be around. Where is this country where tramps have money for gambling? However, it is clear that the elderly have the same rights as all other adult age groups. Therefore, any restrictions on the rights of the elderly are illegal. The only exception may be limited legal capacity due to senile dementia or a similar disease. But this must be proven and there must be a court decision with the appointment of a guardian.

It is rare, I have never meet or seen a old man who can't walk very well going into a betting outlet or a casino, and yes this is not proper if such thing is happening but you know that there are old men who feel like they have wasted their times and today they are still doing hard jobs to survive? If such people still exist then there is a possibility that they can also gamble too but I hardly see such.

Old men who are legally retired always feel like gambling, this are the type that I am familiar with, they engage in fun games that doesn't require money, like Chess, Card games and local games like Ludo, they have their friends come around and challenge each other, it is fun watching them having the good time together.

Gambling is seen as a fair treatment to the old age, mostly they are found to be retired person's from different horizons and the only thing that keeps them busy at the moment is gambling which as serve as a means of entertainment and fun to them and easing them off their worries in most cases. I'm not accepting to the fact that most of them get addicted along the line but I don't think it should be restricted. But another thought there should be limits to their visit to offline casinos and local betting shops since that's the major spots you'll mainly find them.

Not your money, not your decision. Let them do whatever they wanna do. They're not under 18 yo, and they can do their own research. Gambling their money is their right. They're not even harming others with their decision to gamble their money, why do we need to complaint about their money?

Gambling has a greater spirits their are people who are into gambling from young age till they become very old yet they continue gambling,I think restricting them is the best , because many of them don't longer know what they can predict to win but due to their constant gambling they became addicted to gambling,check in your locality you will see them most of them don't take their bath all they concentrate is pool gambling and I think they should place restrictions on the old people because they use the money they are supposed to feed themselves on gambling which is not good.

There is no age limit in gambling and so I don't think older people should be restricted from gambling, once you are still thinking straight and not in delusions as an older person you are free to gamble and associate with other gamblers you meet at the sporting centers, if you say older people should be restricted from gambling, that means you would want them to be restricted from watching football too because they will probably shake will walking to the stadium to watch football matches.

This older people that you feel should be restricted are some times wiser than us the younger gamblers, they have had some experience in gambling before we were born or before we even realized we wanted to gamble, some of them are still very good in predicting games than us the young ones, if they are being restricted to exercise that freedom of gambling it might lead to their death, this little gambling they do gives them joy and makes them live long so they shouldn't be restricted in my own opinion.

That depends on their family. We as outsiders can't be strict with them because we are not bound to those elders. But we can tell them not to go to casinos and other things so they will realize that their era of playing gambling is over.

But if they still insist and go to that casino with their nanny, that will be up to them. We can report that to their family members so they can do something. I agree that old age restrictions on gambling are right to prevent them from playing gambling.

They should give problems to themselves or their family. We don't know what can happen to them if they still gamble.

Yeah that's true if gambling becomes addicted to an individual he or she will have this urge to keep betting even with their last cash . it's more like betting  with  out any financial planing.but then  if you say restricting old people , isn't it their right as free citizens to do as they please ? .Don't get me wrong I understand your point but then underestimating old people is the wrong, why because old age isn't actually the time you sit around and just sleep and then become lazy .no that's the time when you will have to be happy, exercise yourself ,play have fun and so on .well for me  I believe gambling is fun and if it's fun to old gambler's then there isn't any problem with it . that's just it bro .....

Who should put the restriction? You know that that won't happen, mate. If gambling is the only fun activity that an old man or woman has to do at their old age, then let them enjoy the fun, that's my opinion. My grandpa gambled until he was old, although even before he got to 80, he has already stopped gambling but yet he is still very strong right now in his early 90s, even if he decides to go to land base bookie, he can since he is still very strong but has already stopped betting.

 I'm not in support of restricting old people from gambling, if they are standing on the wrong foot of gambling, there children now have a role to play in such a situation but to deprive and old person of his only source of fun is really something I don't agree with, unless that thing is causing destruction to him, but if it can be managed, then is better to manage the situation instead of cutting them off.

We checked in last month in a hotel with a casino. I got my whole family, kids are enjoying the amenities.
Time for Bed and kids were sleeping. Me and my wife visited the casino and plan to play for fun.

We walked all around to get a good spot which is not crowded to enjoy the slot. As we walk around the place, we noticed that most of the players there are oldies.
50s, 60,70 and even older. we also witnessed someone who surely a senior citizen hit the 3.6 Million jackpot.


moving forward, lets not put restriction for the over age in a casino, let them enjoy the place and game.

There is no age limit stated, reason why aged gamblers should avoid gambling activity firstly gambling is not healthy for such age range due to other related stories about aged gamblers involve in gambling activity probably health challenges for example the slightest mistake can lead to health related problem as a result of huge loss and it’s best gamblers in general avoid gambling huge amount. I honestly don’t think old age restrictions on gambling make too much sense like that . I understand that old people have health issues especially around weak heart and so on so small losses can give them high blood pressure like this or even stroke as we have heard of cases like that in the shanties and other climes. But this same frustration can happen to any young person that uses his school fees or house rent to gambling, the shock sometimes is a no respecter of the age and more of the moment and the level of risks taken by the gambler.

If we say old people should not gamble because of their age, then we must also say that poor people should not gamble because of their financial status or we are supposed to say people with heart issues cannot gamble because of their health issues and that is nearly impossible o.

The real deal actually lies on addiction and betting with the money you cannot afford to lose and not the number of the age. A 70 years old OG with strong mind and small risk taking plan and discipline might end up enjoying gambling more than a 30 years old guy that is chasing his losses.

I understand your point. It hurts to see older people, who are expected to be resting and taking care of themselves, lavishing their last bit of energy and money on gambling. Lots of these old aged are not even pursuing fun again, it's character, loneliness, or even addiction.

In brief:
I support the idea of stronger restrictions for those who cannot outrightly control it, mostly the older ones. Though it requires to be done in a supporting, rather than a discriminatory way.

If those people are cognitively well and sound and are able to make choices on their money, then they are supposed to continue to hold their right to gamble or bet on sports. They should not be allowed in casino in the case of not being mentally well and not aware of what they are doing with their money.

In that sense, I would not be correct to exclude people from adult activities only because they have reached some age threshold. It is rather an issue on whether they continue to be mentally capable or not.

No need, very few of them gamble and of course old people are much more mature than young people and below, they have a long experience in life, speaking of emotions, point of view, mindset and everything else they have, although it is possible that some of them are careless but it is very few, so no need, if you ban them you will be protested. Though in terms of being concerned about those senior citizen who still love or still involved into gambling is good, but it's their rights and their options if they wanted to spend the rest of their years enjoying this activities, though each individuals have their own opinions and perspectives we can't remove the fact that those people are also capable to choose whatever they think that will satisfy their enjoyment, they should be allowed to whatever they desire as long as they are following the rules of the house and they are not committing any problems while playing around.

Just as there are some restrictions on gambling for minors, similarly, some restrictions should be placed on the elderly as well. If an elderly person cannot control himself, then nothing good can be expected from him. Elderly people behave like minors at some point, if restrictions are imposed on them by the government in terms of gambling, they can be saved from major losses. Although some people think that gambling in old age is a good option for the elderly to spend their time. However, if such a person becomes addicted, then it causes major losses for them.
