Old age restrictions on gambling do you think is proper?

Personally, I'm categorically against such restrictions... Banning elderly people from gambling? Simply because they're 80 or older? I personally know elderly people who are so smart and savvy that they can give twenty-year-olds a run for their money. I had a university professor who taught a course called "Theory of Inventive Problem Solving." He was 82 years old. He taught students how to invent and solve creative problems. Is it really appropriate to impose restrictions and prohibitions on such a wise person? Doesn't he have the right to gamble (if he wants)?

Of course, if doctors have diagnosed a person with senile dementia, I admit that some restrictions are possible. Such people can be officially declared incompetent. Here, we need to look at the specific regulations of individual countries. What prohibitions are imposed on incompetent people... However, I repeat, most elderly people are smart enough to make such decisions for themselves.  If they enjoy gambling, why limit it? It might even be good for them. True, I agree with this. There are bunch of oldies that can definitely make fun those new gens in gambling, especially those who're still naive in decision making. Also, they're getting old and need something that will make them have fun and at the same time feel that dopamine that can help them lift their moods. Just because they're old, doesn't mean they can't do nothing, and it always depend in the situation. If they have sickness of course like what you've said, limitations are required, but if they still feel alive and this is their only way to feel excitement, then let them choose gambling. At least they’re spending their time on something that makes them happy and most cases, they gamble smarter and reasonable because they’ve already seen a lot in life and more experiences.

Old people also enjoy having fun too, in fact,  if you ask me, they are the ones who deserve gambling the more because old age can some times come out as a very lonely time because all the children must have all grown up and gone their ways to live their own life, the man needs friends to pass time with and if he's friends are gamblers, there is nothing wrong if they all gamble together as a means entertaining themselves and keeping themselves happy, so long as they are not stealing the money they spend on gambling, and are also not begging for food after they maybe lose money to gambling, I see no reason why they should be banned from gambling.

It will be better for them to spend small funds on gambling than to suffer loneliness, which could lead to depression. Few retirees in my location usually visit brick-and-mortar betting shops. And I can attest that they are responsible gamblers.

Gambling with money is totally wrong but they can have fun with them don't misunderstand it,to whom it may concern when your father is old you will not allow him to be gambling from one gambling shop to another,but you can only restrict him from going to shops for gambling but you can allow him to play chase ,ludo,draft without money just to have fun ,but going to shops to place a stake is not health wise it's bad considering their status and must of this oldies has hypertension small thing their BP easily raise ,stoping them to place a stake is better.

Indeed, there are quite a few elderly people who should be enjoying life in a better way than gambling, but they still choose to gamble, perhaps because, as you said, they want to win and become rich, something they haven't achieved before.

I dont think that elderly people have plans to win and become rich. Imo they gamble for 3 reasons: 1) because it is one of fun activities they are still capable of doing, or if they are bored 2) because they are in short of money, they cant get job and have nobody to help or borrow them 3) gambling is already a habit or hobby.

Personally the only think I would do is to try to persuade them not to gamble with money, but use demo play. As for the rest, they are experienced enough, mature enough, have huge life background to be afraid of gambling recklessly or to get addicted and get into serious problems.

The second point you gave is the same as those who really want to pursue material to make them rich but in the end whatever the reason is, it is still the truth because what parents need to do is enjoy life and gambling even though it may be said to be an excuse to enjoy life, this condition is still an unjustified behavior.

Suggesting those who gamble to be in the demo is difficult but maybe it can be a good option only I'm not sure they will do the suggestion or not because I personally feel that when many reasons they put forward later of course it already shows that they still don't want to be free from gambling so in this case obviously the situation becomes difficult because they gamble for money and they won't do it if there is no money in it.
