Old age restrictions on gambling do you think is proper?

Gambling has a greater spirits their are people who are into gambling from young age till they become very old yet they continue gambling,I think restricting them is the best , because many of them don't longer know what they can predict to win but due to their constant gambling they became addicted to gambling,check in your locality you will see them most of them don't take their bath all they concentrate is pool gambling and I think they should place restrictions on the old people because they use the money they are supposed to feed themselves on gambling which is not good.

Do you believe a man of 80s,78 are still going to gambling shops this people are suffering to walk they are supposed to be ban completely the money you couldn't get at your youth is it old age you can get it,if you meet most of them in the gambling shop you will hardly feel free staying with them ,old people should be restricted,this is my opinion yours is need too.

I don't think it's really proper because when people are over 18 and start earning their own income, they can choose to gamble for their entertainment.
In this case, I don't think there is any need to exclude the elderly, but of course, excessive gambling is not good for anyone, be it old or young or middle age. They can be persuaded for this but I don't support restrictions on their gambling. Yes, if he is mentally ill then maybe his family can give him restrictions if they want.

Just as there are some restrictions on gambling for minors, similarly, some restrictions should be placed on the elderly as well. There should be no restriction for older people in gambling. I don't buy that idea that everyone should be allowed to gamble as long as they are of age. The only set of people who should be excluded from gambling is if their guidance considers it to be affecting their life; then they can look for a way to fix it. I don’t think is ideal to ban older people from gambling, something they have been doing for years restricting them at old age will not do them good , gambling has a spirit which is not easy to deal with , I think I have seen older men predict games in their quiet time infact they feel so good forecasting and are willing to share with younger folks so everyone can win something, so I believe those things helps them not to be lonely and they feel productive at that moment so I don’t think it will not be nice to ban them from gambling.

No one is gonna make the effort to check whether an elderly person is “allowed” to gamble or not. As long as they can pay, that already gives them the right to gamble. If we stop them just because of what we think about them (and we can’t even read their minds), that’s basically violating their rights.

We’d be blocking people from enjoying their life. What’s the point of calling gambling entertainment if some people are deprived of it even though they can gamble responsibly?

The safest thing to do is let them realize their own mistakes, not us judging them.

From my own point of view, I think gambling should even be restricted for persons between the ages of 55-65. I say this because it's the era in the life of every youth to be at their best; much energy should rather be channeled into being creative, innovative,and so on. There is so much energy to invest in personal growth and development  and not really the time for a young man to be gambling all the time. However,since the betting company's targeted audience are mostly the youth, it is very difficult for them to give this a consideration but in the right sense what does an old man have to lose while gambling when he just has few days to live for? So in summary, I am personally Not in support of banning the older ones from gambling,but rather the reverse.

ff your grandma was eating well, taking care of herself and only using the allowance given to her not the money meant for essentials then that kind of card playing is more of social bonding than addiction. Not all elderly gamblers are the same some do it just to pass the time and enjoy company not to chase big wins. I don’t see any reason to restrict them what matters is that they’re safe, healthy and not sacrificing their needs. The problem only starts when someone young or old begins to neglect themselves or overspend but if they’re responsible and surrounded by family support.

As long as they can go to the casino independently without needing help from others, I think it’s better to let them spend a little of their free time having fun. It is true that sometimes some elderly people want to gamble simply because they don’t want to be lonely staying at home all the time. Perhaps by being in a busy place like a casino, they are looking for someone to talk to, not just to gamble.

In my opinion, as long as it doesn’t go beyond limits, age is not a reason to restrict someone from gambling. I think some kids just don't like their parents visiting casinos too often, and from a child’s perspective that's perfectly normal and understandable.

I agree with you, man. I believe there are people who gamble with discipline in terms of finances, time, and behavior. They can also gamble responsibly. This means that even though they're definitely spending money, it doesn't cause problems. It makes sense to say that gambling is for fun, because I'm currently experiencing that myself.

When I first started gambling, I had to do it no matter what, even if I didn't have the money. But now, that's no longer the case. In fact, the urge to gamble is 99% gone.

Apart from health issues I don't think that there should be a restriction for an old responsible gambler, gambling is not a job that should have retirement age, every gambler should decide when to stop. No need to abandon what makes you happy in old age, so far an old person planned their retirement well and not dependant on anybody to get money for gambling they can still gamble responsibly. But it is good if old gamblers should reduce their gambling activities as it is important for them to reduce active involvement in every other things.

Nah, I don't think so. Age restriction should only be for those under 21 or 18. I’ve never heard of an age restriction because someone is too old. Whether the money is meant to feed themselves or their family, the casino won’t know. It’s not like casinos, both online and physical, will ask if the money is for food and verify it before allowing them to play, or check if they’re unfit to play, especially online. Whether your money is for important things or not, you’re responsible for your own actions.

It would be discrimination. It is possible to restrict some old people if medics say that he can`t control himself. That`s all. We can`t restrict anybody, if he not interfere with others.

And it can be a good idea to make fake money or some tickets for gambling in nursing home. Something that doesn`t cost money, but increase interest to the game.

Btw, have you ever thought that if we compare underaged and a person deep in age, then a person in deep age has too many problems with his mind and head? Dementia, vision problems, they have more stress or depression and so on. A person with such problems have more chances to make wrong move in gambling and get into troubles. Often elderly people are lonely, or people around try to pay less attention to them, or would help them. But, they are allowed to gamble, but underaged, who can be put under monitor/influenced by reputation/controlled, are not allowed to even try.

That's very correct,  and if their gudian considers it to be affecting their well being, it is the duty of those people to deprive the person from gambling and not the casino to do it for them. Unless the casino has a self exclusion service but if they don't, the person will continue to gamble until their gudian do something to stop them.

Its not like that and provably the main factor on why they made such ruling is they want those old age people to avoid gambling because they are so vulnerable to lose lots of money especially if they expect to much on what they are playing.

We can also add up that their financial capabilities is limited and most of them rely on their retirement that's why its good if government protect them and help them stay away on any gambling activities.

I support this kind of regulation since I don't want the old people to experience bad faith on gambling.

I don't know if you are referring to government to be the people that will ban old age gambling because government will not do that strictly for the old people. If gambling will be ban in a country, it is usually generally. For old people, they are use to anything they keep doing at old age and taking it away from them can be disastrous to their health and general well-being.

Old people believe that they understand the winning chains in pool or gambling more than the young people and sometimes they get it right but they don't have the finance to take bigger risk. The best we could do for those families having old people who are still gambling is by limiting them by ourselves and discouraging them from it but most times advising old people is waste of time. It is their personal decision to stop just like the old smoking. Or have we not seen very old people still smoking? They do that because it has become part of them just like gambling.
