How did you know it was the bank? It seems unlikely that you would know that, therefore you are making an assumption that you are telling others that they shouldn't make. If you hear it from an "insider" that is likely gossip that is untrue.  If you gave them permission to share you data, and if you didn't explicitly opt-out then this is solely your fault.

"Hello sir, please tell me your name because I don't know who you are"?   Of course they shared the KYC data with the phone number and possibility even financial data related to gambling activities, otherwise the success rate of any targeted marketing will be extremely slim. People should start using burner phones, or numbers generated online for stuff they aren't sure of. Personally I have 2 phones, where one is the old number I once used to have. I just did not throw away the card and now my new number is for all the important stuff, like communicating with the bank, or password recovery, while the old one is for online marketplaces, gambling and all that.

I would disagree with you a bit because, even though many of us do KYC verification on various platforms out of necessity, in the case of gambling for entertainment, we do KYC verification on gambling sites, but I don't think all of us have that much interest here.
Because in today's era, the most important asset is a person's own personal data. In this case, even if it is just your phone number, if it is leaked, it means that your privacy is being compromised.
