One business strategy is seeing what's usually trending or popular among the masses and build products around it. For example, the young people seem to be enjoying matcha more and more these days promoting it as a lifestyle. Hence why we see more and more coffee shops offering matcha drinks. People incorporating matcha into their food menus as creatively as they can.

Now I ask what kind of businesses do not need to follow a trend because they are always on trend? An example would be supermarkets. People always need food. Food will never go out of trend so it can be a good business. A laundry shop is another example. People wear clothes and dirty laundry always exist which is why people will always look for laundry shops. What other businesses can you think of that people will always need?
Trend businesses are always short-lived and over time will be replaced by new cultures or new habits that arise in a period of time, making it a trend.

Other businesses that are not fixated on trends are, having commodities of basic community needs, such as the main food, from time to time there will still be those who buy it, property, alcohol, drugs, and many more.
Even so, under certain conditions, it will have the potential to experience trends, such as the urgent need for medicines because of many mass diseases, or the poor condition of farmers' crops so that foodstuffs experience scarcity, even buying and selling drinking water can experience the same thing when drought in an area, and including what you mentioned that could be a trend too.

Sometimes, riding the trend is not worth it because of high competition in the market. Instead, find a business that is unique but still may pass on the taste of the consumers. People love foods so sell something that shows your own originality, and not adopting what is being in trend. People love perfumes, so think of a unique scent that your customers will surely love using, at least the scent is from your own brand, not from the known scents in the market. Women love beauty products, now create something organic that is not expensive but affordable in the market. And the most important thing, make sure the effectivity is high so that people will keep coming back patronizing your product.

Well, I don't think it's always a good idea to avoid trends. Sometimes trends attract people and give your business instant visibility, Let's say someone opens a food shop but they make it their own, but people in the market are looking for something else at that moment even very unique things take a while to get noticed.
I think the best place to be is somewhere between trends and originality. That means keeping in mind what people are interested in in the market but adding your own touch to it, This gives the customer a familiar taste and your brand also feels different.

Thanks to the huge number of marketplaces that have become a real breakthrough in commerce, anyone can start their own online store. This is a far cry from trying to promote a website, as websites without promotion are pointless. So, having your own store on a marketplace is an easy way to capitalize on trends. For example, as soon as someone realizes that their audience needs a product, they need to act. For example, you could sell briefcases and notebooks for September 1st.
Starting an online store might be easy but will not always guarantee profits. Sometimes we need to take extra efforts to keep the store running because of the competition and most of the owners are not able to survive so they just close their store and take a dent on their investment. This usually happens in cut-throat competition products like clothing or wearable.

I would not really prefer starting an online store but would go for affiliate marketing. I can just run a few ads on platforms like instagram and sell products directly from amazon which will give me a fixed share of income. I feel earning much easier from affiliate marketing as I can partner with top brands and can start selling their products from the convenience of my home without really taking much efforts. The advertisements on instagram will do all the major work for me.

Repair shops or service centers for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.
This is a business that is always needed by the community without having to follow trends. Skills and equipment upgrades will be carried out over time, but this business will always be visited by people who have problems with their vehicles.

This repair shop should not be combined. It should be specialized for two-wheeled vehicles and not combined with four-wheeled vehicles.
I think this is the business that fits what you are asking about.

your examples don't apply to the country where I live. No one here knows about matcha, only those who travel to Asia. Well, of course, I could bank on it and try to popularize it, but it's not a given that it will catch on in people's kitchens. Laundromats are also out of the question here because the population is poor and everyone would be afraid of their washing machines getting dirty. I like to see how it works in American movies, but in the local context, it's hard to imagine it as a successful business.
Maybe this can be an opportunity for you to start the trend. Yes, as of now people might not be aware about matcha but sooner of later they will find out and will love the taste. You can have a first serve advantage here as there is not much competition in your country. In my country matcha was not popular at all but due to the rising western culture drinks like matcha took off really well in my country mostly in developed countries and now I can see a lot of people consuming matcha just to support the western lifestyle.

You can maybe take a quick survey or even offer free matcha for people to experience the culture and see if you get any response there. This can be a good business plan for you if you invest a minimum amount and start promoting matcha in your country.

Sure, you mentioned some important businesses like supermarkets and laundries. However, there are other businesses that are always essential.

Hospitals, clinics &  home-care services, people always need healthcare. Electricity, water and gas, our lives cannot go on without these basic services. No matter the economic situation, mechanics continue to work when there is a car problem. Accountants and tax planners also increase in demand when there is financial turmoil. Residential and commercial cleaning services are also always needed.

Such businesses not only keep up with current trends, but also help meet people's basic and constant needs.

You know how some businesses can go out of trend . But to me not these ones, there are certain things people will always need or matter the month and no matter the trend.
For me restaurants and salons are top of that list . Just think about it people will always go out to dates, birthdays, anniversary or maybe if they just feel like eating out. And even if new fancy dish starts trending it’s can easily be added to their menu and keep it moving.
It’s same thing with salons, that place is never empty whether it’s haircuts, braids, makeup and nails people will always wanna look good , crowded or not so the demand is constant.
So the truth is these are businesses that are always on trends , because it’s based on our needs.

Every type of business would have to be carried in a way that it had to be on trend to match with the market competition of that product solution. There are businesses that has nothing to do with trend for it success, just like food and shelter it's what every human can't do without, what a businessman in these areas needs to do is to ensure they provide quality products because people wouldn't leave quality inferior products. And it's worthy to say that choosing business shouldn't be based on trends because trends come and go, it should base on lasting demands.
You rise a great point according to business strategies and its true that the success of business is not depend on trends because if chase trends you would be bounded to that trends because trends chase immediately and after one trend an other trend comes to market. And some business have some different strategies like food and accommodation and linked with daily needs not need trends and these type of business completely run on reliability, quality and fair prices of stuff. so at the end the learning and focusing point is that when ever we choose a business we should focus on long term demanding stuff and should be very sensitive about our products quality and fair prices.

Trends come and go, often quickly. If you hop into it with a business in mind, just make sure you can recover your starting investment before the trend loses popularity. Or, better yet, make sure yours will continue thriving despite the trend dying. Here in my city, many joined the matcha, milk tea, coffee bandwagon. Many lost money in the process. Its height was the pandemic. It gradually lost its hype post-pandemic.
Anyone doing need base business is stable approach becauae demand of these goods always remain sustain. I always wonder why people follow trend and rush towards it. Most  business design their product and taste whatever is trending. But they often forget that trend  have short life. After few times new trend arrive and people quickly shift on it. In this situation many business fail because they heavily depends on trends that have temporary hype.

I better choose businesses based on need rather than want. Indeed, food and laundry are good businesses. The rest boils down to location, management, competitiveness, and so on.
Rather following the trend business should focus on creating or setting their own trends. When you introduce something unique it gives several advantages to you. Like you have face less competition, you can control the price, you can much have the higher chance of running business successfully in the long term. You become the leader of your business not follower. In some cases you become monopolistic position in your niches. But always try to update your products. As long as you keep improving and updating your product. Trend fade but innovation creates long term value. My approach is stay relevant eveny hype is gone.

When thinking of business to go into, trend shouldn't be the reason why choosing a business because trend comes and go and you kind tell how long trend. If planning a business the first thing thst needs to be at the back of the mind is value, if the business you want to go into is valuable and if it is that which can solve the problem of the people.  This is how to go into a business,  their are many trending businesses but it is not bringing good value at the end of the day. Trend is good but it shouldn't be put at the back of the mind as something that will last longer and bring good value.

I think that cars, EV and petrol will still be on the trend for businesses. Not being a dealer but you can be that someone who can be an agent to the buyers. I know that there are some dealers that allows outside agents where you're on your own schedule and only gets commission upon sale. While others think that this is a job, it is but it can also be a lucrative business if you know how to do it. I'm not good in sales and that's why I am not in it but I think that I've seen people who gets focused with this and are making huge bucks with the help of online marketing.

There are some products that always remain trending over time, such as cigarettes, which are always trending even though they are banned. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and national soft drinks are always on the list of favorites of young people and are always trending, so these products must be prioritized to establish a business. If you are establishing a supermall, you must give importance to the products that are automatically trending. There are some foods that are on the favorite list of children and youth, such as fast food, etc., which you should give priority to.

Food and beverage will never be out of business. But the problem with these business establishments is where they are located, let's say that they have those drinks but they're far from the foot traffic.

Then, that's a lot of missed customers if they're far from the reach of the people where they're going at most times.

So, considering that these products are good and will never be gone out of business. The important thing is on where you are operating the business and how you are marketing it.

That's the truth you just make a clear not everybody can have the same ideas of a certain business yeah because sometimes you don't just need to jump into what you cannot finish  for example If I have a supermarket that I have been managing for years and you think business is without planning I bet you cannot stand on your fit to do any business without going bankrupt, everything requires wisdom and understanding knowing the right source of making business because without knowing the right source of making a business you can't stand up to compete or involving in some certain businesses you don't know about.

People wear clothes and dirty laundry always exist which is why people will always look for laundry shops. What other businesses can you think of that people will always need?
Are you talking about trends or what has always been needed in high demand? Trends come and go but the people's need will always be in stock no matter how long, I'm a business oriented person and a supermarket is a good thing because everyone needs food first before anything else and i would also suggest a beer parlor, a beer parlor is like a mini restaurant or a bar that sells drinks any type of drinks and a long side a cat fish pepper soup where adults and young adults can come and relax with friends, partners and buy drinks and have fun and of course there will be entertainment like good music and TV for lovers of sport to watch. I don't know about other countries but I'm sure my Nigerian brothers will understand exactly what I mean by a beer parlor that sells drinks and car fish pepper soup, this business is one of the fast selling business that I know and it's never out of the market.

Of course, trends fades within the shortest time and it could leave the businessman in the middle of.nowhere to go from there with the next trend, and in some cases the businessman wouldn't even have noticed of the next new trend on time and this could have him struggling to compete with those that are ahead already. More so, you would have to deal with wasting a lot of resources behind while jumping form one trending business to a other, which wouldn't be healthy with stable profit making because you would have to grapple with the unavoidable wastes and what profit that could be made.

I believe following trends has nothing wrong in it itself, but a business shouldn't only be based on that, but it should be flexible enough to include and use any trend in the market to please their customers or attract new customers based on that trend. Trends are good in attracting new customers because if you are offering something based on a trend that your competitors aren't offering, you will get a lot of demand from new and old customers, and that can boost your business greatly.

That's why, flexible businesses will always have the potential to become successful. A business that only targets a specific thing, such as clothing or footwear, will only be able to follow trends and fashions within that market, but if a business has diversity, which means it sells multiple products, such a business will have more flexibility and will be able to cover more trends and attract a larger audience overall.

I better choose businesses based on need rather than want. Indeed, food and laundry are good businesses. The rest boils down to location, management, competitiveness, and so on.
Good point. While seeing profitability when you start a business based on trend, but the problem is, how long? Trends do not last long, so does it mean once a new trend arise, you have to shift to a new business OP?  Your decision to create a business that depends on the trend may bring a higher risk, and to think that there is stiff competition in the market, you could have ended up wasting your money and time because your business does not click while other unique businesses have continuously thrived.

Building a business needs a resourceful mind. You don't have to ride what others are doing, but instead do what others are not doing so that there won't be any competition on your business, thus resulting your business into fast growth and progress.

Everyone knows that buying Laboubu monsters was recently all the rage. This is precisely the moment when a sales trend allows sellers to make a tidy profit. This is a long-standing Chinese toy, but as soon as it was featured on a K-pop singer's bag, the whole world went crazy. Of course, millions of these toys were sold, and all the sellers who spotted this trend in time immediately made a tidy profit from the sales, buying the toy cheap in China and selling it at a high price in their home country.
This usually works out to make a quick buck because there are a lot of such trending products which are popularized on social medias of by such artists which get good traction and the demand rises rapidly. Finding the manufacturer and reselling the product will always give good profits and will take minimum efforts because the marketing will be quite easy. I usually will be looking for such opportunities and will instantly add that product to my drop-shipping ecommerce platform. Just by promoting in on meta or tiktok, I will be able to get thousands of orders within a few weeks.

This is a nice way to catch trending business. Implementing and start selling these trending products will not be a difficult task but it can give really nice profits if we manage to crack the marketing part.
